The staff would be about 3 feet taller than your friend.

When you first try out a staff, it will take some time to get a groove down. Try to keep the blade length between 28"-32". The shorter blade also makes single bladed combat a lot quicker.

What about blade type? Would heavy grade blades be too heavy at first?

As a competing practitioner with a Bo staff I always start my training with a heavier staff and gradually work my way down the weight scale so as your strength diminishes your weapon gets lighter. The effort needed to continue stays constant but finishing with the light weapon makes it still managable when you use it at full strength.

The heavy grade blade will need a little more of a push when you are spinning it around, especially if they are longer. I think you need to get used to your weapon, no matter what size it is. If it is heavy, then get used to the weight. The one thing you dont want to do is practice with a lighter weapon and lose your focus with a more weighted one. Not saying training with different weapons is bad, just, you need to think about what you are going to be doing exactly. Either way though, a new weapon will take some getting used to. So I think no matter what blade type you get, you will train yourself to tailor to its needs.

I may just go with the mid grade UE's on the saberstaff to keep the cost down. Then it'll be easy to control(I'm getting 32" blades which is pushing it already considering my lack of height), and I doubt I'll be dueling a lot with it so durability shouldn't be an issue. Now if only my tax return would come, I could order the thing...

That sounds like a good choice. Well, you could always get some smaller blades with sabers you order in the future if you want to swap them out. 32 shouldnt be fine, though. Hah, yeah, that is about the same issue I am waiting on too. Well, that and waiting on the War Glaive.

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!! I showed him the posts and showed him how tall it would be and had him spin a stick that was as tall as the saber would be if he got 24" blades and he loved the height so he said he will get the small blades!
Thank you everyone!!!

Aren't we all waiting on tax returns? I have a feeling Ultra's gonna get TONS of orders soon.
