It has been a long, long time coming. But they've finally (almost) arrived! Say hello to our latest saber-duo, The Butcher & Savior!

The Butcher and Savior are currently in the final phases of pre-production, and will ship in early October of this year.  Both sabers will be available with Black, Gold, Blue, and Red anodized details, and they look fantastic.

Both sabers will come completely assembled and ready to go. The emitter & pommel on the Savior, and the pommel of the Butcher are removable and compatible with TCSS MHS parts. Both sabers can accommodate all of our standard installs such as the Obsidian Soundboard, Diamond Controller, and the Emerald LED driver.

Made of so much win.  Super stoked US took the time to get a good design on this and not rushing an inferior design out.  A million thumbs up!  Can’t wait for October to get here - I want my Butcher!

I do like the Butcher but I'm on the fence with how it handles and the comfort of it.  Kind of waiting for someone to review it and then make my decision.  Right now, I'm gravitating towards the Savior for my first purchase of the two.

I agree on the comfort of the hilt, but I'll still probably get it before the Savior.

I don't blame you on that decision and kudos to you for being different.

So...for the Savior...I know they are going to sell the emitters separately...at a later time...I wonder if they are going to sell the red and blue Covertec wheels....

Often the colored blue/red emitters and pommels are not sold separately and also the matching covertec wheels.  I don't think that the Dorinian ones are for sale or the colored Menace.  :)

Already pre-ordered the Butcher in VA.

The day the presale launched I picked up both of these sabers. I can't wait for October to get here! I'm looking forward to seeing what the special blade plugs will look like as well.

i want the butcher really bad. i already have it designed. HOWEVER, i think i will have to grab the Spectre first. i really want to get in on this raffle. and i would love to get the Spectre for 10% off. i want it in DVA, but i've seen that already. my other choice would be Guardian Blue. of course, it doesn't matter. i will get it with quick disconnects.

I just read that the body diameter of the Butcher is 1.6 inches.  I hope that number is already factoring in the fins, because man...long story short - I have small hands.  My first saber was a Scorpion, which is 1.5 inches in body diameter, and it's borderline unwieldy.  If that 1.6" doesn't include the fins, then I just bought a $340 wallhanger.  That would suck.  Monumentally. 

Anyone have a clue on those dimensions?

That may not be including the fins, though those also have a taper to them. It's really hard to tell from the video. The body has that inset to it, and the taper to the fins might be just about 1.6" right at the sweet spot.

Guh.  I've been looking at pics of it, and it's supposed to be 13" long, just looking at it's width compared to length really does make it look 1.6" wide without the fins included at all.  That's seriously enormous.

Yeah, just looking at it next to the Savior in the video, it looks a lot fatter. The Savior is likely standard MHS 1.45", or 1.5" in the grip area.

The butcher looks sleek. Those windows on the side? Gah *drool*  :P

@Deep, how does the claw grips feel on the edges, nice and smooth? Wouldn't mind the Butcher either to be honest but I'm liking the Savior more though

Got to handle the Butcher and see the Savior prototypes at FanX Salt Lake today.
The Butcher is going to be a hefty hilt, along the lines of the Electrum Wind in general feel.

Couldn't say if it felt sharp as I had my gloves on at the time.
But it didn't look like they'd feel bad at all

It's to be expected that the Butcher is going to be hefty. But, I personally think the Electrum Wind, while hefty, isn't uncomfortably hefty or thick. Thanks for the comparison with that saber.  :)

It was one I have experience with.
It's definitely not as big as the Guardian

That's good to know, since the Guardian is a big beast.  8)

Isn't the Spectre the same size if not bigger?

According to Ultrasabers' measurement the Spectre is only 0.5" taller than the Butcher, that's including the very tip of the Spectre's semi-circle shroud/emitter part. So I imagine the Butcher to be quite a large saber. The Butcher has a few pointed tips that don't extend too much.  Spectre: 13.5" and Butcher: 13".

That's a good comparison to know. I've actually gotten to handle an EW, so I know what to expect from a Butcher. Interesting.

Hmm, interesting. That means the 'canon' way of holding the Butcher is not at the slimmer lower section but at the upper section (where the AV-switch is located). Well, let's hope my paws are big enough ;D

Hey guys, i have the Spectre and the Guardian. The Spectre is both lighter and a tad smaller then the Guardian. I will post pictures of both, side by side for comparison.

Already having an Emperor's Hand, a Reaper, and a Lost Gray, the Butcher should fit well in my hand

I ordered the Savior to enter the raffle....so...I am thinking my Emerald prize will be a Butcher....

I entered the second Summer Raffle with a Gold Butcher purchase in Guardian Blue, with Violet FOC, and Quick disconnect LED.  It brought me a 4th place win, and I look forward to seeing it in person, whenever they arrive.  I hope it's not too big, as I'm of average height.  But regardless of its size and weight, I look forward to many hours of play (which will no doubt include dropping it on my toes.) with it.

The butcher's such an awesome Sabre. I'm thinking about getting one that's blue with a guardian blue blade, quick disconnects. Actually I'd love to have the butcher with Emerald sound board, but I just don't know if I can swing that.

I'm so glad I got in the raffle with a Butcher on the last few hours of the last day!  It is going to be the blue anodized version in GB with VA FOC and V4 sound, can't wait!; thinking I might have to put a purple or blue dayblade on it, we'll see.

