Yeah I agree with Amanita, the claws and hilt should be offered with different options, because a black hilt with silver claws, or vise versa would really make them pop.

I understand, Wolfen.  It's definitely not a saber made for mass appeal.  It has to resonate with a particular kind of person.  I happen to be that kind of person which why I made those imposing, badass claws.  ;D

You read my mind, Amy.  I was thinking of an LE version of this saber with nickel plated claws, black anodized body, silver vertical grips cut in afterwards, and a nickel plated pommel.  I was also thinking of offering some other LE body colors, like maybe blood red, or midnight blue.  Of course, we will likely offer a regular "Dark" version of it with just raw aluminum claws, raw aluminum pommel, and black anodized body which would cost less.

And to put everyone's fears at rest, this will not be some super expensive saber, it will be on par with our other multi-piece sabers like the Bane, Shock, Arbiter and Catalyst and there will be a stunt version that you can always upgrade to sound later.

It has always been my goal to get more people into our little hobby by making high quality sabers at bargain prices.  I have not compromised one bit on that goal.

Nice! I hope sound is offered like the Bane, an optional extra, as opposed to the rattlesnake, where sound was included by default. Because that limited edition with nickel plating sounds SWEET. Hella sweet. But I never use sound. One, it's expensive (For $150 I could get a second saber instead), and two- I often use my sabers when cosplaying in public, and I've been growled at before, for using a saber with sound. Somebody pretty much ordered me to turn it off because the sound annoyed them.
I wonder if the aluminum finish on the final version will be smoother? More along the lines of the Shock, perhaps? The prototype looks more like the Liberator's no frills finish.

BTW- in regards to sweet sabers at great prices, I think I might have gotten you guys some more customers. In a discussion on www.cosplay.com, I posted a link to the plastic-hilted phantom, and immediately several people started raving over the price. So I told them about the metal version, which is only a little more expensive, and how you guys are in the habit of creating great props at great prices. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them actually end up buying:)

Ultra adding multiple compatible 'claws' to your line-up will make you tons of money!  Some may want them big, some small. Plus being able to mix and match different ones would be a really cool and simple way to customize a saber. Having a large pommel is also smart to balance the weight. Very impressive! Didn't see this coming at all!

Love it. I think the design of the saber itself is great. And also interested that it is MHS compatible. Very interested to see what other claw designs you have up your sleeves. Sold me on the windows on the side of the emitter. Now a yellow saber...uh....saber overload for me. I like the extra grip on the bottom of the hilt as well. The one thing I always loved about the Luke ROTJ is the metal grip. Feels great on the hands and for sure does not make me lose it. Think this may be my first saber with official sound when you offer it up. Also, think you need the Ip Man soundtrack more too  8)

The windows on the emitter should be brought into designs in the future, I like to say I'm on the light side of the force, and this is too dark for me...  What would be cool is if more claw 'expansions' were made US could experiment with say the guard thing that is on yoda's saber, or something of that nature that isn't too imposing.

This is one sweet looking saber, and I can't wait to see what the finalized version will look like, especially after anodizing.

That being said, I do have two critiques.
One, with a name like  "War  Glaive", I automatically thought that this was going to be a pole-arm type saber, like the old PVC yari (spear-saber) you used to sell. (I have a SCA background, so when I hear glaive, I think of the French pole-arm, not the super-shuriken from Krull.)
Two,  this saber looks rather heavy/bulky in the vid. This, however, may be just my personal taste coming into play, after all, you did explain where the saber's balance-point lay during the video.

Okay, now that I've gotten that off of my chest, let me reiterate that this is one sweet saber design, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing what the final production model sill look like.  ;D

Yes, I like what I'm hearing, this is exactly to my taste as well. Both the LE and regular Dark version ideas sound really cool. I think that's one of the reasons why I like the Dark Standard Issue's look so much, it has that cool combination of black and silver/metallic coloration that I find very appealing.

And yes, I concur with what was said about the sound being optional rather than default, I prefer the no-sound option myself for both financial and other reasons.

Very much looking forward to the black anodizing and windows. I'd love one with sound but to be honest I'm getting tired of the old MR/Hasbro FX soundcards. Any possible chance of being able to get one of the removable blade cards as an option sometime? The search function didn't seem to find a thread or post about this.

I will be absolutely getting a dark version of this when it becomes available.

Two seemingly innocuous tourists spot each other, and their faces tighten into hard glares. From underneath their coats come the lightsabers, ignited..and the fight is on!

If its all the way through that choke section as it appears this saber ought to be an awesomely secure 'gorilla' dueling hilt with Heavy Grade blades eh?

I love this design 'as is' but as I was looking again at it last night it occurred to me that it might look even nicer, imo, if the screws for the claws were countersunk rather than protruding buttonheads? More streamlined with nothing to distract the eye from the sheer awesomeness of those amazing claws...dunno if thats a practical suggestion, just something that popped into my Canucklehead noggin.

Yeah, if they were flush with the claws it'd look like they were permanently attached, making the saber look more realistic. Hopefully Ultra responds to your comment before too many are built and shipped.

I was looking at those claws, and thinking a little bevelling on the edges might make them look more polished. Likewise the suggestion for countersinking the screws. We'll have to wait and see what the finished version looks like. Since this is just a prototype with no set release date, I don't think we need to worry about too many being built and shipped with aesthetic flaws just yet.

