Because I'm OLD! Back in the day, you really only had 2 major franchises to geek out over for movies: Star Wars and Star Trek. And only nerds went on the Trek.
I would always have to go with SW because it is the ultimate wedding of Sci-Fi and fantasy. Although Dune did a pretty good job of it, but not as good as SW IMO.
