I tend to do wrist wraps(rolls) rather than finger. partially because it adds to the illusion a bit, but also because with a little bit of practice I actually find it a touch easier. As for blocking/planning - it all depends. Some songs lend themselves to blocking, other's it is better to free flow with it.
Interesting. Didnt even realize that wrist rolls were a thing for saber flow. I guess I just have to keep at it. Just seems so hard to get smooth and not feel like Im going to drop the saber. I am concentrating sooooooo hard on just the finger roll that I feel the rest of my routine suffers from it. I need bigger hands or a smaller diameter saber

All this saber talk made me feel like going out and messing around. That and too much coffee

No, thank you for posting killer vids! Love these extra effects, they really add to the performance. I can almost hear Han Solo saying "hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid!". And, what’s the midichlorian count for the cat? Has to be pretty high.... Fabulous! The body rolls are just way too cool! Tier 0 stuff. I appreciate the offer and will try to get some videos posted. Or, if you have videos that I should watch I will do that too. I’ve watched many of the training videos that Cephalus and Venturous have posted and they’ve been a great help. Just some things I get stuck on. Obviously as you keep going things get more advanced so more practice is required. I remember back when I thought the ObiAni spin or clockface spin was complicated! To both of you: what hilts and blade length do you guys usually use? Is 32” optimal or would something slightly shorter be better for spinning? Curious. I have just 32” blades right now but have considered something shorter. venturous uses something shorter in many of his training videos.

quote thing - "To both of you: what hilts and blade length do you guys usually use? Is 32” optimal or would something slightly shorter be better for spinning? Curious. I have just 32” blades right now but have considered something shorter. venturous uses something shorter in many of his training videos." since I use 2 sabers with a quick connect, as well as close body work, I wint with initiate blades since I am a shorter human(5'7"), and the staff when connected with the 2 heavy initiate blades is just over 5 ft.. On my flow wand setup I also used an initiate blade, because the longer that is, the easier it is to hit myself When the young one is down for his nap this afternoon I shall see if I can shoot a short video of demonstrations of the things I talked about, as well as things that helped open up more options for me when moving with the saber/s

To finlayfox: Hi, I only have two hilts. Same as Venturous use in his tutorials. Initiate v3 and a hilt from a other company very similar in lenght and weight. The Initiate v3 is not super pretty imo but it's very comfortable. Darth Cephalus did a review on his channel. I'm also around 5'7" and cutted my blade to 28". 32" are too long for me cause I hit the ground and with 24" my moves tend to get sloppy and it looks more like a stick on me I think you should just experiment and find out what works best for you. It all depends on your height, the weight and lenght of your hilt and what you want to do with it. Small changes such as swapping the pommel can also be helpfull to optimze your saber. Greets To S2mikey: Thanks again! The FX are fun but I'm still suffering through my lack of knowledge, haha

I use a variety of sabers and props. I change it based on what I'm trying to do. The sentinel v4 and aeon v4 are two of my fav to use with a full size blade (36 inch). I usually use heavy 30 inch blades for staff and dual wielding on my Menaces.

I was in here years back, but stopped regard my alerts when YouTube wasn't working. Saw your handle pop up, and decided to take a look.

These are VE2 initiates, which I then got the quick connects for the weight differences, staff properties, and general coolness of the effect of splitting a staff during a spin/stage combat scenario. I also have added a silicone wrap for better adhesion to the skin for adding contact moves in when it is in staff formation.

OK - This is a practice session so go easy on me. There are a few good moves but some not so much. Be nice. Needs work for sure but want to thank Cephalus, Venturous, Matt, and various others for some inspiration & lessons. Like I said, lots of work needed here but Im slowly coming along.
