Blue Lantern Corps Saber (In Progress)

My plan is to:
1. Make a crack in the emitter
2. Weather the saber using Aluminum Black and scotch Brite
3. Leather Wrap the handle with a crocodile design cowhide leather
4. Create a chipped paint effect on the rest of the hilt
5. Using a coin blank, cut a hole in the center to place over the av switch and have it curve with the hilt
6. Etch the Blue Lantern Logo on the surrounding coin blank
7. Place a Rhinestone over the illuminated av switch (center of the logo)
8. Paint "Hope" in Aurabesh around the circumference of the saber.

Step 2 done, only part not weathered is the grip due to me leather wrapping it anyway.

I saw a video where the guy heated up the metal so the aluminum black would apply on better. Like it would get into the pores of the metal. It also seemed to go on quicker. How are you applying the aluminum black?

Lol. I dont have the money for that lol. I would love to have all of them on the same hilt. I hope, no pun intended, to inspire anyone who ends up mak8ng the others because I love all of them. Blue is just the tops for me. If I could make one more itd be either Red Lantern or Orange.

I didnt because I didnt remove the electronics, scratching it up with scotch brite then using a q-tip painting the chemical on. I wouldnt recommend heating the hilt then applying because the heat and chemical isnt too safe.

That looks awesome the way you did it. Looks like you pulled it from Mustafar. Looks definitely scorched and burnt by fire. Great job! Are you going to seal it some how? Does that stuff rub off? I've known about that stuff just never tried it. I was planing on it once I got a hilt I was wanting to do it on. +1

Its a chemical reaction that actually turns the aluminum itself black. Sanding it isnt rubbing of the black, it rubs the thin layer of aluminum that turned black. At first there are bits of carbon but after a rub down and a day it doesnt rub off.
