Title: Assassin's Den - AC fans unite!
Post by: CrossingStar on October 19, 2012, 08:43:45 PM
Welcome to the Den, everyone!

I think it's about time for AC fans to unite.

Great, now I want to play Assassin's Creed again. I only played the first one, which is really appalling. Oh well, I'll eventually get around to playing them. All of them.

What one is the first one? I don't have a clear headpicture of which one is first, second, etc.

The one that's simply titled, "Assassin's Creed".

The picture you posted if from the first game.  It appears to be taken in Acre, just outside the area where the Assassination target hangs around.

Didn't really enjoy the first game thanks to the gameplay, but loved the story and setting to death.

Stopped about two-thirds into the second one, much better gameplay, but then gave up and watched the cutscenes on youtube because it was getting too repetitive and never seemed to end.

Still have to play Brotherhood and Revelations, then move onto AC3.

Own all except for the first one. The first one was my younger brother's and he sold it. Got tired of the first one when it originally came out because of the repetitive gameplay. Refused to play the others until I finished the first one's story. Got out of bootcamp almost two years ago, and in my spare time played through the others until now. Currently waiting for AC3 to come out and playing still assassinating people on the multiplayer of Assassin's Creed (Reveleations since it's the most current multiplayer)

Kewl. I may be able to obtain a new AC game today for my gaming pleasure :)

I think the first one was my favorite...I loved the setting in the Crusades.  I'd run around and make up my own stories, I loved exploring the wilderness (the hub area between cities) and fighting on horseback or having a swordfight with Templars.

The AC game I have is Bloodlines, and for the PSP. It doesn't have horses :( I hope other PSP AC games have horses!!!!

I can't quite remember, but was the original AC a free-roaming game, and the missions were just there to advance the story?

Pretty much. The second one was like this too, but with much more sealed-off areas you needed to unlock through the story.

Thank you :) Also... could you get an unlimited amount of missions? That would be interesting....

Don't know about the others, but the second one had some small "side missions" that were seemingly infinite. Also I hear the new ones have multiplayer modes.

The multiplayer isn't that great.  It's fun for a few games, but it's something that I'd play a lot of.

The first was good, but really was like the Beta mode to see if there was an interest in the game.
ACII(2) was better in said that the story was more relevant than blindly following orders as is the case of the first one.
From their the follow-up expansions (Brotherhood and then Revelations) goes on to complete the story of ACII and ties up what happened after AC(1) respectively.

Further, both AC:Brotherhood and AC:Revelations has multiplayer, and though I've played both (there's a sidestory that goes along with the Multiplayers of both as you level up), the one in Revelations is better. Takes some strategy to do it right, though half the time you have people just blatantly running around and alerting you to who your assassin/target is.

SCORE!!! Just traded video games with an old friend of mine. I ended up getting Assassin's Creed 1, 2,  and Brotherhood from him :) In exchange I gave him my old Halo games. I would have just gotten 1 and 2, but he said he didn't like Brotherhood, so he gave it to me for free. I don't really care for Halo anymore, so it was a really good trade. Well, more than good :D In any case, I won't be playing them until thanksgiving break. Too busy at the moment.

I posted this in the Assassins movie thread but I want you guys to see it,

The interactive Assassin's Creed 3 trailer below allows you to choose Connor's adventure as he makes his way through the bloody battle of Bunker Hill towards his target Major John Pitcairn.

It shows off  the diversity that's featured in Assassin's Creed 3, and by simply watching and following along, you can choose to make Connor go in for kills with stealth or muscle, and even choose the path, weapons, and attacks he'll use against the enemy.

(The link below will take you to it, I can't embed the trailer.)

I got that in my email, and it's very interesting. The choices branch to show some good diversity in approaching and accomplishing your goal. Very nice.

Side Note: As this is a topic about all things AC, I'm almost tempted to show a tattoo I got last October that relates to AC.

Love AC, but to give up Halo? Now that's asking a lot. You sir, are not as much of a Halo fan as I am.

Anywho.

I love Assassin's Creed. I've played all the way through all 4 main games. I am addicted and it is beautiful.

Bleh. I don't have Xbox Live anymore, and the main draw for Halo is the online multiplayer. I was also never that interested in the storyline anyway. To me, Assassin's Creed is a thousand times better ;)

Just tell them that it is an amazingly well-detailed interactive history lesson ;D Also tell them that it's all a computer simulation and that's its like a video game inside of a video game, which is pretty much the truth, at least for the first game. In the third game you will end up having to kill people in "real life". It's also not that historically accurate, obviously.

Well, AC is quite light compared to CoD when it comes to violence, but Mass Effect might spring some disturbance with the whole "I can have intercourse with blue aliens" stuff. As long as they don't already know about that and you stay away from it during the game, you should be able to play it fine.

Lol I haven't even asked them. And I've watched my cousin play CoD before, I've seen the Huger Games, I can probably handle AC and Mass Effect, right?

Well CoD isn't that bad. You can't shoot limbs off of someone, there isn't a huge amount of blood and gore, etc. The argument for CoD is that it truly can improve your dexterity and your awareness level. Same with all video games. Though it's only good if you plan on playing multiplayer online since the campaigns were good, but now they just half-arse the single-player portion of the games because they know the multiplayer is the main draw. Also, stay away from MW3. That is the only COD game I do not recommend at all.

You shouldn't have an issue convincing your parents to let you play Mass Effect though. You also don't need to have intercourse with any of the characters and it won't screw up your friendship with said characters if you choose not to have intercourse with them. The game also doesn't constantly force you to do anything of that nature, you actually have to seek it out yourself, so no worries there either. Though, be warned, once you pick it up, you can never put it down.

Man, I have been playing a little AC1, and there is nothing better than stabbing a guy through the neck. :) When I get my 360 back from my bro, not only will I have ACII he bought, but I'll buy AC1 and brotherhood and revelations. If I get the Wii U, I am getting ACIII and the Wii pro controler(looks like an xbox one)

Man such a fun series.

Borderlands: Hilarious NPC's, is practically "gun porn", and has a unique art-style.

Assassin's Creed: Awesome combat system, extreme immersion, and parkour.

Mass Effect: Space opera, tons of choices, super in-depth character customization, and extreme immersion.

;D

What I don't get is that the Assassins can survive a fall from thousands of feet by landing in a loosely packed hay pile about four feet high, but if he even touches water he instantly dies.

That's only Altair, who can't swim. Ezio can do leaps of faith into water.

Playing Assassins Creed 3(skipped Brotherhood and Revelations since I've read most of the story anyway), and I must say it's a big improvement so far. Loving it.

Is Connor actually a likeable character? What's this business with Haytham Conway? You can PM me about it if you want, so spoilers don't pop out and ruin things for others. (I love spoilers, personally.)
