Post by: thegirlwithagreatsmile on March 25, 2022, 06:29:30 PM
hi! im new here, a hobby cosplayer, and ready to make a couple more SW cosplays. im looking for ideas how to re-make Kouru's umbrella saber from SW Visions. i made this with reflective tape and only lights up with a camera flash. i welcome suggestions for the upcoming celebrations! https://www.instagram.com/p/CWwEmtIhuZI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link (https://www.instagram.com/p/CWwEmtIhuZI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link) ;D (https://www.instagram.com/p/CWwEmtIhuZI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link)

Hello thegirlwithagreatsmile and welcome to the forum!

You will find a few other like minded cosplaying/costuming members here such as mrg149 and Janx who I am sure would have ideas and chat to exchange with you. I just took a peek at your "hobby cosplay" and WOW, it makes my humble Jedi outfit seem inadequate! But then I am just a beginner at putting costumes together.

I hope you enjoy your time on the forum.

Hello and welcome to the forums
That's a good picture of your costume and an cool looking umbrella saber you have there. Do you have an Ultra saber yet?

Hi!
and damn that's a great idea and works well on the picture.
IIRC, it looks like there are a saber on each of the fins. I fear it would be way too heavy for a structure to do that. Especially with sturdy sabers like US. Even with V2s I'm afraid.
But, maybe just the electronics, in homemade black hilts? I do not know if the heat provided by the saber electronics though.
And combat blades are heavy too...

The easiest way is to use your existing setup, but add El Wire...

The hard way is to build a new one. You could use a single ultrasaber for the handle. Buy a blade plug and drill small holes in the top of it. Then run fiber optic cable through the holes in the blade plug.  I used this same method to make myself a whip. The leds ultrasabers use are very bright and the 7 foot whip turned out great. The shorter distance for an umbrella should work even better.
