My friend recently bought a dark initiate and when we hit our sabers hard his turns off and says obsidian. It then can be turned back on. He has the new obsidian lite. Does anyone know why?

I recently read on this forum that someone had the exact same problem.

They attributed it to accidentally hitting the power switch when spirited dueling was afoot.

Is the switch illuminated?

Someone else with more knowledge will give you better info though.

I actually figured it out. One of the batteries continues to pop out just a little bit causing the saber to turn off. Is there a good way to keep the batteries held in the pack better?

The battery was going to be my guess, as I've heard it before.

You cold also use Velcro.  I've also heard people say to wrap it in a scrap of a t-shirt or place a thin piece of bubble wrap on either side of the battery pack to keep it from hitting the hilt or rattling too much.

I'm glad you figured it out.

I recently purchased Initiate v4 with lite soundboard and have been having the same problem......i have electrical taped the batteries and it still happens after some heavy dueling. The bubble wrap trick might work, i think ill try it.

I have had this issue with mine aswell.

Here's what I did to resolve it. Bought AAA 1.2V rechargeable batteries. with the velcro tape that comes inside the battery pack, i placed it a bit above the center and made sure it was tight.
small test by clashing the saber repeatedly against my hand seems to reveal the issue was solved.
If it happens again I'll buy a stronger velcro tape to make sure it stays secure inside the saber

I am still having these problems with my apprentice v4 with lite soundboard. My roomate got an aeon v4 with light soundboard and it is the same, keeps turning off. We have used electrical tape and small sheet of bubble wrap and it is still happening. Is this a soundboard issue? My dominix stunt saber never turns off and it is rattling around in the hilt and going through much punishment. Any help would be great!
