Great review and excellent detailed points. Beautiful painting of the grooves as well. Looks like professional anodization. Impressive. In your video, you made mention about strength of the polycarbonate and asking someone to test the strength. Below is a video of a durability test from 4 years ago. The music is loud and distracting but at one point, they show the sabers being run over by a car.
You can find replacement blade retention screws at hardware stores. It is a 8-32 thread 1/4 inch set screw. I have had to replace one. One question: What is the dark background that you used?

Instead of ordering an obsidian equipped saber, you should just get the board for this one, it is a beautiful saber and the rewarding feeling you get from doing your own obsidian install is priceless!
Just got done putting obsidian in my libby v3 and it's great!

It all depends on how comfortable one feels with electronics work. Some people prefer to let more seasoned folks (like the guys at Ultrasabers) do the tinkering, and I don't blame them. I know my way around a soldering iron, but when it comes to working with a $120 soundboard I get rather nervous (one more reason I've never attempted a PC install). It is a good option and I agree, the install is great to do, but I could see if she just wanted to order another one. Besides, two sabers are better than one right? Nice review Eiyame, you did a good job with that hilt (I love the painted grooves with the BH color blade).

Yeah I understand, and I tried not to think about how expensive the board was when wiring it lol..

Thanks, I hate reviews that don't tell me anything. So I tried to cover everything...thus making the video 18 mins long. I love that paint I showed; its great. It works great in grooves and is water based for easy clean up. Though if you going to be painting where your hands sit, you might have to lay a clear coat over the painted areas of your saber because it might chip( I don't know because I have never painted it on the main body of my saber). But that was about 5 hours of very carefully hand painting layers and layers of paint on to get that solid covering of the metal. lol, I honestly didn't think anyone had tested it. Good to know they are as hardy as I thought. But I would NEVER take my lightsaber any where NEAR a pool O.O That's good to know about the retention screws. If your meaning the background that my saber was sitting on I just used a TV stand, a pillowcase, and oh here I'll just show you my video recording set up. So the camera I took the image with would sit on the tripod, pointed down. Though the video comes out upside down its really easy to flip it around in WMM. And I stand instead of sitting so that the mic will pick up my voice and be clear. I hate when people post up videos and either the music overlay is to loud (thus why mine doesn't have any) or you can't hear the person even with out music.

What the problem is, is how to take my stupid switch out and replace it with an AV switch. But I am ordering my next lightsaber hopefully today. -crossesfingers- (has to wait for husband to say okay; mine you this is the same man who just bought himself the Overlord about three days ago) But if I get the job I just interviewed for -crossesfingers again- I will be well enough in pocket that I plan on ordering my libby (who is still unnamed, don't worry in time she will name herself) a obsidian and a shiny AV switch.

I'm pretty cool with wiring things, its not hard and when dealing with such a low voltage as a battery system it doesn't bother me. Now when I start having to work with or around say wiring for a hot tub that's when I get nervous. So an obsidian isn't the problem, and honestly you can't really fry the sound card, not at the low amounts of power your dealing with in wiring. Worked on PCs, doesn't really bother me that I am working on x hundred dollar piece of electronics. Honestly I would like to have a saber collection. Besides why the hell not, my husband has two sabers (ones in the mail) already.

Thanks, I was going to detailed becuase its hard to find detailed ones. 90% of them are "hi, this is my saber, I love it, bye" and that isn't helpful to people looking to buy that saber.

I usually wrap the area around the switch with painter's tape and use a pair of pliers to grip the guarded section and pull the switch out. Most of the latching AV switches press fit into a 9/16" hole. Just need to drill the existing 7/16" hole to match that. Everything else is just soldering the wires into place. Of course if you are going illuminated AV, you'll need one more resistored circuit. Wishing you the best in getting the job. I know how tough searching is lately.

Its a good thing my dad has a drill press, then. Though I might just get a guarded momentary switch instead. And unless they come out with purple for the illuminated AV with sound, I am not getting one. I'll stick with the non illuminated. Its GameStop, I can give there selling speech by heart and backwards to boot. And still have time to go over any game they liked to know about. lol But thanks all the same I'll know by the end of the week.

Great review! Definitely worth a point. The BH color didn't show up very well (just looks red to me), but that's not uncommon on video. They're just too stinkin bright for the camera to pick it up properly.
I was going to post the torture test video as well. That's one reason I chose US in the first place. I like things that take a beating and still function. It's why my first gun was a Glock. lol.
Speaking of, has anyone tried firearm grip tape (a.k.a. skateboard tape) as a wrap? It's really grippy, and performs under stress and sweat great for professional competition shooters, so I'd think it would work for a saber pretty well also.

Yes sadly the red tones in Bane's Heart over whelms the camera.
