Hey forum.  I've recently been thinking about getting a cross guard saber (Renegade LE or Flamberge maybe). I was wondering if anyone had one, if so, do you have a preference, and what do you think of them overall? Would also appreciate any reviews and pictures.

I don't own either but I've seen Lady Revan, Samhain138 and Darth Cephalus using a Flamberge. It seems far more practical for actual use than the Renegade to me.

Renegade is a beast. Don't own one, but I've hefted it at a local con.
I'd be more likely to go with the Flamberge, becausze it handles more easily.
And I would definitely listen to what DC has to say on the subject

comparing my Flamberge to the Renegade I saw at the con last week, Flamberge is the more wieldable. They're both MASSIVE though.

Plus the V2 has pretty patterning on the body of the hilt.

I'm thinking V2 maybe. Want something with some design to it.

I've been thinking about it, and I will either get a Flamberge V2 or most likely, the Renegade with the silver claws!! I know it's a MONSTER! so is the Malice....and I will have one of those as well.

Something totally different, Renegade, silver claws, Dark Violet Amethyst, the purple shining on the silver claws would look really cool I think :P

Lots of people have these hilts, I’m surprised more haven’t chimed in.

I have the Flamberge (all black) and it has some serious wow factor. Although it’s large, it’s very comfortable because of the streamlined hilt body.

People mentioned that the cross guard will come around and bite you while wielding it. I laughed it off until it happened to me lol. So, it does take some practice to swing effectively ... to which I’m still not effective :)

My long term goal was to slowly take it apart until I had a unique lightsaber I was happy with. I’m there now (single LED, no crossguard) but due to the design of the main crossguard piece mine really wont go back together as it came so, buyer beware.

It was a fun investment ... as an aside I’d suggest the Flamberge over the Renegade to cut back on the pokey edges. Either way, I hope you enjoy whatever you decide.

Thanks much. I like the look of the Renegade but I think I would seriously hurt myself. I'll check out the review. I've looked at several reviews thus far. Going to do some more research.

Flamberge V2 in Dark Violet Amethyst wouldn't look half bad either, or go really different and do Pyrestone Orange :P

What about a Renegade SE ( all silver) with black emmitters, pommel, AV switch, and claws.

I have the Renegade; all black. It's massive, but I love it. It's a beast of a hilt that from my perspective, is something a massive, Viking-like Dark Side warrior would wield :)

Obviously, it's substantially more difficult and less comfortable to wield than a standard hilt, but that's its purpose to me. It's like a "heavy bat" - like swinging two bats or a weighted bat when you're on deck... when you step up to the plate, you can swing a normal bat like it's nothing. I practice spinning the Renegade single handed, like any other hilt and eventually... I've gotten better at it.

I have looked at the Flamberges, and they are nice.  However, that Renegade LE calls to me the way Luke's saber called out to Rey.

I'd enter in the summer raffle and you might end up getting one of wanted sabers after all if you haven't already :P

Zren,I've got two entries in the raffle. I'm hoping I can win at least one.  But it would crazy if I won two sabers!! I think I'd go for the Renegade LE.
