Ok guys I need some help, Im trying to get my first (only) saber.  I want an inexpensive saber that has a detachable blade, is fire orange, and has sound.

After looking through this site and others, my favorite is the Prophecy, but sadly it doesn't come with sound.  Also another issue I have is why does the sound have to be so dang expensive?? lol

Ideas that I had was to buy an FX Lightsaber (Obi Wan), and have Ultra Sabers install the Fire Orange on it.
OR
Just get the Prophecy without sound.

I guess the question to myself is... How much do you really want sound?

And my question to the saber holder... Is the sound worth it?

Why arent any of the quick ship sabers on sale

The problem with the sound is that I dont want to spend over 150 for a saber...  :-\

You could get a non quickship phantasm or phantom for under 150 even if you use heavy blades and the spendier colors. (I'm pretty sure)  Two sabers for the price of one and a half. =)  You can also get different colors for the two blades if you wanted.   Just a thought, I'm impatient and just got the quick ship phantasm and the saber combat tutorial =)  It was around 185 total I think.

I don't know what to tell you then, besides get one without sound.

Yeah, pretty much....and like I've said before, I think it's nice to have at least one saber without sound so you can "play quiet"!  ;D

I used to say something similar friend, but (hate to say it) your gonna have to get over that if you want to stay in this hobby (I have one saber over $500.00, another at over $400.00).  I'm not rich by any means, you just have to learn saving methods that work for you, and wait till you have enough (if it means that much to you  :-\ )

Yes, listen to my Dark Brother! My first saber was over $300 & my Luke V2 project is going to be over $500 probably!

Well.... let me disagree with our local Sith Lords here. Sound can SOMETIMES be added while keeping costs down. Upping your spending budget to, say, 175 would help alot, but still. I'd recommend contacting Ultra, as I know in the past there have been one or two custom installs of Econo Sound into a Proph (doing that myself), and if memory serves you might be able to get away with that for CLOSE to an extra 50. Prophecy is about 99, isn't it? So that means in THEORY you could get this done close to your budget, but you'd need to talk to Ultra to be sure. I'm betting it'd cost you more than 150 total, but you might be surprised how much more affordable it could be than it seems at first. Then of course, if you have a friend whose good with such things, you might buy the Prophecy and have them wire in Econo for you.

(Econosound means you take a 20 dollar Hasbro toy, cut it open, take out the soundboard, and wire it in. General concensus it that this can be done to the Prophecy, but it's a tight fit and usually requires that you buy a new MHS pommel, and a better speaker. Mine's looking to run me about 50 bucks to have my Dad put in for me, but that's just my experience. Good be pricier or cheaper depending on your area's prices for the wire, heat shrink, toy hasbro, etc) Hope that all helps! :)

@ Manroon: You're certainly correct! Just remember that most people's taste in saber design grows. And with that growth, comes the desire for more expensive sabers!  ;) ;D

Well, certainly, this is true Warlock. I simply wished to convey to our new friend here, that his dreams of an affordable saber ARE possible, despite that after getting said saber, his tastes will likely grow more expensive, and his definition of 'affordable' may become somewhat more loose. LOL

LOL! Yes I forgot to say that....as you get more sabers your definition of "not affordable" will definitely change!  ;D

Man you guys need to be salesmen if you arent already  ;D  I think ill just wait till I get more money to my name then get one WITH sound... I wouldn't feel much like a jedi without sound.  Thanks for all the help guys!

personally I hate sound. its cool for about 10 min then it just gets annoying. I am excited for this new board because it looks like I would be able to have it do activation and deactivation sounds only, which would be sick. I may have to get that for my next saber.

Just for a Point of fact for your Obi-wan fx idea, even if you go that route you will be well over $200.  First you have to get it(about $100-120) pay for shipping(what ever that would be) and then pay for the conversion($99).  Not to mention If you want to change the blade($20-35).   I was also toying with the idea of Finally getting one with sound (because of the sale). I don't have a whole lot of Cash either.  If you get the Shock, Fire orange + Obisidian Board (sale price) and don't adjust anything else, you're looking at $200+ shipping. Plus the emitter and pommel  are TCSS MHS compatible so you can always swap them out later if you choose ,it already has the Covertec knob and it is open to any other customizations you would want to do to it(grips, O-rings, Shrouds, ETC).  That looks like the inexpensive but quality route.    Just wanted to put my two cents in.   ;D

I will tell you this Tygor, if you are looking for the most affordable way to stick in this Wonderful Hobby, YOU ARE DEFINITELY IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ;D

I started out in this hobby a couple of years back (about 6 years ago) and about a 1/3 of that time in I joined another forum, similar to this one (but not nearly as warm hearted  :-\....... ) , anyway my point being that Ultra (the Man) , Ultrasabers, and This Community (Our Amazing Home Away From Home Here  ;) ) are the First to Truly Fight For the Saber Little Guy  ;)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I mean this with all sincerity  :), this is something I fought for over the last several years, usually to a deaf audience  :-\......, but I Promise You That Ultra Is Not Deaf  ;)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Far From It In Fact!!!!!!!!!!!

actually with the prophecy being on sale and ultrasabers custom saber operations opening soon, you should be able to a prophecy with sound for a fairly inexpensive price