He's not the blue wolf for no reason :P What you should do is kinda sand the tip of the claws back to silver, that'd look slick I think :P Do like an inch or so if that makes sense. I kinda do want another blue anodized saber myself again actually :P

Did you order a Butcher, Zren? Or are you going to order one in the future?

I was lucky enough to get my hands on both of these today at the US booth.  I'm happy to report the Butcher is in fact comfortable to hold, US really nailed the design in my opinion. The only caveat to that is that it is comfortable to hold as a one handed saber, although it is good sized and has some weight to it, not really conducive to hold with two hands as the curve where you naturally hold it only really has room for one hand.  So be prepared to use the force with this one.  I can't wait for mine to arrive in October.

The Savior of course feels good as both a one hand and two handed saber because there is plenty of comfortable real estate on this one, the surprise is that it is much lighter than I expected.  Although I didn't try to spin their only display model, just from handling I expect it to be an excellent spinner and dueler because of how comfortable and light it is.  Now I am wishing I took some pics with them but it was great to get to hold them both.

I've been wondering about the Butcher and the Savior since Ultrasaber announced them and will go with the Savior first when I do place my order since the Butcher didn't appear as if it would be comfortable in the long run and now that you've experienced it and made your report, I'm glad that I've decided with the Savior first. I'll still own the Butcher but it'll wait.  Thanks for the update and have a point.

I guessed that much and therfore I was surprised when SFD posted this in-game-pic here. It seems the designer pictures Revan with really large hands when he's able to grab it up there ;D

Good to read. Did the ones you saw had different anodized colors? I was wondering how the various colors might look like in real life.

I would think similar to the Menace colors short of the gold but I have yet to see any of those colors in person either.  Still a mystery to me

They only had one of each on display at the booth (no blade, no electronics):

This is kind of a double post - for anyone not following the Raffle thread.  I received notification today that my Savior and Butcher should ship by the second week in October.

I've been pondering about ordering pommels from those two sabers myself.  Do post pictures please.

I really can't wait to see the reviews. It's probably best I waited till they were released to see how people will review it and how the sabers will look and feel. I have rather small hands so it'll be nice to see if it's even plausible for me to have.

The Savior will probably be better for smaller hands, as it appears to be standard MHS size on the main grip areas.

I think they're supposed to be a pre-sale perk only. But, you never know if that might change.

I can't wait, getting closer now :P Was gonna do a Monarch until this saber came out so. Can't wait to have me a new Savior saber =] I'm actually thinking of putting my Malice round pommel on, mixture of two cool Sith lord lightsaber designs in a way basically :P

I know the Butchers and Saviors aren’t shipping til halfway through October, but it doesn’t stop me from checking my account everyday anyway.  I’m mocked by my “Processing” status lol

Some patience is good, however too much can be seen as weakness

I know for me it has been hard to be patient, just counting down the weeks now, then the days, then the hours until I get that sweet sweet shipment notification.

I've always had the ideology that there are things that you just can't control and you have to let nature and the Force do it's thing.

Patience may be fine and good....

No shipping notification but I do have an email that says to contact US if I don't have one by the second week in Oct.

I'm gonna try and still get me a savior this week during the pre-sale, would be cool to get that new special blade plug for the specific saber :P

The Butcher looks amazing! I'd pre-order it immediately, if not sooner; but... I'm slightly concerned about the claw extensions that appear to travel down the entire hilt. It's an incredible aesthetic, but looks like it would be quite difficult, if not impossible to spin, no?

For that reason alone, I'm interested in seeing the initial reviews. After all, I need to find reasons NOT to purchase sabers now; since my saber purchasing habits have spiraled out of control quickly Lol.

So what you are saying is...if I do a video review...I need to spin the saber....

I think they were expecting to receive the empty hilts from their supplier around this time and still going to need additional time to do the various installs.  But I am just guessing, Deep did say it could be anywhere from mid October to end of October but it sounds like they want to have them out for Halloween if possible, at least that is the impression I got.  Either way I confirm I have not gotten a shipping notification yet and so I am watching this thread like a hawk for any updates from my fellow forum members.  ;)

That's a tad disappointing... but totally understandable. I know they did say they were thinking mid October, but now it looks like it's gonna be closer to late October  ( I was really hoping for the latter! ) But, will be hopingly anticipating my saber nevertheless.  ;)

Delays are completely normal in the saber industry.

Latest update from Marlena says that they’ve received some of the pieces from the workshop, but not all of them yet.

I'm actually glad it took a bit longer than the beginning of October, since I spur of the moment decided to get in on the Savior presale this morning. :)

Been waiting since August at the very launch of pre-sale (They announced it the same day that I was searching for Revan Sabers for my cosplay in progress), So I'm shaking with anticipation/anxiety/excitement! lol

That's one of the reasons I've not jumped on the V5 love just yet. I'm like: Do I want to wait until November? I think I'll just wait until a bit closer to start ordering some of those sabers. In the meantime, I'll have the Savior. :)

I'm with you sifidude79. I've held off ordering my Butcher and V5 for now,  till we start seeing them delivered. It's driving me nuts waiting to hear someone got their saber.  I want to just wait and save my money for the next big raffle or awesome flash sale.

I did a bad thing Dx in all of the waiting I sent an email to customer service about adding a requisition charge to upgrade my savior pre-order Dx

I thought about doing the same in adding Obs4 to my emerald Butcher... hmm... perhaps doing so will give us some kind of an update on the whole process?

Maybe. I’ll let you know when they get back to me about the requisition charge as to any ship date updates. Today is EXACTLY mid-October.

