Vader didn't turn back. He took his shot at his Master, killed him, but killed himself in the process. Bleeding hearts always think he did it for Luke. He wanted Luke to be HIS Sith Apprentice. |

Uh............Vader spent over 2 decades hiding his feelings from the Emperor. This was similarly mimicked in TLJ in the throne room. Of course...... I saw it coming a mile away.   If you knew anything of the Sith, you'd know that one doesn't last long when intent to usurp is loudly broadcast through your feelings. Vader didn't turn back. Back in the day (when I was about 6), the movies just made sense. There was no ridiculous drive to be edgy. Lightsabers and spaceships, edgy enough. The characters were real, and based off the same motivations that we have on Earth. "My dickhead boss is about to kill my son. Continue being a stooge or be a dad?" Vader was already in no shape to fight any more, and clearly the scary old man was not going to be a push over. Having a coup at that time would have been a fruitless suicide. Taking the chance to atone for past sins just makes better sense. Plus.....Luke even sensed the conflict the conflict that Vader was too eager to refute. But this is a discussion for another thread. |
