Hi.  Another solid idea... however there is no way that anyone else is going to use the Avatar that DarthScrub made just for yours truly lol.  ;)

I don't blame you, it's an awesome pic!  One of my favorite images of Mara Jade, personally.  On that note, if there are any avatars that people wish to keep exclusively, please feel free to PM me and I'll remove them from the list here.

This sounds very silly..but I cannot figure out how to edit my profile to add an avatar :) Reflects badly on me considering I am a moderator on another forum and help people with this stuff all the time  ;D

Neat! How do I go about using any of these cool avatars for my profile?

Right click on the photo you want, and hit "view photo."  The URL of the photo is what you'll use to plug into your profile when you edit.

Oh I just noticed this thread existed lol If I had known, I would have started making general avatars! ;D Maybe a project for tomorrow

I don't have any issue, but I'm not sure a gif will work in the avatar field.  I'll get some made of Yoda, just in case!

What are you looking to edit?  Posts cannot be edited after a certain amount of time.

This is going to sound like a bit of a stupid question but how do i add the avatar?

Whichever one you want, right click on it and hit "view image."  Copy the hyperlink, and then go to your profile and hit "Forum Profile Information."  You'll be able to input the hyperlink there, to change your Avatar.

Qui Gon Gin image  and how to install

Jeez, how did I forget Qui-Gon?!  Updated the original post with some avatars of him.  You right click on the avatar you want and hit "view image", then copy the hyperlink.  Then you go to your profile, click on "Forum Profile Information" on the left, and enter the hyperlink into the box that says "I have my own pic."  Just hit save on the bottom, and you're good to go!

First 2 are Mara Jade non-canon (LEGENDS) character atm. She was once the Emperor's Hand but was turned to the light by Luke. The 3rd is Bastila Shan. From the game Knights of the Old Republic. There's wiki pages for both characters that goes into great depth.

Find the actual image you want (not a thumbnail) on the web, then follow the instructions below.

I guess that makes sense, as to why all the original links just say "this picture is no longer available". Sure, it would be very cool to have something custom of course. BUT what I really want is a customized signature/banner similar to any of the types I've seen. It doesn't have to be animated, or super detailed. I like the ones that look like they are from a video game. Similar in style to Snowwinterie from previous page or TheDutchman. ThreadJack has one a lil more custom than I'm even needing, looks like it took effort? Or DarthScrub, I could work with one like that. Really, something close to the first 2, that I can chose some colors on and insert my name works perfect.

Never mind, figured that part out. So, I'm set up with a custom signature now! Back to figuring out a custom avatar, unless people have guidance on creating/editing one without crazy software requirements?

Sadly, when I tried to use the image it won't display properly. I thought it was the size ratio, and tried to adjust it accordingly but apparently failed. I'm still messing around with it but so far without success.

You're welcome. You should be able to save a copy to Imgur (or whichever file sharing platform you prefer) and then link to it. I have done a few signature banners and avatars in the past for other fellow members including Darth Logos and TheDutchman whom you mentioned earlier - it helps keep my photo editing skills sharp  8)

Epic, much appreciated. Plus it was worth extra entertainment value seeing you with it temporarily on your profile as well. That moment plus aiding in Sith propaganda leaves you in danger of falling to the Dark Side. Seriously though, that would have taken me who knows how long to accomplish. I'll have to remember to check back here over several days and reward such herculean efforts with an equal amount of Light Side points... (gosh, even saying that hurt a little, feelin kinda dirty being so thankful/gracious) Now I need to go meditate with some dark music before the sun rises. I was trying to add a picture and followed the steps. I see the picture pop up but when I hit change at the bottom it goes away. I am not certain what I am doing wrong.