For those of you who are getting an emerald Butcher, what color is your saber going to be? Did you go with black or are you choosing a colored hilt?

I've got a black one coming. Had to go simple and effective.

Mine is diamond, not emerald, but I went with the black hilt, dark violet amethyst default blade color. Goin’ super traditional

Mine will be obsidian v4, black & VA

Got me an Obsidian V4 Butcher with blue anodizing and GB with VA FOC.

Edon, that's exactly what I was planning. Of course, I do have an alternate scenario in mind as well. It sounds like the sabre is going to lend itself to a lot of customizing. We all will be able to truly make it our own saber. I love the versatility that ultrasabers provides. Can't wait to see all of these sabers.

Mine will be an emerald Butcher (PO to start w/ fade to BH) w/ black anodizing. I just emailed Marlena about adding Obsv4 to make it the complete package. I'm thinking of adding AS FoC to go along with it.

Oops, realized it's a pulse to VA, not BH. Anywho, I contacted Marlena and am upgrading it to a diamond board instead of Obs4, as it's only $30 more. w00t!

I'm waiting to see what the anodizing on the butcher looks like before I order one.

I'm not really sure I like it. the black and gold look nice but I think the red/blue clash with the silver base a bit too much in my opinion.

I went with the black hilt, I wanted it to be as close to Revan's saber as I could get. This is my first emerald saber as well, I'm excited to tinker with it!

Technically $120 because the Obs4 board was $90, but I was planning on spending that anyway.

Double Diamond that is EPIC - it'll be interesting to see how they look in some non canon colors - I reckon Butcher in a mid-red/orange and Saviour with an Emerald Green....

Everyone eagerly awaiting their sabers please spare a thought of us who don't have them on order who have a double wait for it! First to get it to you and Second for you to post pics - you know after you get over the shock and awe of what will no doubt be amazing sabres in your hands!!!

(I know i'm totally selfish and living vicariously through others beautiful sabres, and My Diamond Emperors Hand no doubt resents my wandering eyes....but at least I'm honest).

Personally got mine in pretty traditional defaults (Butcher black anodized in DVA with AS flash and VA pulse, and Savior  Gold anodized in BR with SY Flash and SY pulse), but I’ll see about tinkering to show you the listed ;)

I believe Lord S said it best, please please please post pictures and I'll add, videos as well. Some of us will be living vicariously through those pictures and videos until we order our own sabers. Perhaps, mine will have to have an upgrade, to at least Emerald??? The plan was to order a butcher, anodized blue , with a guardian blue blade and perhaps premium sound. Either way, I can't wait to see these sabers. (I feel like a 9year  old kid, waiting to open a gift)

I got my delivery notification on my Butcher folks...  they’re coming!

Just got my tracking number from fedex, I’m in AZ and it said it should be in by Saturday end of day.

Got my shipping notification! Sadly, number is still too new to track. Given past orders, the Butcher will probably be here Wednesday of next week. Can't freaking wait!!!!!

They were still finalizing the changes for my savior this morning, so no shipping for me yet :( maybe tomorrow

I got lucky - I contacted US last night to change my Butcher from having windows to NO windows, got confirmation on it this morning, then my tracking info shortly after.  In under the wire hehe

Haven't gotten the shipping notification although I'm propably one of the last people that pre ordered them so will probably be one of the people to recieve them ;) ;)  .. 

Got my notification & date of Tuesday the 23rd!!! I'm curious however, as when I look at tracking info, it states that there is only one package-- I was a raffle winner, do they normally but both sabers in one package?

My Savior is shipping through USPS and I only have the label notification, but my butcher is coming Fedex and I expect it will be here Tuesday (even though it's shipped after the savior it might get here first).

As to yours, Revanchist, I would check the email you got stating it was shipped and see what content is listed in the shipment.

Got my "Order Complete" e-mail from Ultrasabers on my Savior. ;D You've gotta love their speed and efficiency. You know they had to have a lot of orders for these sabers, given the popularity of Revan, and they're getting 'em built and sent out. I ordered mine somewhat late, so it shouldn't be too much longer for everyone.

I have a tracking number, but it's still in pre-shipment. All good, though. :)

UPDATE! It would seem I've underestimated USPS. They just sent me a shipment update and apparently the expected delivery date for my Savior is TOMORROW!  I doubt I'll have it in time to bring to the temple for my class tomorrow during the day.... BUT STILL!!!! :o Butcher should still be Tuesday, coming through FedEx

UPDATE: Or maybe Monday? USPS just sent a different update again now -_- Perhaps Sunday? (occasionally packages are still delivered on Sundays here)

Packages can be delivered on Sundays. It depends what kind of rush was put on it. Last saber I got from US was shipped via USPS and it said 2-day air on the label. Talk about being pleasantly surprised. :)

Mine is now a showing delivery date on Monday, which suits me just fine. :D

Got an shipping notice this morning, showed that the shipping slip was printed at 11:01 last night, the guys at US are working around the clock to get these out. Thank you !!!!   Should be here Tuesday, going to be a long four days. My experience with raffle sabers is that they don't show on shipping notices, just bought sabers. Mine have been UPS & USPS

Yeah they’re machines right - nothing to dig or cut into you.  It is big though - especially in my tiny midget hands lol.  Someone with normal paws shouldn’t have any trouble, and even I can spin it just fine if I hold it right.

