Title: Catalyst
Post by: AerykGunn on June 10, 2011, 04:45:18 AM
Does the blade actually fit out of the top? I am debating getting this one now, but the top does NOT look like a blade would fit in lol... any help?

Nevermind. I saw a pic. It's bigger at the end then it looks on the picture I swear.

Well I just ordered the Catalyst and can't wait :)

I just realized it worked out well that I didn't get the Aeon because of the reorganizing (or not reorganizing?) and stuff, and sure I ended up spending money on something more expensive, but I ended up getting something else I wanted that was important: Sound! Cheaper Sound! Modifiable Sound! And a better more unique looking saber than just the Aeon :) So I am happy. Thanks Ultra! May the Force be with you!

The Catalyst is a great saber and one of my favorites. It's a tight fit for the blade.

You should def make a review when you get it, I've had my eye on the catalyst as well but there's very few reviews on them.  What color did you get?

I got blue, it's to be my first Jedi Saber. and I will try my best to get a review out. And after I show my girlfriend, I might be getting her the consular with a red blade. I will try to get out a review as soon as possible, and maybe even a video if I feel up to it. Never done a review before, and i'm not VERY technical but again I will try my best.

Blue is a great color, should look great on the Catalyst too.  Good call on the red saber for your girlfriend too, always fun to get them into the habit!  My girlfriend has a purple Archon (an older PVC model).

That's the one she wanted. Not really getting her into the habit, she loves video games and stuff as much as I do.  ;D

I have mine in Fire Orange with the Ultra Blade. I plan on replacing the Ultra Blade with a Mid Grade as others have said the Mid Grade show the true color. The Ultra blades make the color look softer but more uniform. Thats what the consensus says, have'nt seen it myself.

I accented my Catalyst hilt with black o-rings.

My future plans are to replace the MR sound board with a petit crouton so I can have accent LEDs, blade flicker and an aux switch for blaster deflection. When Ultra gets his custom operations up I wonder if I can send the hilt in to be nickel plated or powder coated.

The saber handles well. Gripping it feels perfect.

There is no covertec clip on it though I'm sure that can be added if you request it. I noticed a threaded hole at the bottom of the pommel. I saw on TCSS a screw in D-clip that will fit perfectly in there.  It's possible that a re-charge port can go in there as well should I want to convert to Li-ion.

This saber has lots of cutomization potential.

That's good to know. I heard that the UltraEdge makes the blade brighter and thicker looking, while midgrade/heavygrade make it look more... slim? like the sequel blades or something? something like that. :)

Yeah there's a few people who have had this discussion on the boards.  The standard ones are basically clear polycarbonate, so show the LED color well.  The Ultraedge have the white blade that diffuses the light so it reaches to the entire width of the blade, giving it a more full light that looks more like the rotoscoping you see in the prequel trilogy (clear white core, with colored edges)

Eh well. Whatever. I think I'll like the Ultra Edge more but. :) we'll see Monday. (( T_T wish it was sooner))

So I haven't gotten my saber yet, but just realized an issue for when I do get it. I didn't order batteries with it, and I'm not sure which batteries I should get. I'd like to make sure I have plenty in stock (Or rechargeable ones) ahead of time so that I'm not sitting there staring at my saber in hate and anger and do something stupid like slay someone with my REAL sword.. :) Anyideas? It's a Catalyst with Obsidian soundboard and a blue blade.

The batteries are just 4x AAA batteries.  You shouldn't have to worry too much about different brands or anything.  And BTW, despite the fact that you didn't order batteries, Ultra usually includes some anyways.  Just because he's that awesome.

Okay so good news is there were batteries in them (Thanks Ultra!) But I had to change them soon.. that or I did something stupid... anyways..

How long would duracell batteries last? ^_^ Cause I just put some in there maybe an hour ago, and i've been playing with it sense <  < and it keeps flickering a LOT and dimming a bit. NOt sure if it's just getting into the groove of things, or what but. eh.
