Since I heard a few members on here talking about STO I decided to start it's own topic for us to discuss it more. What are your thoughts on it?

I joined and downloaded today, took about 45mins all said and done...get through the character creation phase and it fails to save each time.

Any assistance one can offer?

I've yet to do anything with he character creator, or I'd try to help there.

Uh I have no idea honestly. You just click play or something like that and you should start playing as your character.

Very nice Kham I don't really care for that ship style myself, but you managed to pull off actually making me like it.

Hey Teej, hurry up and make Lt 1 already so I can add you. BTW, anyone know how in the blazes you complete the Aid the Planet mission in Delta Volanis? Does it only work if you actually have 10 Medical Supplies? Cause stupid Hova only gave me 1 or 2. I dunno. I beamed down one, apparently, but I have one in my inventory still and I can't figure out how the heck to give it to the poor planet people with the population problem. :P

i  don't know. i haven't done that one.  I did a PvE game, a whole Federation fleet defending a Starbase from a Klingon attack.  That was way cool.  Also did a warzone where a fleet attacked a Borg repairbase.

btw, was that you I was running around with at the Academy earlier?

As for the mission I was on, I still am working on it.... but I completed two other Delta Volanis Exploration missions, and the Shield Delivery Planetary Aid. Scored me some Dilithium Crystals Captain! XD (I'm such a noob)

I stopped doing the academy missions. :D

Ooooh.... pweeetyyyyy..... You know, as far as the newer ships go, the Akira class is one of the best lookers in the fleet. Not as good as the Sovereign, but still nice. Good lines, and very different for a larger ship like that. Personally, I still prefer late 23rd Century design the best. ;)

IDK where to get more missions but then again I've only just hit Lt.5.

I'd really like to play with more people though, so tomorrow i will be playing for a while. ;D

I'm only Lt. 4 (almost 5). Missions sort of just crop up either from Hailing Starfleet, or from talking to people like Admiral Quinn and such.

I will try to get on tomorrow, I want to finish up that mission that started with P'Jem and the Ambassador. I'm right outside the Lackey System, but after taking all evening playing through Delta Volanis Exploration and Aid crap (plus the Academy, as Kev can testify), I didn't have enough in me to go into that portion again tonight. I've only got a little time left on my Skill Points Boost and I wanna try and run through the last part of that mission (I hope) fast enough to use it. But I'm supposed to spend the day with my GF tomorrow too.... so I probably won't get on till evening, and then only if I can steal the wifi adapter from Pops.

My general course at present is planned as follows:

Back to Memory Alpha (my inventory is bustin' with raw materials right now)
Then probably out to the Neutral Zone and K-7

If anyone wants to meet up and run a mission together, or just chill on each other's bridges, just lemme know and we can meet up some time. :)

I agree I really like the Akira class as well especially this refitted version I have. I wasn't too keen on the starter class ships or the Saber class ship I had though. I can't wait till I get my Defiant class starship once I reach the rank of Captain (I'm a lvl 28 Commander right now). And yeah I'm down for chilling on each other ships perhaps Kham and TJ will join us. :)

Oh in case if you guys were curious most Klingon ships can cloak themselves in the game. Just like their show counterparts. :)

I scored 30 of those particles, which gave me a crate of 1000 dilithium.  I played that event earlier and got 15 which gives around 490 dilithium.

 

I'm going on for a little now before I go to work. After that, I probably won't be on until 9ish.

All you have to do is press the print screen key. Your shots should be in a folder marked screenshots in the folder where you saved your game at.

I'm not 100% sure when you're online a box will pop up. You can bring up the friends tab (press O and the click on it), and you might be able to right click the request and choose to accept it.

Well, my Federation character is a Human and my KDF character is a Klingon. :D I had to go human for the Federation, and I like Klingons. :D

Human, because they don't have Nichuan. lol (dont ask).

Also, have to say it was a pleasure fighting alongside the Normandy today, Captain Anteron. Look forward to similar battles in the future, where I will hopefully be more useful and not die as much. XD BTW, I saw you saying some stuff.... how do I make neat little text bubbles like that?

Yes I had fun fighting along side you as well. In fact while it's not a great screenshot. I did manage to take one of the two of us right before we flew into another combat in that nebula. Here it is. :)

As for chatting with other players. All you do is press the enter key. If you look in the bottom left corner unless if you've moved it you should see a chat box. After pressing the enter key it will bring up a cursor and you can type in what you want to say. Then just press enter, and it will display whatever you typed.