Thanks Kazuto, the blue looks very nice.  I am puzzled by the recharge port.  How do I know if it works?  After checking both sabers came with a recharge port, I don't mind on my prize but if it is a dummy port on my Butcher, I will be disappointed as I did not request.

That would suck to have something you don't or can't use. And yeah I wanted to see the blue in video or pictures as the site images aren't always accurate on color, like all the "Crimson" colored look orange on the site, but Red in video. When I get the money though Blue Butcher is my next buy, it will be my Ravenclaw saber. Blue and Silver with an Arctic Blue Blade  ;D

Great stuff, Edon Bluewolf. I love the Butcher with blue anodizing. I'd already decided that's what I'm going to get even before I saw that, but seeing it nails it down. Also, I now need the windows for that one. I'm only sad I didn't get in on the presale, that blade plug is sweet. Congrats on the win too. I've heard the prizes with Emerald do come with the V3 soundboard unless you pay to upgrade.

A couple things. To tell if the RCP is wired, just plug a 2.1mm plug into it. If it's wired, the saber shouldn't turn on when a plug is in it. If it turns on with a plug in it, then it's likely not wired. Also, V4 sabers always show your FoC LED only when you confirm a font selection. Since you have VA FoC, it just blends a red LED in with the blue of your blade, so it will flash red when you confirm.

I disagree.  All three of my sabers, with recharge ports, all work with the charger plugged in. And I am pretty sure, US doesn't wire the recharge ports to work with kill keys. I say plug it in to the charger, turn it on and if the LED light on the charger goes red, it is a functional recharge port.

Ah, I see. I was thinking maybe they were wired how most recharge ports are wired.

It appears to be the same blue as the Azure Menace. I wanted the electric blue. Maybe I'll get the red one or the black one. I wanted the blue to look more like the Azure Dorinian. I guess I'll wait for more people to post videos so I can get a better look.

FedEx says my Butcher and prize are in Perrysburg, OH (just south of Toledo), yet they still claim it will be delivered Wednesday. I highly doubt it takes two days to get 75 miles. **sigh** they can't get here soon enough

They held my first order an entire day just to hit their delivery window. The saber arrived in a local FedEx facility on Sunday and it was scheduled for delivery on Tuesday. So, it sat there all day Monday. Other times, they've arrived early. Usually, when I didn't know they would be there early and had nobody around to sign for it. ::)

That sucks that they held your order for a day just to hit their delivery window.  I too question delivery schedules, it appears that they either deliver way too early, midday when people are normally away, or way too late

Your delivery window can fall between about 8 AM and 8 PM, from what I can tell. That's true of UPS also. The estimated windows as to when your item will be delivered are based upon when a truck is estimated to be in your neighborhood. They can't give you an exact time because there can be unforseen delays, like traffic, someone not being home to sign and having to fill out one of those slips, someone taking longer than expected to sign, etc. So, they do the best they can. When my Dominix LE V3 was delivered, it was during US's brief experiment with UPS over the summer. They gave me a window between 3 PM and 7 PM. It was delivered at 7:21 PM.

I hope this isn't the case, as I'm having it go to a FedEx store because no one will be home to sign for it.

Canon finishes and colors, but they’re both diamond, so I can play with blade colors later. Given the fact that I’m using them for cosplay mostly I already knew I was getting canon finishes.

USPS came, but nothing yet. Security at front desk mentioned that sometimes they come back with 1 or 2 more packages after the first drop off (even this late) since there’s not a regular carrier for my building (it gets passed around between mail carriers within USPS) -_-

I got an added bonus when I opened the box and they sent my butcher with premium sound, a lithium ion setup, and a recharge port! Could not be happier.

Congrats on nabbing both. MIne, too, has a recharge port, and I wonder if it actually functional. I have been having troubles extracting the board from the hilt (to remove batteries or plug into computer for Diamond changes), so if it's not functional, I have no way of charging the batteries. Maybe an email to Marlena is in order

What colors did you want to see on each? I'm going to start playing with the diamond settings.

Anything you feel like showing but I think Saviour in a Sunrider or Emerald Green would look Awesome against a butcher with blazing red if your taking requests!

Both of those are in the Diamond defaults (Sunrider and Red) so I think I can arrange it easily enough. Give me a couple minutes to put the blades back in and then upload to Imgur.

I always get combat grade. Even if I’m not using that particular saver for combat, it means that I have spares for the others that I do use. But also: better safe than sorry; better paranoid than dead. I would rather have the extra security, especially since I also use them for cosplay.... plus, combat fade comes in handy when you live in downtown of one of the most dangerous cities in the US. Makes for a great self-defense weapon in case someome’s following you and all you have with you is a lightsaber (which is probably more often than should be the case >.> )

I just wanted to say thank you so much for sharing your sabers with us. Of course, we all know how it feels when we get to see the new sabers in all their magnificence. And even if we don't currently have one of our own, you're sharing makes us feel as if it were our saber to. Because you share your pictures, videos, and even answer our many many questions about them, over and over again, which allows us to figure out which saber we want and more importantly, help us to see which saber we didn't think we wanted,but now must have...well, just know it's truly appreciated. ( snap hissssss...call me soft, die where you stand!!)

Brilliant thanks Lady Revan - may not be canon but i think those colors really suit - the Saviour hs such a classic Jedi feel and the Butcher is just screaming for some Red Fury - nice lit AV switched too that will look amazing with the canon DVA! The light contrast in the second pick lying own reminds me of the promo art for KOTOR 2 (Nihlus v Atris)

Have fun with the diamond controller i challenge you to find a color either hilt does not look great with - I know my Emperors hand hasn't found one yet.

