And so we come to the funny ha-ha laughter round. Who doesn't enjoy a good comedy? Please make sure to read all the rules before posting

Rules of the game:
- You are only allowed to pick 11 movies (that's 10 with a bonus pick)
- Only THREE Honourable mentions are allowed
- Your choices DO NOT have to be in order of favourites
- Comedy stand-up shows that have been filmed are NOT eligible (For example: Raw, Delirious or any Richard Pryor stand-up do not count)
- You can only choose movies that are categorised as a comedy, not a movie that has some funny parts (For Example: Lethal Weapon 4 is a action movie that has comedy in it. It is NOT a comedy movie)

Please remember - That all opinions on movies are subjective. There are no wrong or right answers for the comedy movies you love, so no putting down other peoples picks if they choose something you disagree with.

As previously stated, these are in no particular order. I love them all, for various reasons. The numbers are just there to make sure I limited myself to 11. This is probably the hardest top 11 I've done. So many great movies that I had to leave off my list. Hopefully other people will list the ones I wanted to included but couldn't

My picks:

1- The Ladykillers (1955 - Alec Guiness & Peter Sellers at their comedic best)

2- Team America: World Police (Marionettes having sex, "Matt Damon", F.A.G. What else is there to say but F*CK YEAH!)

3- Ferris Buellers Day Off (Probably the most popular of John Hughes' incredible 80s comedy filmography)

4- Planes, Trains & Automobiles (John Candy at his best. Steve Martin at his best. Nuff said)

5- Animal House (No, the OTHER one, you perverts. John Belushi in a toga. Need I say more?)

6- The Life of Brian (Monty Python doing what Monty Python does best)

7- Airplane (The best spoof movie of all time, before Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer killed the genre forever)

8- The Man with Two Brains (The comedy genius that was Steve Martin)

9- The Hangover (Infinitely rewatchable and hilarious. And who hasn't had a morning-after-the-night-before like that?)

10- This is Spinal Tap (The funniest rocknumentary of all time that goes all the way up to 11)

11- Trading Places (The one two punch of Eddie Murphy & Dan Akroyd. And mix in the beautiful Jamie Lee Curtis)

Honourable mentions:
i- Happy Gilmore (The movie that proves Adam Sandler was once a comedy genius)

ii- BIG (Remember when Tom Hanks was a comedy actor and a bundle of energy on screen?)

iii- Clueless (Jane Austen's Emma in modern day Beverly Hills? Whatever!)

I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but this is, as usual, just off the top of my head.  I thought of some other comedies I like, but none I'd rank as favorites.

I'm listing, and I just counted. Granted, it's been 5 minutes. I'm at 16! No friggin way! Then SFD throws down Spaceballs... Nope! Balled up, thrown away, restart!

I did the same about three times.

Props for mentioning Loaded Weapon 1, a movie I feel doesn't get enough love and it really should.

*edit* Dammit. Just realised I could have put Splash, Back to the Future or The Secret of My Success on my list. Grrr!!

Indeed.  It was a tight list, that was close to being in my top 11.

This was hard, and I'm sure I'll have regrets but F it.

Nice list. I've never understood the love for Napoleon Dynamite. I remember the hipster hype for it when it came out, but when I watched it I didn't think it was the level of comedy genius that many people think it is. But that's just me.

Coming to America - Eddie Murphy in the period when he was at his untouchable best. And I love the fact his parents are the voices of the king and queen in The Lion King (lil bonus fact there for y'all).

(and yes I know their names are James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair and that they're names in The Lion King are Mufasa and Sarabi)

I enjoy just about everything he does.  :)

I also listen to most of the podcasts on his SModcast network.

I never knew.. I mean James Earl Jones, yeah, but Madge Sinclair, I can hear it now!

Curious why you picked Holy Grail over Life of Brian.

Suprisingly as it sounds, I've never seen Life of Brian. It's something I've repeatedly meant to remedy, just never got around to it. Everyone says it's the better one.

They are both brilliant, but Life of Brian is about 12% more a work a genius.

I'll definitely have to pick it up in the near future then.

You will not be disappointed.

Nice list LB. Although I never really understood why so many people like Zoolander. I think I only smiled twice throughout the whole movie.

And seeing Dr Strangelove on your list made me wish I has put Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex (But were afraid to ask) on my list.

It's the quintessential "dumb" comedy, playing with the lowest of brows to achieve jocular transcendence.

Confession time: the only Woody Allen movie I've seen is ANNIE HALL, and I'm super glad you decided to bring another of his up to remind me that I need to give him more attention. :D

Ok, your homework for the next month is to watch at least four Wood Allen movies, including the one I mentioned.

As for Zoolander, "dumb" comedy it may be, but I will never like it. And I usually like Ben Stiller stuff. Ah well. Can't like everything.

Coincidence. I was introduced to that musical made movie long before Saberforum existed. Highly recommend it. I usually hate musicals, but this one only has one real scene where one would ask "are they done singing yet?" Just pay attention to Zero Mostel and you won't be bored.

I must confess, as much as I love movies and as many as I've seen, musicals is the one genre where I have only seen a handful on entries. Got a list of ones to get around to watching. I watched more when I was younger (used to watch them with me mum)
