Post by: Jediseth on March 11, 2017, 05:47:20 AM
This is a new R2D2 sound font that I created. Let me know how you guys like it and if you would like any changes.  It's got:

8 Clashes
7 Swings
4 lockups
1 R2D2 Boot
1 R2D2 On
1 R2D2 Off
1 Optional Off
1 Hum

Ok I uploaded the R2D2 font to my Lost Gray (as per your recommendation Jediseth :D) and gave it a couple runs and have a few thoughts.

It's a very loud font!  Users may want to turn the master volume down to 70% as a suggestion.

The sounds are very crisp and clear.

The blending between the hum and any swing/clash sounds is tight - way to go Jediseth!

The lock-up sounds are so cool esp the electrical arch that R2 uses so often to save his friends.

Some suggestions - and that's all these are  :)

The hum is a bit droning - layering it with another sound might counter that.  As is, it's a very electrical/mechanical sound which is cool.

I would've expected the swing sounds to be a little more reminiscent of R2's mechanical movements and nuances vs. ones that sound like a result of environmental interactions . . . so some thoughts there.

Thanks for all the hard work Jediseth I've tried and failed a few times to try and accomplish what you have done, and thank you for making it available!

+1  :D

Haven't put it on my saber yet, but I listened to all of the files. Very interesting, I didn't know what to expect from an R2-D2 font, but this was certainly not as bad as I would expect (no offense - I'm just not a fan of R2's noises  ;D ). Very industrial...reminds me of my Steampunk soundfont that I complied a few weeks ago but much cleaner. Love the power on and off, and it's all certainly clean. Where did you get those audio files? Battlefront?

No I haven't looked at any battlefront stuff yet. The R2D2 came from R2D2 and for some of the other sounds I picked up from random things and altered them. One of the sounds was a recording of a car engine with problems. On a font I'm currently working on now I'm using the sound of a washing machine that's unbalanced when it goes thud thud as it goes around in circles.

Yes I guess that would be it. Lots of machine type noices.  I'm also trying to put together a Transformers font.

That sounds like a cool idea. Plenty of material to work with there. I had fun with my old industrial font, now I'm going to work on a "new industrial" font. Electrical generators and such.

@jediseth thanks, I am in the process of building a blue and silver saber and I have been looking for an R2 font, have you worked on this anymore to add any more R2 sounds?
