Title: Star Wars Video Game?
Post by: weardow7 on September 19, 2012, 07:50:32 AM
OK, so I don't know how many of you have heard of Star Wars 1313 (I'm assuming everyone), but it's impending release prompts me to ask the question:

What would your PERFECT Star Wars Video Game be?

Anything goes here, so it could even just be an existing game with a few changes made, or an old game made for modern consoles/with modern graphics, or a completely new game, or an EU storyline made into a game...

The possibilities are endless.

Mine would be a single player (I don't like MMOs, otherwise I'd be spending all my time playing The Old Republic) RPG where you play through the life of a Jedi around the time of the Clone Wars and after, where the intro of the game would be training as a youngling in the temple, and then surviving Order 66, and then trying to get in touch with other Jedi and trying to avoid the empire (my favourite time period within the Star Wars universe is the years between episode 3 and episode 4, I love thinking about what I would do if I'd survived order 66 as a Jedi).

It would be open world, pretty much think Skyrim, but in the Star Wars universe, so you'd be able to create and customize your character. You'd be able to travel to other planets whenever you want, as after Order 66 you acquire a ship. You can choose your own path after Order 66, whether you abandon the morals of the Jedi code in favour of taking revenge on the empire, using your abilities and powers to become a damn good bounty hunter, or trying to restart your own Jedi Order.

I would literally never play any other game if that came out haha.

So... Your turn!

I'm talking Pre-NGE, Pre-CU (CU wasnt as bad as NGE but still), but with better graphics and some cool features they added on in later years like flying your ship in the planets atmosphere and landing it and such.

Hmmm good question.  I would personally like to play something that's between Jedi Academy (JK3) and The Force Unleashed in terms of gameplay, but set during the New Jedi Order series.  Fighting Yuuzhan Vong as my favorite EU characters?  Totally badass.

Of course, something set during the OT would be awesome too, I'd love to be able to play through classic moments in the movies.

A new x-wing game. Not that garbage rogue squadron starfox with a starwars skin.

But another well done with modern graphics xwing starwars game, that takes you all through the war after palpatines death untill the truce is signed with the imperial remnant.

Or better yet, one that takes place during the vong war, i really would love to blast a few coralskippers.

Oh man, a Vong-killing game would be ridiculously amazing. On a similar note, I actually think that a FOTJ-based game would be awesome. Some mystery elements, general creepiness, a cosmic storyline and epic action.

Truth!  Or maybe they can just make a series... starting with NJO.

First game:  New Jedi Order
Second game:  Dark Nest
Third game:  Legacy of the Force
Fourth game:  Fate of the Jedi

The cool part about FotJ is that they probably wouldn't have as many characters to focus on... but then again I think it'd be fun to play as all different characters in NJO.

Heck yeah! So Mother/Abeloth would be not only the final boss of that game, but the final boss of the entire series.... that seems fitting.

It would make a pretty mean buildup, although it would be a little tough to even out the various games.  You'd have a MASSIVE NJO game, then a teeny Dark Nest one, then a mid sized LotF lol

i would actually like to see in a jedi based game, things going on with other characters before the vongese ware as well, the galaxy didnt revolve around the skywalkers, im sure guys like corran and kyp got up to some interesting antics in the years leading up to the war

Yeah I was always a bit disappointed at how little those characters really play into things.  They do have bigger parts in various parts of NJO, but past that they're just part of the Council... which basically means they sit in their temple and deliberate lol

Some character development of them would be nice, and playing as them would be AWESOME.

All good suggestions. Personally, I would like a real multiplayer simulator setup. Your controller is an X-Wing, Y-Wing, TIE, etc cockpit and you fly your missions with the actual controls. I'd want to play that every day. Heck, I'd wear the gear while I played.

Buy some Battletech Sim Pods and refurbish them...

I think that might be better suited to the role of a Veritech Fighter than an X-Wing, but I still want one.

HOW expensive? I didn't see any info on buying them, just that there are 42 or so in private hands. Then again, my search was brief.

When they do come up for sale (a rarity, given that they just aren't made anymore), it's usually word of mouth between mech business owners. Truthfully, if you wanted to buy some from the people that own them, they will quote you a grossly inflated price per pod simply because they are precious commodities in the battletech community.

You'd be better off building your own simulators, honestly.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Battlefront_III (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Battlefront_III)

On April 1, 2012, a user on the game journalist website Betagames discovered Star Wars models and textures buried in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City's archives. PC Gamer's Tom Senior speculated that these could have been from Battlefront III.[15] Also in April 2012, Past to Present revealed pre-alpha footage of Free Radical Design's Battlefront III.[16] YouTube videos showing the game's rough state received media attention from outlets such as Joystiq,[17] Kotaku,[18] and Shacknews.[19]

There is a very strong chance.

That game has been dead for years.  Free Radical closed while working on it, then it went to Rebellion and I think they closed too, or they officially cancelled it.

