Hey don't be so HASTY....I knew that fact and in fact the A-10 is the "Thunderbolt II" as there was another plane named Thunderbolt - the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt in WW2.
Another interesting tidbit....US A-10's used to do live firing tests on the beaches near to where I live on the Outer Rim of the UK and I used to go watch them regularly strafing targets and picking up empty shell casings.
I said "Most".
Also, my mother is very jealous. She thinks the A-10 is just the coolest thing in the sky.
Fun aero physics fact! The wingspan of the A-10A is such that you could cut the wingspan in half and you could still achieve stable flight with the same airframe. Though maybe not the same amount of munitions depending on particular payload.

But yeah, the plane was basically designed to be flyable
half blown to hell, in order to get it back to base. (I think)
