I don't like foil fencing on a side note. I rather fight saber or epee. I rather poke other things besides the chest.

But Idk if a mid a good idea for my husband though.

@Eiyame:  I am coming late on this discussion but if you have a husband that is brutal strength, then go with the heavy grade blade.  I love my one mid grade blade but I use a great deal of force and I see the film inside crinkle with every swing that I take.  I have a War Glaive and Overlord as well as some PVC's that I build myself in Heavy Grade.  I don't see the wrinkles and it feels more solid to me.  On a side note:  I have 5 inch across palms and wear a size 13 ring.  Anytime a technique in my class is required to demonstrate on the big guy, my master immediately grabs me for more punishment.

I say, get the Heavy Grade Blade.  I don't think you will ever be sorry that you did.  They also look good with the colors as well.  I just did a review of my Overlord in the video section with Guardian Blue, Sunrider's Destiny, and Blazing Red all in Heavy Grade near the end of the video.  Check it out to see how it looks.

Normal mid grade or heavy grade. It is the general consensus (and my opinion) that all orange/red colors are best in mid. Of course some hold the opposite to be true, but not many.

ARGH.

I should have read this before I ordered my FO Phantasm Initiate.

Anyone wanna swap some 32" UE blades for some regular ones?

FO in UltraEdge is not bad by any means, it just happens to look slightly better in mid grade. You shouldn't have much to worry about.

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm planning to order a Bellicose with an Arctic Blue blade and was wondering which blade type people recommend? It'll be for display purposes only so doesn't need to be a Heavy Grade blade, so I was thinking of going with an Ultraedge blade for the fuller blade look.

I have ultraedge blades for my Consular Green and it's ridiculously bright in the mid (not so bad in heavy either, but it is dimmer than the mid). From everything I've seen/read about, the ultraedge blades look the best on camera/video, and the normal blades look best in person. I would ask someone to verify this statement as I don't have my mid grade blade to compare it to the ultraedge blade yet.

Yeah, pretty much this. UE tends to look better on cameras, but Midgrades are better in person. Most of the people I've shown my saber to agree with this.

Thanks for the advice all, what about the 'fullness' to the blade that the Ultraedge provides to Arctic blue? Looking at photos and reading other posts it seems the differences are quite minor and for Arctic blue all blades look amazing, just want my saber to look as amazing as possible  Grin
