Hey saber forum, Joshua here. I need some help customizing my aeon v4 saber. I have o rings for all the grooves, but I'm stumped on what to do from here. Any help is welcome.

Dude I've seen your customizing so far- looks great! 

Hmmm... Looking for more ideas eh?  Well, one thing that's popular, easy, and cheap to do is to swap your blade retention screw out for what's called a knurled screw- it's just a fancy, knob like screw that looks really cool on a saber, like a control knob or something- and added bonus is it makes it very easy/ quick to get in and out.  Knurled screws can be found at just about any hardware type store, prob for about 5 cents :). 
 
Let's see, what else... Could always do a grip/ wrap of some kind?

thanks for the input. im looking at doing a cloth or something but idk yet. im currently broke (Ultrasabers are not cheap!) but im thinking of looking at like hobby lobby or something for a wrap.

Very nice.  That was a good color choice for the leather and you can't go wrong with the O-Rings.  :)

Wow dude, nice work!  That looks amazing- good call :).  Really compliments the hilt.

Looks great! The color blend nicely. All thats left really with out some machining is change the pommel out, LED switch or guarded switch colors and maybe the LED color?

Aside from that, etching, scribing, painting a coat of arms or something. Have fun!

Dark paint (I used Testors Gunmetal and a clear coat) and you're golden.  :-)

There is only one more thing i am thinking of doing to this saber and if it works it will be GREAT!!
Not gonna spoil anything, just gonna say ima need some beads and more leather stuff... TEHEHE
PS: the o rings are mostly for while i duel my friends so i get a better grip lol

Nice job Boss! Great style with the leather and O-rings! They really clash to give it a consular feel. Can't wait to see what the surprise you have planned is!

I was inspired by this thread, so I got to customizing mine too (grab bag saber). I definitely liked the leather grip idea and the craft leather strips, but there were a few other touches I made. I bought a D-Ring at Lowe's but realized the pommel on mine was solid an inch through, so I decided to go through the base -- wasn't exactly as I'd planned, but worked out in the end. I had to thread the metal with a special drill-bit so I could use set screws that matched the rest of the US screws. Once I had done the base, I realized I wanted the blade holder screws to be reinforced. I don't know why, but that Saber always felt just a little unstable to me even twirling it around, so a second screw really helps secure it. Buying those decorative screw covers at Lowe's was easy too, they even match the ones on my Prophecy US. Overall, the one thing I'm thinking about changing is the craft leather strips, getting a brown rather than black -- or possibly tying them differently. All the same, I'm way more happy with my Aeon now and had a ton of fun customizing it!

Thanks a lot! I never considered adding sound to this saber before, always thought it was a bit on the bland side. But I never realized Ultra Sabers are great for customization, and now I'm seriously thinking about learning how to install obsidian. Glad I found this forum, there's threads here on everything you could possibly want about sabers. I've got two mystery box sabers on the way too, so I can't wait to do some different customizations for them as well.

Got another custom done on a mystery box, it was a Liberator v3 silver blade (man that thing is bright). Went with brown deer leather grip wrap, added another D-ring. It feels really good in hand...simple, but vastly improved from the vanilla state. Still have that prophecy too, needs to be customized but I don't have any ideas yet.

Do those black O-rings stay on really well? That's an amazing idea! Also, where could I get some...at Lowe's?

What size orings did you get, I want to do something similar.

O-rings are nice, cheap and easy to use for modding sabers. Also 1.5 inch shrink tubing to cover it to give a better grip also helps. I've been using 1 inch O-rings instead of the heavier ones like you did, but many more to fill the gaps. On my dorian, they relieve the sharp edges on the emitter  and around the main part of the hilt.

Nice. I actually really like that. Has a true Jedi warrior kind of look to it =] Maybe dirty the leather up some? Home depot has knurled thumb screws too that might give a cool look for the emitter section, just be careful of length x.x Unless if you have a dremel set then grinding it down some to fit properly might be kinda hard to do

I have access to a machine shop (of sorts) but not a lathe, or I would try a mod I would like to attempt to shorten a hilt I have and make it into 3 sections instead of one. I like how the emitters and pommels on some US sabers are, but I want to also section off the power button placement too. Maybe make a micro switch emplacement  instead of the anti-vandal switch.


What can I say, I like to mod my toys.

OH yeah, I also ordered 200  1.5 inch o-rings, plus some parts to maybe make some other mods.