Idk if you'll be able to go to this forum topic on the fleet that I'm in, but for anyone either new to this game or new to MMO's follow this link and download the file attached to the topic. It's a beginners guide pdf that will help explain things like chat, space combat, and ground combat for you. History: Little is known about the Nichuan, though it seems that they are a mutant or evolutionary offshoot of the Human Race. At an unknown point in Earth’s history, a peculiar Radioactive particle was introduced to a water source of the Jusenkyo Springs in the remote Bayankala Mountain Range of the Qinghai Province of China. The particles deposited at the bottoms of the various springs, and have contaminated the waters for an unknown length of time. The radiation emitted by the particles causes a mutation in the victim’s DNA, which then becomes genetic and is passed down to all of their descendants. The only presently known mutation to occur from the radiation is the reaction to water and temperature in combination to change gender chromosomes. It is possible that other members of the species exist with different effects from the mutation, though none are known at this time. The only member of the species currently known to exist is Lt. Sidney Saotome of Starfleet. His abilities as a member of the species are not highly classified, but are not well known and he generally prevents anyone other than his closest friends and family from learning of his species. He has failed in this endeavor on occasion. He has never been to Jusenkyo himself, but was born into the species and is fifth generation. Early records of the species are sketchy at best and highly unreliable, due to the poor record keeping of the area and the loss of many records during the Third World War.
Technology: Federation Standard
Society: The members of the species have a history of being ashamed of their unique ability, usually trying to just ‘get by’ and blend in with normal society. One should bear in mind that the species appears to have originated in remote 20th Century China, and shares it’s roots in Japan as well. There is also a tradition among the male members of the species to wear their hair in a pigtail, the roots of the tradition are not known, but it appears to be some sort of a symbol of honor.
Biology: The biology of the nichuan people closely resembles that of normal humans, however the epidermal layer of their skin has a unique property; it’s cellular structure reacts to temperature and large amounts of water in combination, activating a sequence in the species’ DNA. This sequence activation will trigger one of two reactions, depending on the temperature. In the male of the species, Cold water will cause the mutation of the male human’s Y chromosome into a X Chromosome, Hot water will cause the reverse effect. Due to the nature of the property, a second dousing in a row of either water temperature will not have any effect. (I.E. If a male gets hit with cold water and turns female, then is hit with cold water again, there is no effect. If hit with Hot water and returned to male, then hit with hot water again, there will also be no further effect.) During the change, a member of the species is momentarily and partially incapacitated. When a member changes gender, hair and eye color may change as well, as may height, size, strength, and speed. It is theoretically possible that other effects or patterns of effect exist within the species, however none are known to exist presently as there is only 1 known example of the species.
Strengths and Weaknesses: When a member of the species undergoes a gender change, they face the problem of numerous physical differences in the ‘two’ bodies. As a female, the person will have a shorter height and limbs, weaker overall muscle strength, but will gain notably greater speed. As a Male, the person will be taller, slower, larger, and have greater overall muscle strength. It has also been known for certain individuals to experience a change in hair or eye color when changing genders. Physical appearance remains otherwise unchanged. During the gender switch, a member of the species is momentarily unable to fight. This lasts only for a few moments, but nonetheless can prove a great weakness.

Kev, you get a point for that. Though personally, I'm more partial to the Steamrunner Class, the Saber Class is very sweet. And I love the name.

Anteron, that would explain why in the middle of battle the game asked me something to the effect of 'danith is level 30 Captain, would you like to match level with danith?' I think that came up while I was shooting at an escort frigate or something and I read it out the corner of my eye and was like 'whatthe....' lol

Kham... Windows 8? But I only just got 7.... ah nerfdookie. My OS is always outdated.  :P

Father in law works for HP, its only a consumer preview so there are still some bugs. I don't know Yemenite supposed to come out though.

Btw, a quick question... forgive me if this sounds stupid but doesn't the class system seem odd?  Why would someone with an engineering or science specialty captain a ship?  I was under the impression that the command path had specific training for leadership and all... being as it's called "commmand."

I might just be nitpicking though.

Well, you're right. There's a lot with the game that would never be canon for Trek. IE, everyone getting to pick from any uniform of any era with a bazillion styles and color combos, or a Captain of Engineering commanding, say, a Sovereign Class starship is unlikely. Same goes for Science Officers being trained with Medical as well. In canon, there would be a lot more divisions (and you can actually meet officers of those divisions in game, which is funny lol), but that wouldn't work so well for an MMO I think. How many people would want to stand around in Sickbay waiting for Captain and Co to get themselves shot up? not many. How many want to fly a ship and shoot Klingons? everyone. lol

Yeah, that's basically what I figured - it's their way of having "classes" like a true MMO.  Like I said, I was just being anal about it lol

They explain it in the game I believe. Basically the way it works is right now since the Federation is at war with the Klingons they need any and all able bodies to command ships. Doesn't matter what path you've followed they just need more ships out there. Hence the reason why a LT is a Captain of his own vessel. Basically all of your bridge officers are a lower rank than you. At LT they're Ensigns, LT Commander they're LT's, etc etc.

Eh, I'm not too worried about buying ships. There's only a couple I really want to get anyways. I wanna keep my first one, get a Connie Refit, perhaps an original connie if I can't get anything better for my LC ship, and a Sovereign Class. I also MIGHT wanna get a Defiant or Steamrunner class for kicks, and Anteron's Akira does look sweet, but for me there's only 3 on the serious want list. :)

Well, by my count, there's at least six of us in this thread who play, so I guess we just need to work out a time everyone can be on, meet up, form a team, and THEN form a fleet? lol

Assuming that theory is correct, I can arrange to be free at just about any given time on Sundays, and I'm Pacific Time. :)

I'm eastern time and am available most times except after 11 PM or before 11 AM.

