Does anyone know if HEMA armor vests are useable instead of the lacrosse chest plates for lightsaber dueling ? I am new to heavy dueling and don't want to but a bunch of different armors if one will do.

I use a blend of 4mm thick yuft leather combined with 14g Chainmail...typically. The jacket you posted will mostly work. I'd say thrust will be out unless you plate the soft spots. More protection on the forearms and collarbone as well...at least if you were sparring in our group.
