Title: Mixed phantom initiate idea, opinions wanted
Post by: Kyyanno on November 18, 2014, 01:03:00 PM
I've currently got a Dark Initiate V3 LE stunt saber in FO, and have been considering getting a saber with sound & coupler to bolt onto it to form a Phantom. However, what I'm considering is getting an Initiate V3 LE in CG (maybe with Orange FoC) and two adjustable couplers (one silver, one black), splitting them to create a mixed colour coupler so that the saberstaff runs Dark Initiate, silver coupler section, black coupler section, Initiate. With the mix in colour I was hoping for a kind of dark side/light side split.

Opinions?

The staff itself shouldn't be especially large - no larger than something like a Reaper or Guardian staff that I've seen around.

I'd be interested to see the finished product - I like mismatched staffs :)

EDIT: I forgot about adjustable couplers...

Hi.  May be misunderstanding you.  I'm pretty sure that you can't join or screw together two couplers since the ends are both the same.  There is no male and female threading to join them.  Suggest getting a silver adjustable coupler and putting black 0 rings in the grooves (x4).  Looks good for any hilt silver/black combo.   :)

Yes, I'd figured that one, hence the idea is to get an adjustable coupler of each colour, separate them and put back together with one black section, one silver section - that way you have a half and half coupler that will screw into the end of each saber. There would only be one split coupler used, I'd be left with a half black/half silver coupler spare.

Clever idea!  Will await to see a photo of the results.  You were quite clear but I haven't had enough coffee yet.  Point for you.   :)

Now that sounds really interesting! Would love to see a photo of that combo!
@James: the staff hilt would only be slightly longer than a single Reaper hilt since he uses two Initiates and a single coupler ;) Even the whole staff with Initiate blades wouldn't be that long...

I believe he's refering to the adjustable couplers in taking 2 and mix n match them so one part of the couupler is silver and the other is black