I'm on eastern time as well. Saturday's are usually best for me, because every other day I'm either working or have a set gaming day. :)

Saturdays... I can usually be on after 4 PM or so, Pacific, but I always work until at least 3. :(

Sunday's no good for me. I work in the morning, then I'm going to a concert. I don't want to make any promises for the rest of this week either...

YES!! The Bellicose just flew in The Battle of Pi Canis and the Federation blew up a Borg Unimatrix!   Man that felt good.

Aw man, and me stuck at work... lol I've actually been looking forward to responding to a Borg attack, I just want to level up and gear up a little more before I head into one of those frays. Not to mention it would probably benefit me to have a little more practice. XD

i got promoted and chose a Stargazer class cruiser....i'm not a fan.

Personally, I can't think Stargazer without thinking Constellation Class. You know, it was one funky design, but it didn't look half bad. Most hulls couldn't really pull off the Quad Nacelles, but that one sort of worked. I also liked the seldom seen Quad Nacelled Excelsior variant. That looked beastly.  ;D

Why not switch to one of the other models on it? And really that's all you get? :(

Yeah, that's one of the reasons I plan to never discharge my Miranda Class. I know the Escorts have to maneuver better, but still. She's a good ship. :) Plus, I'm sentimental. lol

Lol you better believe I recognize those sets! I was RAISED on DS9, that's my star trek series. :) Funny too, cause 3 successive generations of my family grew up on the 3 first series. Mom had TOS, my older sis had TNG, and I was just in time for the tail end of that and the start of DS9. :)

I figured you would. :D I was raised more on TNG and Voyager than DS9. My dad grew up with TOS, and I think he was the one who got my mom into it. Both of them like TNG the best, and for good reason. My sister never really liked any of them though. When I was a kid I didn't really care too much for DS9 for some reason. But now as an adult I'm going through and watching all the episodes of each series I missed, and DS9 has really grown on me. I really like Garak the most out of the series to be honest.

Next time you're online and I'm on too I'll give you the grand tour of my ship. ;) I think you'll really enjoy walking around a Defiant class ships true interior.

As for Enterprise...I liked it quite a bit...felt he was one of the best captains.

Of course the advantage of coming in after the others, there is a measure of fitting a puzzle piece factor...giving the general Trekies and (uggghh) Trekers what they wanted...a strong personality, not perfect, rough around the edges, a cowboy of sorts.

The show pushed a couple buttons with the bumps of canon but what the heck...the original show is 46yr old...a certain measure of leeway should be allowed due to what we know now compared to then...the show needed to also include non Trek fans, bring them in, and with old school tech and look it would have been an up hill battle IMO.

I am a huge...huge...fan of Andorians.  Enterprise allowed them to flourish so I am standing up for that factor.  The Tellerites got a bump also, welcome because they are an important part of the history that get ignored because...well because they look like most of the Trek fans...not the classic Adonis...more the Pan...short, bit fat, and hairy  :)

Truth be told, when I go back and rewatch the different series I find that the early run of Next Gen to suffer the most...it had an identity crisis, trying to find the groove before the car came off the track...the later portion is much better and the movies did well to further define the series.

I am a stalwart Trekie...I can accept the dramatic change in Klingons, let it go and move along "these are not the Klingons you are looking for"...I can accept the older show having higher grade tech, what choice do you have right? It is what it is...I even (begrudgingly) accept Q, sigh...

The new movie is just another in a long line of respecting the old and twisting the crap out of it.  

I really did not mind.

Infinite universes and all...I am a supporter of the Terran Empire storylines...and I know you like it also (especially you sithy types...spits on floor, sigh...here we go again...)  :)

My only grudge with Enterprise was that it got to the point where if you missed one episode you didn't know what was going on. I understand that its the way of the company to keep you watching the show, but its annoying. Voyager started out that way, but thankfully they stopped doing it.

My only beef with the Klingon issue in Enterprise was that when the DS9 crew goes back in time they made a comment on it. That's why it bugged me. And I wish they would have done the Romulan war in Enterprise that would have been awesome!

Although, I did appreciate the humor, verve, and panache that John de Lancie brought to the role...those shows were fun, but in the end it is due to my incredible ability to suspend disbelief in support of all things Trek.

Q ruled. He could do almost anything, thought he could, but lived (at least up till Voyager) solely for the pleasure of screwing with EVERYONE. And yet somehow, he always ended up helping them at the same time. Case in point? The Borg.

