Hey gals and guys, I made a quick locator map for people looking for fellow saber folks for LED fun...I am not sure if it is 100% adjustable, viewable, etc.

So take a look and let me know.

I would highly recommend that if you add your data for a pin that you do not give your exact address...like for Ultrasabers I just dropped the pin in the center of the city, even though it is a business I think the address I had was for a home and that would not be cool...so if you enter it I would think a pin in the city or section if a huge city would be all that is needed to get the point across.

That is a huge list, maybe...it  is Ultra's site and forum...I would be hesitant to advertise anything, even a related club without his prior knowledge...but should not an issue.

This list was really meant for Ultrasaber fans to find each other.

Sounds a bit more elitist than I would intend, but still...it is a business and I appreciate the forum existing as is, so let me contact Ultra or at least the mods first.

Eh, any club on that list I've ever connected with (at least six if not more) recommended Ultrasabers as the least expensive way to get into the hobby.

Still, you guys do what you do - since the new locator map is unofficial (for now) it's ultimately up to you.

At least put me down for Lancaster PA so I don't have to register :)

FWIW another Star Wars site I know uses vbgooglemap, as does TCSS - but those are both VB forums, not SMF. A forum plugin would be the best because then forum users would never have to leave... - but if the admin's not interested, then I think the one you found should be okay.

I included many from the other clubs list, but I went through each to check ease of access as well as if they had current data and traffic.

Some were not fighter/sparring/choreographic/etc. but were sales points for other brands so I left those off of course  :)

Lol there are so many people just an hour or so away from me.... Who wants to do a Saber camp in Big Bear next year?

I made a few slight shifts...keep in mind that those in the same city, I spread them out a bit to keep them from stacking...it does not show exact locations, just close enough to consider for sparring...follow up with PMs  :D

I am located near Annapolis MD if there are any fellow MD'ers. I've yet to really find a saberclub. MD Jidai are seldom active, near dead infact. And the Defenders of the Force are simply 501st or Rebel Legion.

I know, makes me sad. They were awesome. Hopefully they pick back up again. Getting a stable location became an issue from what I heard.



Well, they're 501st / Rebel Legion members that want to do saber choreography, so splitting off into their own club was the way they found to do that. And according to their Facebook page (you have to go back a ways) they get together to practice and train for their choreo. Regular 501st / Rebel Legion members don't do that. ... I think. >.> (In fact, my understanding is Rebel Legion has not done lightsaber fights in quite some time, though that may be changing.)

I thought their Bowie Baysox performance for 2012 (up on YouTube: http://bit.ly/TQQZHT (http://bit.ly/TQQZHT) ) had some very nice fights.

Of course, I come from the choreo side of things and realize I'm somewhat in the minority here when it comes to appreciating that and appreciating those that do.

Pretty far drive from PA! But yeah I saw a video of the baseball games theyve done. They are pretty cool. But I wouldn't be welcomed because I don't have a StarWars costume that meets standards of the Rebel Legion/501st. My only costume is merely based/inspired by Starkiller and for the most part, my own creation. MD Jidai seemed more of my thing, straight up saber dueling.

I.... ? Oh, "I come from the choreo side of things" - I meant figuratively, as opposed to many here at Saberforum who come from the sparring side of things :D

Y'know, looking at this map, there's a big ol' cluster of us with the center being around... Paducah KY.  I think if we were going to plan a big get-together, it'd be around the Kentucky/Nashville areas.

Looks like four prime locations...keep in mind these are sparring partner locations and not general membership...I would be happy add all the members.

my group is part of the rebel legion in wisconsin, we train regular and have been putting on shows for the last 4 years and continue to do so, not sure about any other states in the RL do it or the 501st.  we have made alot of money for charity by doing these shows as part of the rebel legion

I did manage to get involved with a saber-group in Anaheim which I attend every Wednesday I can, but having a one-on-one partner would be really cool.

Anaheim, that must be the Saber Guild, with Robert and Michelle... That entire group is awesome!

Actually it's this other group called Saber-Alliance I found on meetup.

They're a pretty cool group and I believe they may have been an off-shoot of Saber Guild at one point.

Regardless, I chose Saber-Alliance over Saber Guild primarily because they are just a tad closer in proximity and driving distance than Saber Guild seems to be.
I can't wait till midterms are finished when I can spar with them once more.

