Hi guys and gals. I wanted to make a new thread to see how many veterans we have on the forum. I am a Navy veteran and I served from 2000 - 2007. I was an avionics technician I-level. I've been stationed in NAS Pensacola a year, NAS Oceana for 2 years, and USS Kittyhawk out of Japan for 4 years.

Marine Corps, served right out of high school from 2002 to 2013, 1st and 4th Marines. I was a paratrooper and served in OIF and OEF. I've hitched a few rides and been on the USS Theodore Roosevelt in San Diego and the USS Ronald Reagan in Japan. I've mainly been around the Pacific Fleet, third and seventh fleets and of course, it's to hitch rides or for deployment elsewhere

And I round out the services with having served in the Air Force, having done intelligence work.

Yes I know, and thank you for the kind reminder! I just would have liked to get some of those sweet bars on my lower sleeve.  You know, the ones they give for five years plus. They look so good as YOU know well!

I do know what you're talking about, mine was bittersweet since our Staff Sergeant was KIA in Iraq and our commander needed someone to lead and ordered me to do so. I got offered Gunny status before I left if I enlist until I hit 15 years active duty which they will retire me at 35% instead of the 50% but I turned them down. I would have gotten out this year and then try to start a family, didn't want to do that but love the Corps until I die

Firefighters and police officers should be included in this thread too! May not be military,  but service is still service in my book.
So thank you, to our brothers and sisters that wear blue instead of green. I could not have done my job, if you weren't doing your job too. We are all a part of the same team after all.

Good point, Kai. First responders are a much smaller brotherhood than veterans, but play a much larger role in our daily lives. It is important that we not forget them. Here's to all who wear the uniforms of service. Afterall, service guarantees citizenship! Would you like to know more?