As for Enterprise, it had some great eps and some awesome stuff. I too loved Shran and Co. Also loved learning about Vulcan martial arts, Trip Tucker, Malcolm Reed grew on me, and oh my word did I LOVE the Augment episodes! BRENT SPINER! WOOOOOOOOT! XD I'm sorry, Data was awesome beyond reason. But the real problem with the show was they just should have cut the whole Xindi and Temporal Cold War thing. It literally ate the entire show. You thought it would be just one season or storyline, but no, it was the ENTIRE SERIES. And it got old really, really, really fast. I have to say the Terran Empire stuff and the North Star episode were great though, as were all the eps dealing with J-Class freighters and the Horizon. I loved that they really got into it with the early space travel, but I do wish they'd have left well enough alone on some things. Still, I suppose technically with the Temporal Cold War bit you COULD argue all of Enterprise is actually an alternate timeline, and so it doesn't conflict with all the previously established canon. Man, don't you just adore Temporal Mechanics?

Also, I'm gonna say it again, Trek '09 was the slap in the face Lucas deserved for ROTS. Also the slap the guys who made the three previous trek movies needed. Insurrection was good, but it was a giant episode. Same for Nemesis (could we have not done the mind rape?). I loved the first two TNG movies though. First Contact scared the crap outta me as a kid! It was AWESOME!

I agree with you man. The last two TNG movies weren't that great. Plus i got tired of the Enterprise that(the most advanced ship at the time) constantly being nearly blown to pieces. The JJ Trek was good I really enjoyed it. Mainly because it was something fresh.

Most advanced ship we could make. The time. And there were no particle shields either. It would have gone out better armed, but remember the vulcans held a lot of information back from humanity. Archer had no idea what he wa getting in to.

I'm not talking about that show. I'm talking about in the TNG movies. :D

It's not so much that I play too much. I level quick because I've been playing MMO's for years now. :D Little tip for you guys. As soon as you get your own duty officers (not your bridge crew you'll know what I'm talking about) start doing their missions. I've leveled up more times than I can count because of them. :D

I was planning to do just that, as soon as I unlock them, which I think is level 7 so that should be after the next mission or two for me. ;)

BTW, what do you guys usually do to rack up EC? So far I've just recycled crap I don't need, and have toyed with the thought of making junk at Memory Alpha from all my anomaly radiation and recycling that, since radiation seems so plentiful.

The duty officer missions give you EC as well. Besides questing and selling stuff I don't need to the replicator I haven't done anything else. I don't really plan on working on crafting until I hit max level.

To give you an idea of how quickly you gain ec by doing duty officer missions last night I made a total of 3,625 while I was logged in. They continue to work on them after you log out like in TOR. That's not including the money I made from selling stuff. I made about 10K last night. All in all a good night. :)

Actually I forgot about that rare console I sold that I didn't need for 20K. So I actually made about 30K last night. :D

Much to learn, I still have. lol I'm definitely going to be studying you guys' tactics and all.

You'll get the hang of it its a learning process just like everything else. ;)

Dude... that Prometheus class ship I've got is a beast! It's got forward plasma banks, a forward photon torpedo bank, a dual plasma bank, and dual plasma heavy turrets. And on the rear it has, A rear phaser bank, and two photon torpedo banks. She's got some serious teeth!

Holy crap that sounds like a badass ship.  I can't wait to get to that level!

I recommend getting the Runabout. It has a tractor beam built in, and it's only 32K EC. I know that sounds like a lot, but you should be able to get it pretty quickly once you start doing duty officer missions.

Yeah yeah, enough about the Bieber cut :P  He's a Vulcan, so I figured it fit him (and I'm not a huge fan of the standard Vulcan hairdo).

Did I mention how awesome it was fighting a Borg cube in the very first part of the game?  If that's representative for the rest of the game, then I'm sold!

For finishing the last mission I did I got this Reman Prototype Covariant Shield Array. Not only is it insanely good when it comes to it's shield power, but it gives my ship a really slick new look.

Your first ship varies, mine was that class with the vulcan name, but I altered it as soon as I made Lt. so she's been a Miranda Class ever since. Good name, always liked that one. And yeah, the rest of the game just gets better. Wait till you get to fight the Borg for real! (so awesome)

got my defiant class today.  she has a tetryon array, dual phaser banks, dual heavy tetryon cannons and a proton torpedo launcher for her forward weapons and aft weapons are a phaser array and proton torpedo launcher.

Yeah it sucks but honestly I got to the point where I hated that game. STO isn't perfect, but I don't have to pay a monthly fee to play it.

I dont mind the monthly fee and I love the pvp. Eventually I'll try star trek in sure. Just not any time soon.

Yeah Maroon its a fun space mission. If you've got a good group it will run really smooth. I haven't died once while I was doing them.

I started out with a Miranda class, which are nice, but I retooled it ASAP to a Centaurian(or something like that, I don't remember exactly) just cause it has more of a classic look to it. Almost like a mini Enterprise.

And Teej, it's Centaur Class. ;) As for why it looks like a mini-Enterprise, though there's no way this is what you were thinking of, I can give an explenation. The Centaur Class was made during the Dominion War, to field more ships faster with less effort, by sticking a pair of warp nacelles to an Excelsior Class Saucer Section. Sort of the same relation as the Miranda Class was to the Constitution Refit, asthetically at least. The reason that makes you think mini Enterprise is because of two things. 1) The Excelsior Class model was built to be REALLY detailed because she had to look like the next ship to replace the Constitution line (which Enterprise was a member of at the time). 2) After the decomissioning of the Enterprise A, the Enterprise B was built as an Excelsior Class starship, so she had your saucer section.