I went with a 32" midgrade on my Savior, it's a nice blade for that saber, in my opinion.

Let me know if you want me to cycle through a few other colors for the thread. Haven’t had time to figure out all of the finer-tuned diamond programming yet, but I can cycle SY, BR, FO, GB, AB, SD, VA, CG, and AS on both easily. I’m still trying to figure out what the sound font on my Savior is though. The default doesn’t sound like the normal Obsidian Font

More pics with blade's lit. My phone doesn't do the VA justice, need a new camera. With spinning the claws do seam to make it harder, but everyone's hands and skill level are different. The claws maybe removable the allen  head that holds them in place is smaller than any I have now so I don't know for sure. The recharge port on mine does work, at least the charger shows to be charging. Edon the blue Butcher looks great makes me second guess mine in black. There has been a lot of very nice raffle sabers, that Electrum  Wind is an awesome snag. A note about the recharge ports:

I've received a reply from Marlena about a small issue I'm having with my Butcher, and in it, I asked about the recharge ports. They are all completely functional and considered a courtesy upgrade. The only downside is that now I need to purchase a recharging cable   ;D

even with the downside, it's a pretty big upside.

That sounds like a nice combination Kaz.  I think the recharge port thing is just a surprise bonus, probably just so they could start shipping out the orders prior to Halloween with the hilts as came in from their suppliers.

It'll be my Ravenclaw themed saber, well along the movie colors of blue and silver. As for my budget just means less spending in Nov and Dec lol.

It seems like they all have the hole drilled and, if you don't order one, they just put one in there and don't wire it.

That sucks for those of us who don't like extra holes in our hilts.

If they did, they haven't posted in the forums that I know of yet. 

I ordered Gold Anodized Butcher in AB with VA FOC on the last day of the 2nd Raffle.  There has been no word on a ship date yet.  I suspect only the Black and Blue ones have come in at this point.  If no one has seen a Red or a Gold hilt, they may still be in production.  That would explain the lack of photos.  Or may hap, no one is foolish enough to choose my color schemes......   

The pre sale is still available, but ending soon.

I've been eyeing the new offerings.  I like the look of the new Aeon V5, but I keep thinking that the emitter claws would immediately come off because they are right where I grip the thing, and then its really just a V4 with a couple of slight changes.   But the Sentinel V5...

That one I like.  A LOT. 

Thinking the Dark Sentinel V5 LE, with either an Archon or Renegade LE (small) pommel, in either VA or AB.  Or Tri-Cree AS and cut some more filters.  :-)   But I really like the black/silver two-tone hilt with light blue or VA blade.  :-)

I can't really put my finger on why this hilt draws me like it does, but its just amazing.  My only worry is that, again, the grip point I tend to use, the forward choke, looks like it might be compromised by the new window arrangement.

Of note: This is my ultimate problem with Butcher.  The best place to grip the hilt for balance is where the fins are the thickest and the grip becomes the most untenable.   It looks amazing, but ultimately what I care about is how it works in my hand.  That's why I swing my Aeon V4 and Catalyst around ... and the Guardian sits on the shelf.

But none of it matters ... for now.  But one day, a Dark Sentinel V5 LE will be on its way to my house. 

Actually, I have tiny baby hands and I’ve found the Butcher actually works pretty well one handed once you can manage the weight. The curve of the claws running down the side mimics the shape of the hand pretty well. From there, the edges of the claws and the ribs of the emitter make for a nice finger brace, so I can actually hold it a lot better than other hilts of similar or smaller sizes (it’s MUCH easier/comfier than Electrum Wind and, in some ways, Emperor’s Hand). Granted, it’s a different grip than I would typically use for something else, but it doesn’t take terribly long for it to feel natural. You DO have to go lower to the thinner part of the hilt for flourishes though. Ribs also make it easier to prevent turning in the hand, which makes the single press “lock” flash feature easier to manage. It IS heavy though

Savior is super comfy and light though. Only issue for me is that it’s so smooth around it turns easily in combat and it’s easy to lose track of the AV switch

Thanks for the report!  Using them to enhance the grip...  I would have to try it out.  Maybe I'll have a chance to get one at a con.

I'm also wondering what the saber would look like with the fins removed entirely and with a Guardian or Scorpion pommel installed.  That might be another option, and would make an interesting looking hilt.  :-)

My current hilt of choice is a Dark Catalyst with a Scorpion pommel.  :-)  Its sporting light blue at the moment, but I have violet, pink, and yellow filters as well.   All look amazing.  :)

I can test both Guardian and scorpion pommels since I have both and post pics, but knowing my luck I would rather nor risk removing the ribs lol. I’ll test and post later when I get home.

Granted, I’ve had the grip concept before receiving the saber, so it’s been thought through. I’m just glad it worked out (reread the last part of chapter 10 “What is in a name” and you’ll understand ;) ).

Indeed XD makes piano difficult. I have to stretch to reach an octave.

But if I can hold it fine (these pics do not demonstrate the grip I described) I’m sure people with normal sized hands can figure it out. I did some light sparring with it two days ago and it felt fine, super secure the whole time. Only awkward part was figuring out how to change between front and backhand, but I always have issues with that, so I can’t blame the hilt

Only the Butcher appears to be this way. The Savior doesn't have a RCP hole if you don't order in-hilt recharge.