My guess was that it's Anaheim-area people who want to spar, because AFAIK Saber Guild wants to do costumed choreography (there's that old separation in purpose again) but if they're truly an off-shoot, that's interesting. There are people there I promise...there are a couple clubs but they advertise other sabers so we can not link them here.  PM Stiletto, he has a huge list with many alternate people and clubs that I did not add for reasons of inactivity here or as noted supporting other sabers...but I would love for you to find someone to duel with  :)

Well, what you mean to say is there was only one censorship from my list compared to your map, the club in Germany - which is important info to the German who posted earlier in this thread.

Honestly, last I checked, Relmeob, you listed every club I had discovered with very few exceptions. (Aside from the German club, you didn't list all the Ludosport locations and none of the closed groups on Facebook). But it's important for people to check both my thread and your map.

every time i see the little blue "new" symbol i instantly check my area, and i find no one new. the closest member is about three and a half hours away, there has to be more New Yorkers out there. I NEED SOMEONE TO DUEL WITH!!! everynight i go to bed and hear my sabers crying in my mancave across the hall from my bedroom :'(

Are we talking about insane traffic 3.5 hrs because it looks like to me that not only do you have people within once a month range, within reason, you have a couple masters and veteran saberists within that range as well as other forum members.

no , its not the traffic. its just the inconvenience of driving nearly four hours just to spar with someone for a few hours. there was someone here on the forum a while back that said they were from my area of the state. i asked where they were from but i got no reply. i would prefer a once a week meeting rather than once a month. maybe in the near future i may contact someone and possibly meet up.

I feel ya...the closest to me is 3 hrs to 4 hrs one way.

Thank you for the welcome. Hopefully I'll be able to get involved as soon as I purchase my saber. I'm working to buy an Initiate V3 with Sound that I will eventually add some asthetic modifications to over time. Also, I need to throw together a decent Sith outfit at some point. I noticed that there are a couple of other people in my state as well, so perhaps I will run into them sometime.

Stay involved with the forum regardless of having a saber yet or not!

Ask questions, play along with the silly stories, and make a nuisance of yourself...we all do lol.

It doesn't take me long to get aquainted with forums. I tend to lurk on ones I would be less active on, but I've been meaning to join a community like this for a while.

Well, a lot of it comes from the whole choreo/combat thing. They focus a lot more on choreo. To be honest, so do I. I'm more around for instruction and comaraderie. And also intelligent conversation, it gets a bit too snarky here

Oh yes I could see that. I was stationed and went to school on Governor's Island for a number of months at a time over 15yrs...snarky is about the correct word I would use for a general stereotypical NewYork attitude :)

Though by no means do I think that applies to all NewYorkers.

Don't think I'm in any way insulted by being called snarky. I say six snarky things in the morning. Keeps my teeth white.

I just sometimes like to have a conversation with someone not thinking of an automatic comeback :p

I actually had really good luck while in New York with people...not the mundane masses of those running from place to place, but the specific...a few martial artists, a few chefs, and a few fellow comicbook fans  :)

And believe me, there are snarky people everywhere...but there more more per capita in New York  :D

I'm a little sad that only one other guy is in ottawa but at least it's someone :D

I'm in Kingman, Arizona basically.  I live out in the boonies, but that's the closest town.  A drive to Vegas is shorter than Phoenix.  I'm about 45 minutes from either Lake Havasu or Bullhead/Laughlin. 

I'm definitely down for meeting some other people within a 3 hour drive of me for some lightsaber shenanigans.  I have over 20 years of swordsmanship experience, and I'm hoping to get others (mainly in the Bullhead/Laughlin area) to start going nutso on lightsabers as well.  We're all in the Adrian Empire together, there I portray a Knights Templar.

But yeah, feel free to post me up and I'm looking forward to meeting those close enough by! :D

That club is called "Jedi Saber Combat" now, and is probably not training in VA, although they may have a member there. Most likely closer to Odenton, MD. I'll try to get more details.

There should be a Virginia branch of Saber Guild starting up next year.

Those that are in my country are more of choreography groups that trains just for performances (Members who join them must wear authentic SW costumes in order to join, not like TPLA in U.S or Ludosport in Italy and such  :( ) or just the regular 501st Legion.

Hello from the Philippines. For the last year or so the Lightsaber Community in Metro Manila, Philippines has been growing. At our last meet up of the PLG - Philippine Lightsaber Guild this January 220+ attendees showed up.

We started a PLG - Saber Combat group up at https://www.facebook.com/groups/442829582594156/?fref=ts since a good portion of us already have backgrounds in weapons based martial arts with several instructors of systems, we have started our focus on developing a dueling ruleset. We just had our first test Jan 30, 2016.