That concludes your late 23rd century history lecture. :)

What's funny is if you look at the in game models of both the Centaur and the Excelsior class ships the saucer section is slightly different. :D

Well, theoretically that could be explained by the 25th century refits.... though really, we can all agree the Miranda class wouldn't be in service for 100 years. lol Not with the previous starship development records at any rate. :D

Not really, but for doing some of the high end raid content I've gotten the first part of the Borg Tech for my ship. :D

It also effects your Impulse trail as well turning the left one a greenish color.

Oh and it also allows me to break past the maximum warp barrier. Before I could only get a max speed of warp 10, but now I can get a max speed of warp 20!  :o

What level are you guys at now? Still haven't hit level 50 yet, but I'm less than two levels away. ;D

i'm level 37 or 38 i think, with a Defiant-class ship.  I really want a Sao Paolo class or a dreadnought but it'll take forever to get enough dilithium for the c-points.

Well... good luck. One point takes about 247 crystals, and the majority of the high end ships are at least 1,600 points. You better start doing that daily mining mission if you haven't yet.

One interesting thing to note is the view screen is no longer attached directly to the outer walls. Anyone remember a certain captain ramming his ship into another one, and nearly killed himself when the view screen was ripped right off the wall? :D

I hope you've enjoyed the tour of the new Normandy. I really like this ship! She can't use turrets or cannons anymore, but she makes up for it in having a total of six phaser banks (three in the front and three in the back) and two photon torpedo launchers (one in the front one in the back). The only downside to her is she handles about as well as a school bus, but she makes up for it in being insanely tough to kill. :D

Oh dear god...the honeycomb light effects are great...the shape, she has a big ol' rack and ass...and yes that is a good thing...just frak me sideways through the wormhole!

That is a sexy ship...I have seen some ships...that is a nice ship.

Actually dude don't do that. Your ships dont level up like you do. You'll get faster, stronger and better ships down the line. Really since you're a tactical officer you should choose the escort ships, but if you want to rock a Constitution class cruiser go for it. Just make sure you pick something new. :D

Also too TJ got to see just how fast my ship can go with those borg modifications while having the Quantum Slipstream Drive activated. An insanely fast Warp 30!  :o

LOL Okay then. And I didn't mean I'd ONLY rock the Miranda, just that I won't discharge her. I'll certainly enjoy the bigger punch of my cruiser, or perhaps later down the line an Escort of some type, but I can't see myself letting the first ship go either. :)

Lol we just went over that 3 or 4 paged ago I think. You can start with either the Miranda, Centaur, or *insert vulcan named ship I forgot here*. I got the one with the Vulcan name, but used my free edit to alter it into a Miranda Class because that was my preference. I think Teej started with Miranda and edited his into a Centaur. I don't remember. Either way, they all have the same stats from what I understand, just different hull configurations. I believe I technically kept my vulcan-class roll bar pod. lol

From the looks of it I got the Miranda class I think, but like I said I haven't been on in a while.

I just hit 20 while playing with Kev........then I went to go eat and came back to find that a diagnostics test had started running and crashed the game.

I got my new ship before that though. ;D

I played for like a half hour before I had to go to work, and managed to lvl up in about ten minutes. lol. I FINALLY got a new ship. I'd love to post pics of the USS Madison(It was named that when I got her. I LOVE that name and just couldn't bring myself to change it!), but I don't know where to find my screen caps....

C drive, users, public, star trek online, screenshots. Or something like that anyway. Darn, everyone levels up so fast.... lol

we should post times when each of us can get on to play.  I'm not taking any summer college courses so I can play in the afternoons, usually around 2 P.M. eastern time and at nights between 9 and 11:30 P.M. eastern time.   I can't play later than 11:30 P.M. usually though.

So I did something crazy last night. I was doing some thinking, and as much as I love the Odyssey class there's some things I just didn't like about it. It was mainly because of the fact that she maneuvered like a 12 ton bus, but there were other things. I still have the Normandy E, but she's been put to rest for awhile. Obviously I couldn't just go back to my standard Prometheus class ship so I came up with a better idea. ;)

As much as I'm going to miss the Normandy E this new Normandy fits my fighting style much much better. I feel as if I'm flying around in an F-22 now instead of a 747. :D

To rename your ship press U and then go to the ship tab. In the bottom left corner of the page there should be something that says Rename. Nice new ship btw. :)

Bit of advice for you guys. If you've been doing the duty officer missions that give you extra bridge officers and you have some extras left over sell them. I had about eight extras I didn't need and I sold most of them for 100K on the exchange. I only have about three of them left and those are the ones I have up for less than 100K. ;)

Complete as many raids as possible then. For every one you complete you get 480 dilithium.