To me the perfect SW game would be a game with the gameplay of Jedi Academy(best saber dueling system EVER), the graphics of TFU, and set across various different eras(SWTOR, Clone Wars, Civil War, Post-Empire, etc).

Also, I'd love to see a new FPS like Battlefront 3, but since that's dead I guess it has to be a new title.

Yeah, BF 3 has already been made, it's just cancelled, sitting around somewhere, not being played by its many, many potential fans.

If they were going to release it, it would already be released, which is a massive shame, because that game would be absolutely AMAZING.

Also, just to contribute one more idea, I heard someone else mention it at one point (not on these forums):

Han Solo: The Game.

Seriously, a game where you just play as Han Solo throughout his life, meeting Chewie and starting life as a smuggler, running jobs for Jabba and getting into trouble with the Empire. then playing through the Trilogy as Han, and maybe even beyond that too.

Sort of free roaming, but mostly just RPG storyline stuff. Lots of fun I reckon. :D

^ Yeah, that would be awesome. Maybe with Boba Fett and other non-jedi characters as well, kinda like with SW: Bounty Hunter was.

I want to see Battle Front span not just TCW and GCW, but a historical campaign... spanning back to the Great Hyperspace War... It would be really crazy, and I doubt it could be done feasibly, but It's my fantasy and I want to see it lol.

I have a few ideas for games, but I don't say them aloud because I swear my house is bugged... The second I come up with a cool Star Wars idea a freaking month later it gets done... I want to get paid for these ideas lol.

Umm... Dude, what you just described sounds like one of the coolest super powers I've ever heard of - mention an awesome Star Wars game, and it immediately gets made?

I would start yelling them out like crazy, dude, I wouldn't even stop talking.

Seriously, playing the greatest Star Wars game ever made would be reward enough in my opinion, haha. :D

I started talking about how cool it would be to do a video utilizing Trakata in the dark to throw off your opponents... Not three weeks later TFU II released their trailer with Starkiller doing just that against stormtroopers.

I came up with an idea for a new form of lightsaber combat that utilized the Force to redirect the path of a lightsaber blade... In advanced techniques a Jedi would actually stop the lightsaber blade with the Force.... I called it Way of the Nexu; probably a month later Satele Shan was featured in the TOR cinematic doing just that against Malgus.

I had an idea a while back for a Star Wars horror game... You start out as a Jedi who survived Order 66, you take it upon yourself to go and eradicate the Sith yourself. The first level is you sneaking through the Emperor's new palace on Coruscant, you make it to his throne room, and he kicks the everliving out of you. When you wake up he's stranded you inside a cave on some obscure Sith planet. This cave is made to be a place of torture for Jedi, if you use the light side of the Force you get attacked by all the Sith alchemy enhanced monsters in the cave. If you turn on your lightsaber you get attacked, if you do anything you get attacked. The easy way to survive is by giving into the dark side, which also has consequences.... Basically it's one of those no matter what you do you're screwed kind of bits.

Anyways, this is a vague overview, but the actual application would be far more sinister and thrilling.

i agree. but bigger world, beautiful graphics (i LOVE games with gorgeous graphics! im a bit of a graphics snob sometimes) skyrim style as someone else said. but with the option of multiplayer (like, up to four), maybe like borderlands 2- i just love the ease with which you can swap between games and characters and join friends games in borderlands 2! but ive always loved the idea of skyrim multiplayer, and a beautiful enormous open world kotor multiplayer would just be amazing! (i like playing coop in games with my other half :) its gaming, but not being completely antisocial or ignoring him!)

and less laggy and glitchy bits with quicker loading screens than kotor has. that frustrates me somedays

HELL YEA!!!!!!!!!!     i am working on finding a free server group that is reviving the game, under their own programming... plus, just for legalities.. yes they can do this... why???... cause any of the files that SOE had on the old SWG... are gone.. they even stated it themselves... thus, ANYONE that wants to start from scratch, and rebuild the game programming, is allowed to.. so long as they use their own codding... there is another post i had about this subject... i for one, back them 100% in this project, SWG died WAY before its time... all thanks in part t the worst game trade in history of starwars.. lucas arts sold it to SOE.. witch then tried to turn it into wow... the community literally left.. within a 24 hours period.. anyone playing it now, if its still up, will be playing solo.. for along time, almost none in that game anymore, but then again, its the run down of what SOE did to it...

SWG showed true jedi/sith abilities, and bounty hunters were able to actually hunt down other jedi/sith players, for bounty missions... it was the best starwars in history.. and there will never be a better one till it is revived..... this is my opinion..

not to mention player housing, player community in politics, players could create their own small cities in planets.... i mean if you thought about it in the SWU... you could almost definitely do it in the game SWG.... there was even pvp in the form of taking over planets... as the never ending battle of the republic and the empire raged on through the game plays of real life people... my god was it the golden age of Star Wars games if i ever seen one... who wants to play a bounty hunter, and go kill players that are jedi/sith. then take their lightsabers to hang up in your personal home as trophies.... talk about bragging rights as the most skilled bounty hunter in the game?......
