Title: Weathered Flamberge SE (Pick Heavy)
Post by: Cambo5150 on September 22, 2016, 12:15:52 AM
Well, long story long I wanted to buy a black Flamberge for my son's bday. He's a Kylo nut and has a great costume. As you may know, US black cross-gaurd sabers are on back order for obvious reasons. So, I ordered a Flamberge SE with a plan to have Drahcir work his magic and make it Black and Kyloish. (His work is amazing). But time and budget were running out, so I tried my hand at painting and weathering. (Still plan on sending a saber to Drahcir some day). I'm not a arts and crafts kind of guy. It was a learning process so go easy, but let me know what you think. Started with a shiny new Flamberge SE. First I sanded it, painted on a coat of bronze. Then a coat of black. Then lots of sanding and elbow grease.

Wow, that looks amazing! For someone who's not into arts and crafts, you've done a quality job! Your son must be over the moon (or will be if he hasn't got the sabre yet!)

That look superb. The bronze is a really good addition over just painting it black and sanding it.

Nice job! I weathered my black anodized Flamberge and it came out quite similar to yours. :)

Beautiful hilt, found this while searching google. I actually want to go the opposite direction, removing all the black from my Flamberge LE and polishing it to a mirror finish with some black left over as charred weathering. But man, your job is tempting...how simple it would be for me to weather mine as is...point.
