By far Duff, that is one of the best cult classics in the world.  I love that movie and that scene is absolutely perfect.  Thanks for sharing.  Have a point.

Man, I haven't seen that movie in ages *goes to netflix*

Even though I am quite skilled in my areas of sword work, I am not going to profess to be a master of the lightsaber. I haven't even trained a student in this yet.

I think Knight-trainer or Knight will do for me. Signifying that I am responsible for their instruction and provides a hierarchy for discipline and formality.

On other notes, any other idea contributions are always appreciated.

Does anyone think that the initiate light sabers might be too small and should go with the aeon?

For colors, I might start the beginners all with silver blades, and once they get to a more advanced level let them choose a color they like.  This way they have incentive to continue training, and picking their own color lets them personalize their saber a bit more without changing its dynamics at all.  And, it'll allow you and the other instructors (if there are more) to quickly identify who is a beginner and who isn't.

for 8-14 year olds, Initiates will be a fine size. I can (after a little self adjustment) hand and a half my initiate, and I have fairly large hands. I doubt that many kids that age will have hands anywhere close to my size or larger, so initiates should be fine.

Prophecies work well in smaller hands also. My 4 year old has no problems with his Prophecy and a 36" UEMG... the heavies are too heavy for him though.

I was thinking initiates with heavy grade? Though I wonder if I should see about getting normal size blades or stick with the 32's they normally come with?

Haha. No, not at all. The 24" is better for my Padawan, but he likes the 36" mid. He does a great job taking out imaginary clankers in the basement, (and unreserved apologies to any droids offended by my clanker slur).

While I am used to the length of my shinai, I would like to play with a 40 inch blade so that maybe 36 full inches are exposed.

I just wonder, the 24 seems too short, I wonder if the standard is the way to go?

I recommend 32" as a solid blade length for just about anyone.  It works for kids, but isn't awkwardly short for adults either.

On the same note, the Initiate is a fine hilt.  For adults, especially those with larger hands, it works very well as a single handed hilt.  For kids or those with smaller hands, I could easily see it being used with two hands for a stronger style such as Djem So.  Of course, the Dominix and Aeon are fine hilts, and if you go for the V2 versions the skinny diameter will allow even those with tiny hands to grip it well.  My girlfriend is a little 5'2" girl, and she loves her Aeon V2.