I brought my butcher and savior to practice today and the Grand Master commented that the butcher would actually be a better defense saber because of the weight for blocks with the savior in the dominant hand for speed in attacks if one were to dual wield them. I did the full two hours with the Savior and it wields beautifully.

I like the Butcher with the Crimson Scorpion pommel, looks really good

It's been pointed out to me that some people on Facebook have been critical of the size of these sabers, that Ultrasabers made them too big. (I'm not on Facebook and never will be again) In response to that, I have a few images to share:

Now, to me, both sabers look pretty dang big in the games. I've been playing KOTOR again and can confirm that the Savior looks accurate size wise. Also, I don't think Ultrasabers is at all off base with the size of the Butcher. It's a big hilt in game too.

Yes I can confirm that there were some negative comments about the Butcher in particular....and it didn't take a long time for them to appear either.
I'm not on FB but I do get to look at some of the groups without logging in (I always like to know if any of my "friends" mention me  ;D )

But in defence of the Butcher, it is pretty much to scale if Revan is proportioned like a well built Sith warrior!

Haters are immediately going to jump on anything Ultrasabers releases. I'm not a fan of the scale on a couple Utlrasabers (the Fulcrum, for one) but I think they're not off base at all with the Butcher. And, I know the Savior is about spot-on, size wise.

I belong to said groups to know about new releases and have witness the hate first hand.  The Butcher is really true to size and I’ve seen the other guys version that are much thinner in diameter which makes me wonder why they even design it in the first place

From my perspective, the Butcher looks incredible. As long as it's not too large to wield or something like that; I couldn't care less how big it is. I can't wait to get it.

Personally, I like a larger hilt anyway.

In response to the hate, let me just say I don’t get it. And yet, it’s something that’s apparent in almost any collecting community, or hobby enthusiasts group. Breaking it down in it’s simplest form, we could compare Ford and Chevy drivers. They are both very popular car makers and therefore, a good chunk of us will probably start out buying one or the other...and there’s nothing like that first experience. Then, after some time of driving one brand and getting very comfortable with it, those same people will switch up and try the other brand. It will usually feel a bit different, maybe even have some upgrades that take some time to adapt to. And while their favorite brand may have those same upgrades, all those little differences are now attributed to the other brand. And if they happen to get a lemon, they’re all lemons. Those folks will return to what they are used to and condemn the other brand.

Collectors are no different. Some will sample the fruits of other brands and enjoy the variety, while most will get caught up in the hype—or stick with that brand who started it all for them. And being fairly new to saber collecting, I can only say that looking around, I’ve seen companies who state anything without sound is a glow stick or a flashlight (and therefore a toy), others state sound and batteries change up the true dimensions of any saber and sound sabers are just toys. Scale is something that’s almost always an issue. I also collect diecast cars (Hotwheels, Johnny Lightning, etc...) and the battle of what is actually a true 1/64 scale, the stance of the car, rubber Vs. plastic tires, metal bases Vs. plastic bases, and overall accuracy demanded by some in a 3 inch car are arguments that go on and on.

What I’ve learned is simple: collect what YOU like. And enjoy it. Collecting for monetary value is always a crap shoot. And you’re never going to please everyone. 100% accuracy is rare and would probably mean licensing fees and more cost for the consumer. On the other hand, attention to detailing is always a winner. And if a company listens to their community and responds, that’s a rarity. Everyone is entitled to THEIR opinion. But what’s right for them isn’t going to be right for everyone.

Eventually, I will branch out and sample other brands. But I have to say, I feel like the companies who state in their banner that the “other guys” are just making toys and therefore crap, put me off. They have to know how that sounds—and consider that while they might want the other guys customers to sample their wares, they might also be offending the people who like that company they are casually putting down. That’s not a smart—or a user friendly—business model. If you only offer sound it’s because that’s you’re preference. If you don’t offer sound and focus on accuracy of models, let us know that too, but don’t slam everything else as a toy...because hey, collectibles range from plastic to metal and you’re almost always going to offend a good chunk of the collector’s market you’re trying to entice.  My two cents :)

I just don't get people who hate something because it's popular to hate it. It's like the people who didn't see Solo, yet said it was crap. How do you know? If you saw it and think it's crap, then that's something different. If you've handled an Ultrasaber in person and think it's not a good saber, I'm cool with that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But, don't be sheep and follow what others are doing. Be the alpha wolf and find out for yourself. Just my opinion, of course. I've tried various companies, and there are things that I like and don't like.

You're right, StoryDtechtive, it's very unprofessional when smiths badmouth others. There's one I won't order from because of this, among other factors.

Back to the Savior and Butcher, they look beautiful. I'm glad I bought my Savior. It's gorgeous, accurate enough for me, (the original saber is a low polygon game model with hardly any detail) and just a joy to wield. It makes this KOTOR fan super happy, especially since I paid $154 for a stunt, and that includes a forum color blade and that sweet presale blade plug. 8) Some guys charge about that much for just the hilt. I'll be picking up a Butcher at some point. I'm not worried about the size, I'm a tall dude and I have big hands. Ultrasabers' hilt size has never been an issue for me.

I never played the games but I always liked the look of both sabers so I can't wait to get either one so :P My top choice is still a black Savior though in Blazing Red ;o

I have a Lost Grey and will post this when I can. of course, I already made the swap, but I think I like default Butcher pommel a bit better.

