I'm leaning towards getting a Dark Initiate V2, and I wanted to ask about some specifics not mentioned on the item's page. 1) Does it come with a charger or do you have to use disposable (use and throw away) batteries? 2) Does it have a power drain on the batteries when not in use? 3) How long (continuously) does it last from full charge? I'd love to know these things before I purchase the saber, so if you guys can answer them, thank you

The standard set-up for batteries uses alkalines, the size and quantity will depend on the hilt size and LED colors in some cases. If you upgrade to Lithium-Ion batteries, then the saber comes with the required sizes batteries and a charger. Out of my sabers, only one uses standard alkalines (4xAAA with a Guardian Blue LED) and that lasts maybe 90 minutes on a full set before it fades too much. My other sabers use lithium-ions, and I get about an hour of solid brightness out of my Consular Green LED, while the color mixed LED for my Violet Amethyst last about 45 minutes before the color starts to fade. I have not had any problems with passive battery drain so far, but I'm also using my sabers almost daily, so I recharge frequently.
Either way, having lithium-ion will save money in the long run, and the brightness of your blade will not fade slowly as the batteries drain like an alkaline setup.

Hmmm the V2 series is a saber that requires triple A or double A batteries depending on color, since it is a V2 series it doesnt come with the lithium & charger option. As far as I know, I have never encountered 'battery drain' in a V2, but I have with the Lithium ions in my Bellicose. As far as how long the batteries last, the sabers typically last a long time. Some have said non stop for a continuous hour, but mine have had to last much longer than that! Especially after how long I and a buddy used em outside. More than an hour:P and still shining! The V2 is a good saber, search your feelings! You know it be true!;] I have the long version, its awsome! Hope this helps!

my CG prophecy uses the 4x AAA setup. Ive had it for a month and only changed the batteries once. (The original ones it came with lasted like 2 weeks of training before even dimming)
If you use decent quality bateries you can get a good battery life out of them. The set in there now are on maybe hour 5 of use and still bright as heck.

the differences would be mainly cosmetic http://www.ultrasabers.com/product-p/darkprophecy%20v3.htmmine is a v3 so i could put sound in it if i wanted. But honestly just dont cheap out on the batteries and you will be fine. Or do what one of my buddies did. He has a staff thats made up of two dominix v2 hilts they use a 2x AAA setup I believe. Just get a few sets of rechargable AAA batteries and keep spares on hand, its pretty quick to change them out.

*nods* Okay. I wasn't sure how drastically sabers differed from each other. Thanks so much!

the guts are all pretty much the same with only a bit of variation between the 3 power setups
even adding an obsidian board doesnt change the internals drastically, save for the board itself being there, and the speaker on the battery pack of course

No prob! I think you'll be very satisfied with the saber!! From your questions, I can kinda draw out some of your expectations, and from having owned and experienced both dominix/aeons and intiate V2's I think the saber will exceed your expectations! What color are you thinking?

I was thinking AS, or AB. Those would be awesome colors. Though maybe orange or red would be appropriate if you wanted to play up the Sithiness of the hilt My family has it in their heads that my interest in sabers is a passing fad, though, so it may be awhile until I actually manage to get my Initiate V2...right now my Mum's getting me a Darth Maul saberstaff from Walmart...which is cool in it's own right.

I want a silver saber reeeeally badly. you can get color filters to changes the colors of the saber! AB i hear is an amazing color in its own right as well! but I think you want a Real saber!! XD One you can fight with it if you desire. You wont have to worry about the saber breaking on contact, I have 10, and they are as tough as they are BRIGHT ! nothing at walmart compares! Brighter than any saber you have ever seen! Made of metal, and blades made for Hard contact! I have 10 sabers, 2 fire orange sabers, 3 red sabers, 1 blue, 1 green, 1 yellow, 1 violet amethyst, and 1 pyrestone orange saber I can tell you that these things are awesome! This is only a few but to give you an idea, but I think your money would be better spent(or eventually spent on) an ultrasaber. They will last a lot longer!

Right now it's just my training saber so I can start to get used to the different moves. With a saberstaff, though, that's a bit more difficult ;(
It's not that bad, actually. Named it Oppress already.