Why bother with a light version? Personally I can't see it as a Jedi's weapon not even as a converted trophy, since they don't do that. I don't have a 'darksaber' yet (OK 2 Dominix V2's but brought them before Aeon came out) but this is certainly a temptation to the dark side with a nice deep red blade to really look the part. very nice design, well done.

Well, I think every Sith and Jedi's tastes are different. Just depends on who wants to buy it. Same thing with the Sith, maybe they would rather have something they can see if they leave it in a dark room, hah.

First I want two... LOL And it'd be kind of cool if the Claws could be reversible say as an add-on  so that it kind of makes a mock basket hilt.
But I'd REALLY like to know when we are looking at. I will be Deploying in the summer and I DO NOT want to miss this Sexy new saber.

This is a superb saber and I like that there are four claws and not three, which seems to be the standard for claws.

This looks awesome. I have only one minor question/concern/suggestion from a costuming standpoint.

It looks, from the video, that the activation button is in line with the four claws. I wonder then (following the standard of having the activation button facing outward when hanging on a belt) how comfortable it would be to have the claw opposite the one in line with the activation button against the leg of the wearer. I'd be interested to see the activation button set between two of the claws, so the saber can rest against the leg between two claws.

Obviously it's not my design and ultimately it's a small concern, I just figured Id throw the feedback out there.

I can think of another fun spot to duel in NYC- In lower Manhattan, there's a massive, and I do mean Massive office tower, 55 Water street. And that skyscraper's got the loveliest plaza, known as the Elevated Acre. Now that would be a fun place to duel, although I dunno if building security would like that >:(

Yeah, I can see that now- A lone Jedi and Sith going at it on the plaza, when they are interrupted by several of 55 Water's security staff..brandishing lightsabers! Now THAT would be a duel to see! Jedi vs Sith vs Suits!

I can see that taller security guard in the first pic with a bane or a lightstaff..But I suspect the lady with him might have some tricks up her blazer sleeves too, lol. I wonder what color sabers though- white, like the Imperial Knights? Red, since a lot of people think corporate types are evil, or green, the color of money? (Also the color of the uniforms worn by that building's engineering staff, go figure!)

Jedi would win for sure. Everyone knows the light side always prevails!

But that begs the question of which side the suits are really on:) Some anti-authoritarian types look at suit and tie wearing guards and think "Evil!", while others see them as being on the side of good, keeping a building and its occupants safe. Others might see them as mercs of a sort, only there for the paycheck.

Me? I think a squad of force-trained security personnel would be a bit like SW: Legacy's Imperial Knights. They wear uniforms, and their role is protective/defensive in nature. And like the Imperial Knights, I can see these types drawing from teachings of both sides of the force- whichever helps get the job done. But primarily, they're on the side of good.

like on battlefront 2 its like u dont even have to play if you pick heroes cuz you gunna win... but u have to work your bottom off if you pick sith and you are still gunna lose

That place looks epic, if anyone gets to duel there you need to set up about five or six cameras to get some footage.

Too bad security probably wouldn't like it if we staged a duel there..Although it depends on who's on duty on any given night. Some might be cool, as long as it was obviously not an actual brawl, and the participants were careful not to damage anything. And if the duellists were REALLY serious, they might be able to get Official Permission, as that elevated acre is often used for events. Dunno how much they would charge for the use of the place for about an hour or so after dark, for a little fun and friendly duelling.

I've hung out there during daylight hours, it's a pretty nice place, and it's quiet most of the time, except for lunch when the office workers come out.

If you ask Ultra really nicely he might help with some of the cost as a promotion for Ultra Sabers, that way you could get the permission and set up a few cameras

LOL, we just don't want to give a date and then have a hiccup in production.  I can tell you what our goals are, we plan to have a presale promotion sometime during February and then the actual release a few weeks after.

Is ther any chance you can give us a rough price for this awesomeness?

this will probably be one of the more expensive sabers i would say about 150.0.

More than a dollar, less than a million.

All joking aside, if I had a solid answer, I'd give it to you.  All I can say is it will be priced comparatively to our other premium sabers.

As soon as it comes out, I am going to buy it. I just know as soon as it comes out there will be some sort of LE or special edition to it that I am going to want and regret for not buying....grrrr.....either way. This saber will be fine. Hopefully in Amber or Tatooine Orange.

Amber/Tatooine Orange, my bad, I meant yellow, as in a blade. Would want a black hilt. Silver you could customize, so I am a little on the fence about it.

I AM STOKED!!!  Unfortunately, after purchasing 4 sabers at once, I now have no saber money.  Not until I either A) win the lottery, or B) get a better job.  Which really isn't fun, because I really want the War Glaive.

@Marcos:  It'd be a standard (almost) MHS saber.  The claws are kind of the highlight of the saber.

Although, you do bring up a good point about the extravagence.  I'm not saying "Get rid of the claws", but I think it'd be cool if there were interchangeable claws for those of us who might like to try something smaller.

either way, that windowed emitter looks badass with and probably without the claws mounted.  ;D

I already asked this in another forum about the war glaive, the answer from Ultra: "patience", but basicly yes

I'm sure the answer is positive, but will there be a coupler offered? I can only imagine that a War Glaive staff is coming aswell. All I can say is, if yes, that would be bombbad wicked.