Query: How do you / Can you get more than 4 Bridge officer slots? I'd love to be able to commission my fifth officer, but I don't wanna give up my extra science officer. She comes in handy on ground missions with her medical skills. :P

I've always been a fan of the Nebula class. Much much better now. :D

Nebula Class was always nice. I think I saw one of the models once, surprisingly detailed! I love how you can see even in the game that it was kitbashed though. LOL It's like somebody stepped on the Galaxy Class and peeled the Nebula off their shoe.

we really need to try to get five guys on at once so we can make a fleet.  i heard that the next big update will add fleet owned starbases and related quests to upgrade them.  Nove fleet needs a starbase.

I say we all try and get on at around 8pm eastern time (I believe that's 5pm for you west coast people). If we still don't have enough I'll give some random low levels 100K each to get enough people.

i cant tonight at that time, i could do 8:30 or 9 though but I think the weekend might be better for more people.  Of course, you can set it up without me and just send an invite to me afterwards.

Forgot to say on Saturday. :D I don't get off till 11pm tonight. If I could get at least two others on tonight around 11:30pm I wouldn't mind going ahead and doing it. But I don't want to try and get five people on Thursday night. lol

I went to the Tailor the other day, and now I have the Fleet Uniform Slot... but when I access it, it just lets me put together a uniform like normal. Is there some way to access the ones Dan saved as Fleet Uniforms? Or do I have to just copy the appropriate one on my own?

That's right I haven't seen Voyager. Only the movies, TOS, and TNG. I hadn't seen TOS in many years though, so that's why I just decided to watch through everything. lol.

Really? I just selected "Command Uniform"(or whatever) from the drop down menu. Though I'm keeping my original Science Officer uniform outside of fleet ops.

Go to a tailor and go to the part where you edit the uniform. At the top there should be an option to choose which one you want (its its own separate option). It will automatically give you everything for it except the fleet patch and your rank. And all the colors will be set right.

So some good news. We now have two extra fleet bank tabs! :)

I used my own funds to create the second one, and then Kezz helped with the third. If you can try and keep things in their correct tabs if you add anything (they're labeled so you'll know what is what). I decided to promote Kezz up to the same rank as you guys figured he'd earned it. ;D

i'm rocking that uniform too.  I'm collecting a bunch of consoles and putting them in the fleet bank.  they're all rear admiral rank so most of you can't use them for awhile, but when you get that high I hope to have a good stock of equipment for you.

That's awesome about the Fleet Bank too. I have filled my bank and inventory, so what I'll probably start to do is just put anything that's above my rank in the FB along with extra consoles and such that I just... don't use. Likely gonna throw my spare MKII hand weapons in there, if anyone wants em'. lol Or I might just trash em, since they're so darned common. :D

If they're green items or up and you've used them then there bound to you only. Just sell them t your replicator.

Np man. The replicator is probably your best bet.

For those that play the Academy event (the one where you scan particles.)  here's a tip for you that.  When you scan a particle and you isolate it (meaning it doesnt collapse or spawn a Klingon), after you click the "start the collection process" button, pay attention to what it says above the particle because it'll help you to determine what scan to use.  If it says "expanding particle"  then use the multiphasic scan.  If it says "dissipating particle",  use the positronic scan.  getting this right will give you two particle fragments, whereas when it spawns a klingon it only gives one particle fragment.

Just a quick update for you guys. Kev already knows this, but I have begun tribble breeding. Once I get a full set I will begin selling some more. If you don't know what they do they add buffs to your character. A buff is a temporary stat boost. For example the one I sold to Kev gives him +3.3 resistance to all damage for 3,600 seconds (one hour). Other types do other things, but you can only have one buff on at a time. I'm planning on selling most of them for 50EC. If you're interested in one let me know. :)

They only work one at a time? I could have sworn I'd run the Stealth and Health Buff Tribbles simultaneously before.... Ah well, maybe I'm nuts. lol

I might be interested in that one hour damage buff.... what other interesting stuff you got?

Some of them have multiple abilities. For example the Matt tribble gives you a damage bonus and health regen.

Go look in the fleet bank I've got about five or six in there right now. :)

Hmm, we better be careful not to put any consumable items in there then. lol I'll have to check em' out when I get a chance. I've accidentally bred a few of my own. Right now my favorite is a Purple Quality Gamma Quadrant one. Can't remember if I bred it or picked it up. Probably the latter. It grants a stealth buff that's nice. Actually lets me get in firing range without being noticed for a second. Bwahahaha! ;D

They won't breed in the fleet bank so no worries there. You get a gamma tribble by giving any tribble a thing of ketracell white or however you spell it. You'll never find any high level tribbles as loot items.

Manny yep that it would indeed. I've got some gamma tribbles bred if anyone wants one of them. Had fun last night putting a couple of marines in their place last night. One young marine tried hindering a temporal mission conducted by a member of Section 31 (me). So I kneed
 him in the balls and filed a Court Marshall on him for treason. :D

yeah, they post when they're doing stuff like that on their forums.  Some guys in a fleet came by and did trivia and gave out various prizes.  I one 5000 gold pressed latinum for answering a trivia  question.  they gave out other stuff like tribbles, various deployable turrets and even a transwarp coil.

