you can't even beat the story being just 15. It honestly isn't worth the freeness if you only can play up to level 15.

The free play up to level 15 is the current state of the game. The free play until level 50 is what they are headed towards. The question is, what will the restrictions be? There would have to be some, otherwise nobody would ever pay.
In other games that went free to play, there were some zones you could not get to, powers not available, perks that were absent unless you bought them, or went subscription. I imagine it will be some variation of that routine.

This is exactly what DC Universe did. After a while of being out it was free to level 15, then 50 (I actually think DCU went lv. 40 but you get the point). And then after a year of free to 50 the game itself went free but you have limits like only 2 characters at a time, and a couple other small things that don't effect gameplay too much. But after the game went free the amount of DLC items and expansions sky rocketed. I'm hoping SWTOR continues to follow this pattern. They can make more money in the long run making the game free then focus on DLC. |

I am still keeping my sub active, as raiding is the core of what I do in MMOs and free players have no access to operations. Plus there's some other possible restrictions like number of active characters and access to certain races being locked, but those have not been confirmed yet. I'm really waiting for paid transfers so I can move my Republic toons to the same server as my Empire toons to get my legacy combined again (I had a lvl25 legacy on my original server before re-rolling Republic toons on a more populated server.
