Good, he should be back to direct since it was all of the toxic fans that wanted to out him as a director. If he wasn't successful, no one would of batted an eye.

Winning cures everything. Does anyone else think that Disney looked at the recent toxic fandom campaign against Captain Marvel (that was massively unsuccessful) and thought "Fork it! Let's just get him back as toxic fandom will have no effect on our movies".

That's the thing. Disney is all about trying to keep face with the public regardless of anything that Gunn did to try and reconcile with what he did a decade ago. Look at Ace Ventura, people nowadays are re-watching that movie and getting offended by it....

That's true. But in the case of James Gunn, the exec at Disney that announced the firing did so prematurely and then Disney just kinda had to go with it. And the thing is, they knew all about the tweets and had addressed it years ago. The toxic campaign was retaliation for what happened to Roseanne Barr. Look at Ace Ventura, people nowadays are re-watching that movie and getting offended by it....
Really? Why? They are hundreds of movies from previous decades that were a reflection of attitudes of the time, but when you watch them now you cringe and flinch at some of the dialogue (Blazing Saddles anyone). But getting offended today by a movie that came out decades ago is just silly. We should celebrate how far society has come and how far we have come as a people.

Agreed. People are upset by the dumbest things nowadays and want to see other people go down. It's a shame that this is the world nowadays. There's a scene where Ace sleeps with a trans woman and when he finds out, he takes a shower while crying. People are saying that that scene was trans-phobic http://vt.co/entertainment/film-tv/people-re-watching-ace-ventura-pet-detective-are-getting-seriously-offended/

He never sleep with Einhorn. He just kissed Einhorn. And are they going to complain about the scene in Trainspotting when Begbie makes out with a transvestite and then freaks out about it when he realises it's a man? I think that the "outrage" about things like this is very minor and is a case of some sad, small-minded people desperately looking for attention. So they look for examples of a hot-button topic and try to manufacture outrage where there really is none. Let's turn the conversation back to GotG3 and James Gunn coming back. THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!!

This is good to see and it all needs to end on north side. Barr was mentioned any, Kevin Hart was mentioned in the article, and this week Tucker Carson is being tracked over the coals for something he said in shock radio years ago. It just all needs to stop.

Fair enough. But as I said, let's keep in on topic and stay positive. No need to let toxic fandom affect our joy for the things we love.

"I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months," Gunn wrote in a note that was shared to Twitter. "I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney's decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all."
John Campea talks about this topic and answers questions from viewers. A good watch as any questions you may have is actually brought up by the viewers.

See, the problem is social media saves everything. In the past, you could say something totally out of taste and only the person or people you said it to would know about it. Most people have said something they shouldn't at one point or another, I don't really know any perfect people who always say the right things. But, these reporters with absolutely nothing better to do are going into Twitter archives looking for dirt on these people to try to ruin them. It's vindictive, really. Yes, he said some dumb stuff he shouldn't have. Like I said, most of us have been guilty of it at one point or another. He shouldn't have that held over his head just because someone else had an ax to grind and enough time on their hands to dig the stuff up. I'm glad Disney had the sense to realize that and that he's been nothing but a class act since all this came to light, and reversed the decision.

Was it really a "toxic Fanbase" (By Thunder I am so sick of seeing those words) that called for his termination? Seemed to me it was people who weren't even really fans anyway. All I saw of the fan base, from people on both sides of the political spectrum, was that it was a stupid move.

Whoever is responsible, I call them morons. Yeah, the "toxic fanbase" thing is getting really old. You know these people aren't really fans.
I'm not a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy films. I didn't like the first one and never had a desire to see the second. However, I see no sense in firing someone over some stupid crap they said a really long time ago. I also see no sense in sabotaging something that you're not a fan of just because you don't like it. I have way better things to do, so if I don't like something, I'm just content to ignore it. But, maybe that's just me.