That cool, and you can't complain about some free GPL. Yeah I was bored waiting on Dronza station or however you spell it while I was waiting for my new tribbles to breed. That station is known for people doing rp's, and while I'm not huge into that I decided to join in. Hence the whole Section 31 story. :D

We should do a little RP in STO some time. That would be awesome.

Hail Starfleet and look for missions in progress to turn in, or otherwise check the available missions in the same section. That way you don't have to go warping around everywhere to find em'. Of course, you can usually find Grall by entering Delta Volanis or any of the places like that with annoying exploration missions. XD

Yeah, I never knew that stuff was over there either. I had read online about something called Captain's Table that's supposed to be like a duplicated ESD for premium members only or something, and I saw that second station floating over there and thought I'd fly over and see what there was. Wouldn't let me do anything, no docking option or anything (I'm a FTP member anyways lol), but there were several other ships, and  the cradles. Makes me wanna check out the other side of the system. I wonder if you can go to Mars Colony! XD

there's a mission for the Klingon faction where you get to lead an attack on the Mars shipyards.

Oh, and I forgot to mention guys.... if you can find it, there's a second way to dock at earth space dock. Find the space doors and fly up to them and it will dock you automagically. Unfortunately, it still doesn't actually SHOW you the docking. :P

You know what's odd? This topic is the only thing that reminds me this game actually exists anymore....

Nope, they don't have servers, they have a plane system instead. It's hard to explain, so I'll let someone who's more familiar with how it works/is better at explaining things do it.

Basically, you should friend all of us, then when we're on it will have a location next to our name. Go there, and then above your mini map it will have your location and a number. Click that to change instances, and just select the one with the same number as the friend you wish to pal around with. You MIGHT have to repeat the process when you both move to another sector or planet, but usually if you are in a team it will move you together. :)

Don't feel bad Teej. It's just cause your Wingmate hasn't been around to get you online lately. Hopefully, that will change soon, since the semester is over now. But before I do that I have a top secret something or other I must take care of. lol

I also snagged the M.A.C.O. Impulse engines as well. Not only does it allow me to travel at even faster speeds, but it alters the Warp and Impulse trails....

i want a new ship so bad i cant stand it, but i cant justify spending $20 or however much it i for enough C credits and the dilithium exchange is way over-inflated right now.

Wait.... there's an Armitage Class? AND it's a Carrier? How come I've not heard of this? I want one. And the bridge on there is nice. Big, but it doesn't look like it's overly huge the way the STO bridges I've seen typically are. Sort of an Enterprise E feel. I like it.

i have about 178,000 refined dilithium with around 21,000 waiting to be refined.  At current exhange rates, I'll need around 650,000 dilithium to get 2,000 C points.

So, that means I have 472,000 to go.  If i grind out 8,000 dilthium (max you can refine in one day), it'll take me 59 days.    :(


I'm hoping that once starbases release, the exchange rates will drop because I heard that dilithium may be used in starbases, which would increase demand for it and lower the exchange rates.

That sucks man. :(

Oh Manny the reason that bridge looks like the Enterprise E bridge is because its one of the sovereign class bridges for the game. ;)

yeah, we'll i'll keep grinding for now.  Season 6 (starbases) will release in July, and there will be a Sovereign refit so maybe I'll have enough by then for that.  I love my assault cruiser.

So my main character Danith is now an Envoy for the Federation. As such he was assigned his first First Contact mission. Needless to say the least it was quite awesome. I was assigned to come in first contact with a species that is similar to a virus and ended up taking over the bodies of another race after they had landed on their planet. I successfully managed to help bring them to the Federation.

got us a new recruit for the fleet.  met 'em in the kitomer accord ground STF.  We had only two of our teammates bailed so we had only three people.  took us like half an hour to blow up those freakin power nodes with only two people while the other worked the console.

They are now pre-patching for Season Six, log into the game like you're gonna play then log out.  Don't close the launcher however and it will patch the game.  this will save you time when Season Six actually launches.  Speculation on the forums has it that it will be released in the coming days, possibly Thursday or next week.

Oh yeah! Cannot wait! I took a break from the game for a couple of weeks due to working 12 hour shifts all week. Can't wait to play it some more.

Work has been nuts and I haven't fixed my antivirus yet. This may be motivation to solve that issue. STARBASES FTW!!!!!

I really hope we don't go that route...i saw a guy in an STF yesterday with a rainbow boat (boat with multiple different weapon types; disruptors, phasers, etc.).  It was named U.S.S. Rainbow Dash...I wanted to activate ramming speed so much at that point I can't even tell you.

I don't like ridiculous names.  Or names that people spell wrong.

Out of curiosity, how many of you guys play a Klingon character?  I have one, I don't play him very often but I do enjoy the Klingons, and I'd like to have a fleet there as well.  They get a sweet looking starbase.  Our Federation fleet would be our main fleet and most active but I think a klingon fleet would be fun.

