I've seen some Rebels, early to mid season 1, and I liked what I saw.
I found S1 to be okay, interesting enough to keep me hooked, but you could definitely tell it was aimed at kids. But that has definitely changed as of S2 onwards. I actually watch the show online as it is only available on Sky in the UK, but its complicated as one of my flatmates has Sky, but it's the sports package and is hooked up in his bedroom.

They did that with Clone Wars too. It was a lot more "kiddy" in the fist season or so, but got really good in S2-S3. I think the idea is to get kids hooked on SW early, but also to appeal to the adults.

Right, sorry, I shouldn't have quoted your entire post.
I was only specifically pointing out the multi-species bit. The whole "multi-species nomadic warrior culture" concept was thrown out. Being "Mandalorian" has been simplified to mean you're a human that hails from Mandalore.
As for wide-spread humanity throughout the galaxy, my understanding is the Human species originated on Coruscant, and then branched out early in SW-verse history, developing into different (still-human) races on different worlds.

To clarify, the Dark Saber was said to be an ancient Saber and taken from the temple by Mandos during the old Republic... But the fact it was MADE by a member of Clan Vizsla, is unique and Tar was the first (and as for now only) Mando Jedi...is all new. I really, really hope they expand on it.

Well with a lot of this seemingly random backstory information from "more than a thousand years ago" they could be setting up something for a future Old Republic style series. Something way back before anyone directly involved in any presently canon Star Wars would even alive. (save maybe some extremely long lived species and creatures....and no I don't mean Yoda...farther back than Yoda).

I've been asking myself what caused the flip.
During the Old Republic, Tar Vizsla becomes the first Mandalorian Jedi and creates the Darksaber.
After the fall of the Old Republic, the Vizslas retake the saber from a Jedi Temple and become a lineage of Jedi killers.
What happened in between? Or maybe there never was a flip - was Tar the black sheep of the line?

Maybe that is why the saber is black instead of a normal Jedi color.

Not so much more on the backstory of the Darksaber, but certainly more on Sabine and lightsabers in general. For a forum related to lightsabers via Ultrasaber, I would suspect that to be fairly interesting to people around these parts.

It was a great episode although, as with all the best episodes, it was over way too quick

I agree. I didn't have much time to watch it though, so I'm glad it finished. I can't wait for part two though.

I liked the explanation that the blades are drawn to each other. It mimics real world sword fighting in that two swords that are sharp will "stick" to each other in a parry or bind.