Yes. Some people on social media apparently called out the size of the Butcher and Savior, I pointed out that they're not off base with the sizes based on game images. And, some others pointed out that some people like to hate on anything Ultrasabers releases. So, yes, it is relevant to the conversation about the Butcher and Savior.

Yeah....opinions. I know what that's like. It's like I'm all for a Yoda replica, but I'm very much looking forward to the US upscale. I always thought that saber was ridiculously too small even for Yoda.

Honestly, many of the hilts in the movies are ridiculously small. Look at Sidious's tiny sabers, or even Mace Windu's. You have to hammer fist your grip, which isn't even correct for Kendo, the martial art upon which lightsaber fighting in the prequels is built. A nice, 13-inch hilt like the Savior gives you ample room for a grip with your hands spaced appropriately. Anakin's Episode II hilt is pretty dang small too, but that makes sense as he would have been much younger and smaller when he built that saber. Yoda's definitely is too small, he also has to hammer fist his grip. Though, there's a difference between it looks good on screen and it's practical. Ultrasbers goes for practical.

I agree with you SD.  I'm a gear head and belong to quite a few car and motorcycle communities and I can say that the hate within a group towards other car groups or cars are utterly ridiculous.  I tend to just ignore them since most in the group aren't car lovers but specific car model lovers and love to try and make people feel bad when they trade their cars in for something better.  And not just the car community but in any hobby that you can think of, there's going to be those elitist types that treat what they have or what they're doing as the end all be all of the trade which it isn't in reality.

The whole purpose of a hobby is to get into something that you really and enjoy and one of the most fun part of it is to share it with like minded people within the hobby.  I see less and less of that in other communities and groups nowadays which is quite sad.  Reasons why I stay in this forum quite a bit since the community isn't blindsided like most.


I've own quite a bit of sabers now and most are from US but there are a few some the other guys and I like them just as much even though US is my go to.  I also don't get blindsided and stick with only US and treat the other guys like crap either.  I like them all and I dislike certain things between companies.  Just like my other hobbies, I dabble into the trade itself and don't stay partial to just one idea or company. I may have a strong like or stay loyal to a company while still buy products from others since I like it myself.

How many iPhone and Android users try to hate on each other?  There's tech and audiences for both parties just like sabering and everything else that's hobby.

Same thing goes for movies, books, games, tech, electronics, etc.

Looking at this image tells me 2 things:

1) Sam has large hands

2) He either has no clue how to properly grip a sword, or is an avid golf player. His grip looks very similar to how one grips a golf club.

Totally this. Can't express how much hate I'm getting for dropping a 350 in a 40's Ford. Sorry, if Ford made an engine as reliable and part-friendly as a 350, I'd use that. Not to mention, it's what I grew up on, but at the end of the day, it's my car and I don't care what other people think I should do to it.

Agreed, there's a reason why most Hollywood stunt cars uses 350 blocks in most stunt cars. Back to what you're saying, if that's what you like, then it's what you like despite what anyone says and it's yours to do whatever it is that you want. 

With you!   The 350 is an AMAZING engine!  I'm a life-long Ford fan, but if you can fit that engine into your project, DO IT!  :-)

Sorry if I went on a bit at length about the haters issue. I do feel it’s relevant whenever US comes out with something new—and especially the movie/game replicas. I haven’t played the games either, but the US Savior seems like a nice take on the saber. And I would like to use this example to add something further considering size.

I’ve had a couple of comments on my Electrum Wind review that stated the same issues. I’ve tried to point out (politely) a couple of obvious facts—some of which have been touched on in this thread:

While the blade of an actual lightsaber would be made of photons, and therefore weightless, all balance and functionality resides in the hilt. US is at least considering the point of balance and giving room to grip their “combat ready” sabers. Accuracy—in terms of movie saber—does not equate balance. Just look at the Mace Windu pic a few posts back and it tells me that it would be an easy slip to hit the power button, or accidentally grab the blade on something so short when doing some fancy maneuver. Of course, the Jedi had the whole force thing to guide them. However, there’s no room for balance when executing those fancy spins used in the prequels on some of those movie sabers.

Back to the savior—whether it’s a fantasy duel, or trying to imagine being a Jedi who actually had to wield one of these things against some pretty large, formidable opponents—which would you rather have...the US version, or a small tube of weightless metal you couldn’t realistically (or safely) get your hands around, much less wield accurately without using the force to spin and stay at the right place in your hands without losing them? And wouldn’t such a use of the force to manipulate a poorly constructed weapon distract, or divide focus from other things?

Or would you (as a smart Jedi) just construct yourself a better saber with a bit more length and weight for proper balance? So hasn’t US course correct some of those flaws in terms of making a better dueling saber? Isn’t that kind of the point for a combat saber? Oh, my...that’s probably too much logic :)

Overreacted when dropping as it was just on carpet but anyway reached down too quick and stabbed myself between the fingers with one of the points as the hilt landed straight up instead of at an angle like I was expecting.  The points aren't sharp it is just I used too much force to try and catch it because I was worried about scratching it, lol.   Looks worse than it felt, it actually doesn't hurt much at all.

This is an excellent point. UltraSabers is up front about producing combat-ready sabers; they even pride themselves on it. Everyone who owns one has likely noticed that payment goes to a company called "Combat Saber Specialists". They do a superb job redesigning canon hilts to balance accuracy against functionality.

It makes sense to me that if what you're looking for is an absolute replica of a canon saber hilt seen in the films, and nothing more; you will be looking elsewhere.