If we have enough, let me know and we can form The House of Ultra!  A house of legendary swordsmen.  ;D

Oooh! I like the Enclave. Good tribute to the RP. And the Starbase 13 was a joke. See, you guys were calling Klingons Klinks. Klink was a character in an old TV comedy, Hogan's Heroes, specifically the Nazi Commandant of POW camp Stalag 13, which he always bragged was impossible to escape from, and that no prisoner had ever escaped.

Thats the reason i liked The Enclave; The Redoubt is a similar nod to Star Wars, along with my ship's name.  The Redoubt is a heavily fortified area of Chiss space.

you cant transwarp to the base, you have to build it first and then build a transwarp gate to do that.  You can get to it from the Eta Eridani sector block.

Made it on for a little while last night. Installed Avast's Free version, looks like it will work well... though I may opt for the pay version soon just to get the firewall. (My Security Essentials is kaput cause my used computer with Windows 7 turned out to be illegit, so it's either beef up security of flip upwards of 100 bucks on replacing my OS. :P )

Anyways, I went and poked around the Starbase for awhile. Just checked out ops, the stores, and the Tactical Section. I like the chair. lol I also like the new update that shows my holstered chaingun strapped to my back. That is righteous! ;D

     Starfleet Command ordered the U.S.S Bellicose - C to spacedock today...to be decommissioned.  She has served well, and performed admirably on many dangerous front-line missions.  The crew and I are saddened to see her go.  Admiral Quinn tells me however, that plans are to turn her into a floating museum, like the sailing warships of the 20th century.

   We won't be in spacedock long however, Starfleet's Corps of Engineers have been hard at work and the first ships of the new Regent Class Assault Cruisers rolled out of the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yard today.  The Bellicose will live on as the Regent Class U.S.S Bellicose, N.C.C 93022 - D.  It is a great honor to captain the newest ship, and the engineer in me yearns to put her through her paces.

    The crew and I stretched the Bellicose's legs in the Sol system.  All equipment and personnel performed splendidly.  My chief engineer tells me that the Regent Class has received several upgrades, including an extensive tactical suite.  The forward Quantum torpedo launcher has been installed on a rotating turret, doubling it's coverage arc to 180 degrees.  It should allow the ship to deliver devastating broadsides.

     Command informs us that work on the neutral zone starbase has faced drastic slowdowns, the Bellicose is to inspect the progress made and render assistance if needed.

Starfleet Corps of Engineers reports logistics problems.  Klingon forces have stepped up activity all along the neutral zone, raiding several supply convoys and resulting in a shortage of materials.  At approximately 1700 hours today, a small Klingon raiding force attacked the starbase.  Several nearby ships dropped out of warp and rendered assistance, with the Bellicose leading the defense.  Fortunately, the raiders were forced to retreat with no casualties reported by our forces, and minimal damage.  I'll need to buy the captains of the assisting vessels a round the next time we are in spacedock.

I wanna see that baby in action. Somebody needs to find a way to mount one of those Quantum launchers on Maggy. lol

Yeah it's a lot of fun, got into a fleet that's noob friendly and I'm getting lots of good info out of them. They have a level 14 star base and are very Organised. Me and a couple guys from work all joined.

And a buddy if mine who is a lifetime sub gave me both mirror universe escort ships to use once it hit 40

Sittin at lvl 26 right now I think.

Hit 40 last night got 3 new ships, each of them slightly kitbashed

first was an assault cruiser which i got as my free ship for hitting level 40, havent done anything to kit it out, just did the layout and paint scheme

then i got both mirror universe escorts left one with the yellow paint standard for mirror universe ships, did the other one up with a purple and black paint scheme

Currently flying the ISS Shadowvar a mirror universe fleet escort set up with 3x tetryon turrets in the back, and 3x tetryon dual heavy cannons and a photon launcher in the front

the mirror universe patrol escort is the ISS Sentinel (Yellow Paint)

and the cruiser named USS Guardian (blue paint)

my level 30 ship was a long range science vessel, cochrane class USS Consular....noticing a theme yet?

 my fed ship is named USS Bellicose. 

I lucked out and got into a really good multinational fleet that has about 230 active members, a level 14 starbase and a level 5 embassy

everyone is great for offering pointers and builds, and everyone helps out a lot

with so many members there are always at least 25 people online

there is a quest you can do that nets you 70 marks each time you do it


Warp to the Tau Dewa sector block, and go to the Japori system, its near Khitomer, just this side of the border to the Neutral Zone.

When in orbit, you should be able to hail a subcommander. Grab the orders, and duck into the Japori system, eliminate the naussicans, warp back to sector space, and then enter again.

You need to do it five times to get the rewards, but its a nice quick way to do it.

Much less impressive, but I hit Commander last night.

Okay so last night, pretty blood productive

I now have the three piece aegis set (engines, shields, and deflector array) i bought the first one on the exchange for about 3.3 million EC, but fleet mates crafted the other two pieces for me.

I also managed to get my Kinetic cutting beam from omega rep, its available at tier 2 omega rep, and is considered the best rear weapon slot weapon in the game, too bad you can only have one.