We limited targets to hands to elbows, Upper Thighs and Lightsaber hilts and are currently testing out padded lightsabers. Here are some videos to check out

While they spare all the time, this is their first time sparing while keeping both hands on the hilts. We thought this might be a better way to start new folks to lightsaber sparing. Especially since two hands would force them to move more like Shi Cho :)

For our second test, we are thinking of doing all participants with now martial arts or cosplay experieince. Also a test using just Duel Ready lightsaber like Ultrasabers and other brands.

can't be bothered going through the entire 43 pages here to see if anyone else is in the same area as me, but...

Put down Brisbane, Australia as another location :P Within a month I plan to buy my first saber, and then a couple of months after that also buy my younger sister her own lightsaber :D If you're in Brisbane and wanting to do some saber dueling and to possibly play some Call of duty or Halo in between duels (while we recover XD) on xbox one, feel free to PM me here or on social media; I'm on skype with the username twylite.fang, and on facebook under Twylite Fang.

**NOTE** If you wanna duel with my sister as well as with me, make sure you have a Heavy Grade blade for your lightsaber; Des really gets into the spirit of things; our plastic, electronic lightsabers, (my Luke's green saber, well one of them at least, got its blade literally weakened to the point where a light connection caused it to break off and one of her two Mace Windu electronic sabers has a bent blade, and my darth maul and obiwan flick to extend blade sabers all have bent blades from the amount of times we dueled. So basically if you duel her, be prepared for a TRUE duel, not just light connections.

**NOTE** Also if you message me on skype or facebook, make sure to mention that you found me via the ultrasabers forums, or I'll ask who the heck you are XD

I'd like Light Side points; I consider myself as being on the Light Side of the Force though I'm willing to dip into the power of my emotions to fuel me, though it doesn't push me into the Dark, because I use my emotions to keep myself going, providing more endurance and stamina to myself rather than using it to increase my strength in combat.

Hmmm...still sounds a bit like a Sith tactic, but have a LS point regardless.

And unfortunately I'm about as far from Brisbane as a person can get, and still be on the planet. :P

Lol yes, I do use emotions to help me, but not to the extent that the Sith do/did. While the sith use quote-unquote dark emotions such as anger, hatred and jealousy to increase the power of their own attacks, I use mainly the emotion of love cos it's the strongest emotion I have in general and focus it inwards, increasing my endurance, and sometimes to a barely perceptible degree, even my speed and defensive strength. Hence the reason I consider myself to be aligned with the Light.

In two weeks, Sunday the 24th, is the second NYC Saber Legion charter meet up.

For those unaware, we're essentially an extension of an international dueling group that just had its first tournament in Missouri.
All skill levels are welcome. Most of us have either have little to no sword experience or barely a month of classes under our belts.

We are currently doing light dueling.

So as far as requirements you need some kind of basic eye protection (cheap impact glasses for like $5 from home depot are what we're currently using). Some padded gloves of some kind and preferably groin protection. Spare gear is available, not groin protection obviously lol.

Great idea with the map. San Antonio needs an update though. The SA Lightsaber Academy is no longer active. Last known activity was back in 2012. There is a Jedi Council of Texas FB page though.

Just came across this... There's a few of us in the KC Metro area.  I know there's a Saber Combat League or something like that based in Lenexa, KS that also meets in Liberty, MO from time to time (Lenexa, KS is definitely closer to you)

I'm up here in Independence, MO and have a few friends with Sabers too.

Is there any saber combat clubs in the gulf coast area,  particularly in the Alabama / Florida panhandle area?

saber legion does saber combat. Jedi Council of Fl. does staged saber combat.

So, I can get the map to load, but I couldn't put a pin for my location.  I'm between Madison and Milwaukee in a small town called Dousman.  Biggest thing we've got is the State Frog Jumping Competition.  IT is just as redneck as it sounds...  Hoping to meet up with some like minded individuals and knock the cob webs off of my technique.  I worked for Universal Studios back in the late 90's until 9/11 :-[ and have a few years of weapon combat experience (staged and practical).  But, now 2 kids and 80 lbs later, I'm hoping to get back into it.  Gotta work off the cheese and beer somehow, right?

Looking for someone to spar with in Newport News va. Also I am interested in a place where I can learn the seven forms of lightsaber combat.

Hoping someone will read this and be in my area. Only person I have to spar with is my 7 year old, we have fun but there's no skill involved.
I just got my first saber so I'm still green but would love a sparring partner and group.

there are no saber clubs in my area  so i'm trying to get some of my students into lightsaber so far one student has a saber ordered
