Alright, I'm about to order my parts to build my lightsaber. But I need to know, what battery pack do I use with the Seoul P4 LED light? My choices are 9 volts, AA's, AAA's, and that's it. I don't wanna hurt anything. So, what's the best choice?
Thanks in advance.

With Ultrasabers a red or orange led takes a double AAA pack and all the others take a quad AAA pack or the Li-Ion batt setup.

You should get a AAA pack. That's what Ultra uses for his sabers, and I believe he uses Seoul P4's. 2AAA for Red or Amber, and 4AAA for Blue, Green, White, etc.

Do you need the buckpuck?  I'm looking at getting the standard LED module in blue, can I hard wire straight to a AAA 4pack or do I need to resist?

PS - I understand that resistance might be futile.  Tongue

Thanks,

You'll need something to wire it up like that, either a buckpuck or the appropriate resistor.  Four AAA batteries provides 6V of power, and the Seoul P4 really shouldn't go much above 4V or so.

Just go with the buckpuck and save a lot of headache figuring out the resistor you'll need. That way you can also run quick disconnects without any problems  Cool

Done and done.  Ordered them today.  This is for my Graflex 3-cell I mentioned in my "Newby" introduction thread.  I'm going to hold off on sound and rewire when I have more funds.

Secondary question, I haven't seen anything yet (in my admittedly limited forums searching) around how the the soundcard recognizes movement and "clashes".  Is that inherent into the soundcard, or is there a secondary movement detector you have to buy for that?

Thanks for bearing with the sophomoric questions!  Once I get the parts, I'll take pics of the true Graflex build.

The Obsidian Soundcard has a motion and a clash sensor incorporated into the board.  You won't need anything else.  If you are planning to run a sound board in your saber, I would highly recommend using a 2 x AA battery pack and purchase the 3.7V LiIon Trustfire Batteries sold on the site.

Ordered the AAAx4 pack with buckpuck for the blade.  If I go Obsidian, will the AAx2 w/ Li batteries and buckpuck control both sound and blade?
