What would be you guys' idea to add some black details to the grip area? Use some kind of enamel to paint in the valley of the grips or find some adhesive rubber strips? If the strips do you think I could get them to set in the valleys or would it work/look better to stick them between the cuts on the high spots?

Secondly I like the idea of having a clamp on. How do you think it would sit if I drilled a hole to fit over the AV switch so the box was in the 3 o'clock position? Is that even a plausible idea?

Lastly

Trying to get something close to Anakin's first saber.

I'd think it'd be pretty easy to fab up a small D ring to be held on by the upper brass screw. Especially since that's purely cosmetic since when it hangs it'll be from the Covertec.

All of those things you mention are possible and TCSS has all of the parts you need, including the adhesive grips.

I'm aware. Have a cart full of everything already. 

I just wasn't sure how well the adhesive strips worked in general and in this application (sitting in a concave channel)

Oh that. They're wider than the channels. You'll have to trim them if you want them down in.  Or the sticky sticks along the edges.

I used gold tape on my Dark Prophecy to fill in the insets by the switch
