Title: Help with my Obsidian soundboard and Obsidian launcher
Post by: Trigar7 on January 02, 2012, 07:06:54 PM
Hi.

I am not sure how to tell if I have the obsidian xt soundboard but I have a guardian with flash on clash and 2 batteries, no dummy cell. When I load up the launcher, 64 is not showing at the top.

The usb port is attached to the board.

How do I tell if I have the xt soundboard?

And how do I fix the issue of 64 not showing up if I do have an xt soundboard/

Thanks

If you have Flash on Clash, you have Obsidian XT. They come hand in hand.

Are u sure you have FoC? if you really do, what your flash color?

Reason why I ask is from your description and pics it looks like you have the old board and not the XT

XT board would be using a single Li-ion Battery with a dummy cell and the board would have a break out part for the USB port.

Anyways I would just shoot Deep an e-mail at [email protected] and he should be able to help you out. =D

Yes I have flash on clash. Main color is PO, flash is orange.

Sounds like the newest version of the XT board, with the port on the board itself and run on 2 Li-ion cells.  Not to mention FoC requires the XT, as ThreadJack mentioned.

Excellent, so it seems like I have the xt then.

I guess I will have to wait for a response from [email protected] on how to fix it.

Thanks.

Interesting, very interesting.

Well in that case then yeah  just shoot Deep an E-mail and see what he said.

Keep us updated. :)

So the word from Deep is that I do not have the xt board.

Yet, I do have FoC, so I guess there is some confusion out there as to which boards support what.

I asked if there was a sure fire way of telling them apart.

Waiting for the answer.

Thanks for the update.

And yeah I am pretty much confused at this point. Strange thing though one of my other friends also has a guardian with FOC and he said he running on two Li-ion batteries as well.

Keep us posted. Or at least me anyways. =D

@Trigar7:

I too have a Guardian with the same setup as yours. Not sure why we didn't get the XT's. How's your battery life? I have to constantly recharge.  The saber drains the batteries dead in the off state within a few hours. Deep told me that sleep mode is not supported any more so battery life is now much shorter.

As for flash on clash, there must be a discrete component or two in addition to the obsidian to pull it off.

All the Obsidian boards are XT, you need an XT for FoC.   The XT 64 is the board with the remote USB port.  There's nothing broken on your board so there's nothing to fix.

This is not accurate.  Use time is not effected at all.  None whatsoever.  It is the standby time.

We have since added the Deep Sleep mode back to all new Obsidian soundboards.

Hmm.

First things first. I updated my sound and it is great.

Now about the battery life issue. When I got the saber, December 29, the batteries were dead. It took about 5 hours to charge and I played with the saber for a little bit. Maybe 10 minutes total.

When I went to get the saber out the other day, Wednesday I think, the batteries were dead again. More charging and I changed the sound font. This time I took the batteries out. Kind of a pain though.

So how long are batteries supposed to last?

Why am I only getting a few days of shelf life? I have had to charge the batteries twice within a week of receiving the saber.

Thanks,

Garry.

I think what Deep was saying is that the USE time of the saber should be the same - in other words, if you leave the saber on it should last the same amount of time as before.  The only thing that's different on that board is that it doesn't have the "sleep" feature that allows it to conserve battery life when it's off.  Therefore, if you leave the batteries in while the saber is off it will drain them rather quickly until they are dead.

The solution?  Take the batteries out when you're not using it.  You should see a marked difference.

You should take the batteries out when your saber is going to be off for that long anyway.  That's just good practice.

Deep,

Thanks alot, that clarifies everything.
I decided to try running my Guardian for while to test the run time but did'nt get to have it on too long. I may have had it on for about 20min. My wife yelled at me because it was too loud so I went outside. Then she yelled at me again to get inside because she was embarrassed over what the neighbors may think if they see me. So that ended my run time test short.

During that time, blade kept it's brightness very well. I exercised the FoC too. All is good.

I'm contemplating a kill key sometime in the future, but for now I'll take the batteries out when not in use. I should do the same for my Raven.