From what Therion said, gloves are recommended and may aide with grip but I don't have one so can't comment.  I'd check with the Butcher and Savior thread or just wait for one of the owns to comment.

My Butcher is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, so I will advise. I grip almost exclusively with a single hand, but I’ll double grip it and let you know what I think. I figure my hands are about the same; medium/large.

If everything works out money wise, now leaning toward color wise a switch of revan with a gold butcher and a black savior. Giving the butcher a green blade like my graflex and the savior  a silver blade.

I take pics of mine when I get them out. Usually, you get about 2 hours or so of amazing quality blade pics, then the batteries start to go out and it doesn't look as cool.

That is a mid-grade, Infinit01. I’ve grown partial to the aesthetics of the mid-grade. I actually ordered 2 additional mid-grade blades with this order to replace a heavy grade and an Ultra-Edge blade on existing sabers.

Most of what I’ll do with these sabers beyond just marveling at their beauty, is video stuff and choreography, spinning, etc. If I ever end up finding the opportunity to duel, I have a couple heavy grade blades I can use. Better than the saber. The saber looks great, but the SITH attire is even better.

After the saber, the armor was the most expensive part. Take out the armor, and I think I spent less than $250 on the outfit.

Here are some quick pics of my New Butcher.  It is a Gold Butcher with quick disconnects in Guardian Blue, plus a pick w/ Sun Riders Destiny LED. I quite like the gold detailing and the windows.  But, it is a monster saber.  I'm 5'9" with small to medium hand size and this saber is harder to grip than my Electrum Wind.   It's of similar weight, but a two handed grip is necessary, if slightly unwieldy.  I'll have to start practicing a left handed over/right handed under grip to be comfortable with the beast.

Man, I actually have a Gold Butcher with SRD living in my wish list as we speak.  Love your Butcher man and thank you for sharing since now I'm even more excited to eventually order this.  (The Savior takes first priority for me).  Have a point.

I'm not sure what detail you are referring to.  I did not alter the photos, except to dim the reflection of the lens flare on my camera phone.  So what you see is how they arrived. detail and all.

The gold bit on the pommel section, would that be on the pommel or main body?

It's on the pommel and anodized all the way through the threading and to the interior of the pommel where you wouldn't even see it without taking the pommel off, really nice touch by US.

That Gold Butcher...wow the different colour totally changes he entire feel of the sabre, it looks regal like something a Force wielding King/Queen would carry at a coronation.  Thinking in EU terms its the kind of thin i imagine a Hapan might use, opulent but ferocious in equal measure.

That Gold Butcher is sweet and has that exclusive/luxurious look to it. I got to handle a few Ultrasabers at the weekend that were being used by a Jedi Training School and I imagine the beating they take from the 3-13 year olds is massive yet the finish on them was still silky smooth as if straight out of the box. So it doesn't surprise me that the anodizing would be good on this hilt.

A gold Butcher with a black AV Switch!  That's a cool looking combination.  Now I want to see it with a black butcher pommel in Sentinel Yellow with an yellow lighted, black AV switch.  The subtlety of markings and color combinations on the Butcher appear to be infinite........

Actually thinking of just going canon with the Savior aside from a black av, its time for another canon type saber again :P Only one I have so far is the Archon V2.1 so

I think that would be an interesting color scheme. Green and gold go very well together. One of my favorite color combinations, actually.

So I think the Butcher blade plug is going to be available for purchase! I just asked US after placing my order if there was a way they could add it with my Butcher since I just missed the presale cutoff. They added it as a courtesy and I did have to pay a little more than the usual  blade plug but I really like it and I am saving 15% so it was worth it. They said they weren't sure what would be the official price would be yet once it was listed. So just a heads up it might be available in the future if you're buying Butchers now.

No, it looks like the original 4 colors are available. They even have the color options as unique listings.

I got my black Butcher today. It is indeed hefty and doesn't look like I'll need doing anything with it lol but it makes a great shelf piece. Also even though I got it a day after presale I ended up getting the plug and the recharge port! Also got my 2nd Spectre in classic black and coupler. My Spectre staff is coming. I'll post pics soon!

Nice. Definitely get pics of all 3 sabers for sure :P Can always get you a broom holder thing for a nice wall display so its not as boring =] I plan on doing that soon too actually but more like a 13 broom holder thing or something along those lines. I have like 7 I think dueling sabers and 3 fx sabers and soon to be 8 duelers when I get my Savior saber so :P

Was nice to see a Revan with a US Butcher and Savior at SWCC.  I brought my Savior but ended opting for my Emperor's Hand to pair with it as Security was hit or miss with "edged" sabers.  

Savior is on my radar, do you like it?

My friend brought his US Emperors Hand And has no issues. I had blades in my two Saviors and my catalyst staff and the the only time security gave me a hard time was when they decided my scizors for spare Velcro weren’t only the 5th day (they had been all the other days). Sucrity was honestly a joke. I’m sorry to hear you had issues with your sabers. Kudos to Gold Butcher Guy though because if I recall correctly he wasn’t using the covertechs and held thenthe whole day.

  Very much so, it is comfy in the hand and balances well for me.

I didn't actually have any issues.  I was following some of the social media posts.  Originally there was a post calling out Ultrasabers specifically.  I saw that someone was turned away because of their Dooku.  I just decided to play it safe and left the Butcher behind.  That being said...yes security was hit or miss.

More to add to the wish list...  ::) :P
