So I am just curious but how does everyone say twi'lek? (I have heard two different ways in shows. I will try phoenetically : twee lek and twy lek) Personally I go for the first one.

I naturally gravitated to the first pronunciation (TWEE-LEK), but heard it pronounced "TWI-LEK" (TWY-LEK) often, so figured that was correct.

I still read TWEE-LEK...

I don't mind changing it but I've also heard "Twy-Lek" in the beginning so went with it.

I've also heard it Twih-Lick. I normally do the Twee-Lek though.

Wait.... are they actually Batman's parents?

Also, I've been told I look like her. Not sure I see it, but I don't argue. Cheesy

Aye, they played Thomas and Martha in a flashback in Batman vs Superman.

ˈtwī-lek'

Otherwise using the phonics governing the 'twē' would dictate a 'lāk' sound in the latter half. Twee-lake? <spew>

I'm pretty certain Twi'lek is the species name in their native tongue, that has become popular outside of the species. You can't apply rules from a terrestrial language here.

This is quite possibly true. There was another character species name that caused confusion and that was the Weequays seen in ROTJ. Back in the 80's on the action figure packaging this character was named as "Weequay - Skiff Master", but obviously now we know Weequay is the species' name. One notable Weequay is Hondo Ohnaka.

I most certainly can. The species and all affiliations was created by Terrans, and therefore rules of "terrestrial languages" can and do apply. Wink

Now I was of the mind, before TCW screwed it all up, that Weequay was the species name and was both singular and plural.
