Title: Fun with pommels!!!
Post by: imgumby001dammit on November 19, 2018, 03:14:21 AM
Everyone in this picture has a pommel that did NOT come standard on that particular hilt. Can you guess which one went where!?!?!!!???😃😃😃

I can't ID all of them but....

The pommel on the Dominix V3 LE is from the Liberator.
The pommel on the Dark Apprentice LE came from the (very weathered) Dk Standard Issue.
The pommel on the Dk Std. Issue came from Aeon V4.
The Liberator is sporting a Manticore Long pommel.
The Aeon V4 has what looks like a War Gaive pommel?  (to many grooves ... TCSS maybe?)
And the Manticore ...  No idea.  :-)  But it looks amazing!

Hi Karmack,

I think I know what these two pommels are but I am only 99% sure, so I have sent you a PM to let you know what I think they are.

Ah, pommel swaps. A simple way to customize things. That DSI pommel really suits the Dark Initiate LE V4, better than the pommel that comes with the DA. I have a DSI pommel on my Dominix LE V4, which also works better than the default.

It’s funny how some of them look so at home on hilts they didn’t come with. Ah the beauty of simplicity. Engineering the lines/series just close enough, but not exact as to Be able to mix and match with such ease.

And I’ll tell ya what Karmack, that’s pretty friggin good guesses!!!!( the Aeon and Manticore are sleepers/dirty tricks )

If not a welder, find one and ask to remove (cut off) War Glaive pommel threads and sit Initiate pommel inside WG pommel just enough for the hilt to connect without any issues. Can either have them weld pommels together or if they can, after WG threads are removed they can sit Initiate pommel inside and mold them together using heat. They may modify Initiate pommel slightly so that it sits within WG hole perfectly warming them until they mold together then cool in clamps. These are the results if you choose not to weld, although welding is also a good option if you decide to do so. Tip: Can do this with any pommel but be sure to look around (google, yellow pages, etc) for different custom welders and get estimates before making your choice on a place. Physically go inside and show them what you need. May just find a better price than the first location you go to. Also, explain as well as you can and if needed use words like gift for your kid. This might lighten their heart a bit and lower pricing. Best of luck! Happy Sabering. mtfbwy

Sooo, do you have a charge port on that? How do you charge it or change the battery?

everything still operates normally
WG threads were removed completely
and Initiate pommel now sits permanently inside War Glaive pommel
wouldn't suggest welding to hilt unless owner has no plans on using light again

Such a great idea. How much did that cost you if you don’t mind me asking?

well, original price was $100 for welding idea
after explaining saber assembled with no sound was much less
we came to another idea where he removes threads and molds pommels together using heat + clamps
I also mentioned it was a gift for my nephew and his heart lightened greatly then brought me down to $60
if I had looked around more I'm sure I could've found better prices but compared to $100 the $60 was fine
could weld it myself but didn't have proper tools to remove threads and do job without risking error or damage so I didn't really mind

I guess it was just hard for me to see the threads that were left. It’s a brilliant mod! I can’t say enough about how cool that is! Point

very much appreciated gum (+point)
can only hope to have an awesome collection like all of you guys. good stuff

Smart move man, smart move

almost felt like talking to a car dealer after a week of no sales lol
started off bloodthirsty until I explained things a bit more
ended up coming across a better idea than welding
but yah custom guys can be a little cutthroat

I was playing around with doing this earlier too. The Dorinian emitter looks pretty good on the Emperor's Hand too apparently. And the Dorinian pommels look great on damn near everything.

I don't know what Ultrasabers did to get the Azure Reaper emitter/pommel lined up correctly but I can't get them lined up for the life of me now. Part of the reason I'm trying other pommels LOL

I really like the Emperor's Hand emitter on the Dorinian.
