Title: One hilt, three heads
Post by: Kannik on October 15, 2011, 04:13:33 AM
Hi everyone!  I got myself an Archon v2 recently along with two extra emitters.  Thought you all might like to see what the deliciously customizable Archon looks like with some of the other emitters.

First the Archon:

Next with the War Glaive head and black claws:

I really, REALLY like this look.  I’d go so far as to say it looks better than the standard War Glaive!  The black on the claws and the black on the pommel really complement each other.  It’s also a joy to hold and use.

Lastly with the Consular head:

Not so sure about this one.  It’s not bad per se, it just doesn’t seem as nice as the others.  I really like the very end of the emitter, with its broad silver disk (which is why I bought it), just that the overall effect is missing something.  I think it is the length.  Without an extended neck the sabre looks stubby this way.  An extension between the grip and the emitter itself would probably go a long way to helping it. Nevertheless it still feels great in the hand.

The MHS system is brilliant, and I love how it opens up these options and helps populate the overall lightsabre ecosystem.

Peace,

Kannik

These are great pictures. You should add the Consular and War Glaive photos to the Emitter/Pommel Reference Guide here: http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=3179.0 (http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=3179.0)

Nice, Did the War Glaive came with a retention screw for the blade?

I think I might photoshop the image sometime to see if a longer neck would help the heaviness... and then find myself a neck if it does.  :)

Ayup, it did...  :)  I love being able to swap out for whatever mood I'm in.

Ohh, yes indeed, doing that now!

Haha, thank you!  It seemed appropriate as something to rest the hilt on.  :>  Do you practice as well?

peace,

Kannik

I have Trained in TKD for 20years and Sogobujutsu for the last two.  But most of the body conditioning is the same as Chinese arts.

All three look great! As for the Consular emmitter , put a blade in and wield it a bit, I'm certain you will find it extremely comfortable !

I like the Archon War Glaive...it has a nice contrast and flow of the black and silver parts.

Very cool, sweet that you've practiced for that long too!  So far it's only been half that for me... and with no sign of it ever stopping.  :)

I am very pleased with how well that turned out, I sorta guessed how it might be when I bought it.  The claws also give it visual heft.

I have tried it and you are right it does still feel good.  Sketching it in my minds-eye I think adding even a simple 2" extension above the ribbed part of the hilt before the Consular head would change the proportions enough to make it look really slick.  The way the silver disk at the end flares out and its thickness could really crown the sabre nicely.  (so, now all I need to do is get me said extension... )
