From what I understand, the LSU converter (program to convert .wav files into Obsidian v3 and earlier-compatible .lsu soundfonts) came as part of the installation package on the earlier versions of the obsidian launcher. I wasn't able to find it in my installation of the v4 launcher.

I'd like to try my hand at making some soundfonts for the community, but I'd like to make them usable by the earlier sabers as well.

Where could I get the converter?

It's only available with the v2.2.2 launcher - the pre-predecessor of the v4 launcher. The v3.2.2 and v4 don't have it anymore.

Ok, tried downloading 2.2.2 but the application wouldn't install, and Norton Antivirus would quarantine and delete the LSU converter evry time I tried to run it.

Any other way to make Obsidian v3 compatible soundfonts?

Hmmm good question. I believe they have to be .lsu files to work on the V3. Though the lsu converter works for me, I am interested in any thoughts others have to this question.

Can you tell me if there are any error messages and, if so, what do they say (pic would be great then)? It is possible that you need to add a specific file for the launcher to run.
As for the anti-virus issue: Try to white-list the executable if possible. This should prevent Norton from quarantining it again.

V2.2.2 finaly loaded, but .lsu converter still does not work.

Had to remove Obsidian v4, install v2.2.2 first, then Install v4 however, the converter was still auto quarantined/ deleted by Norton 360 whenever I attempted to run it.

After Whitelisting it to Norton 360 it still gives a:

Run-time error '53'
File not found: 'C:\users\Roberto\Downloads\ultrasabers_small.bmp'

error message and the converter does not open.

UPDATE:

SUCCESS!!!!!! I was able to get the converter to load!
Once the 2.2.2 launcher is loaded, it includes that "Ultrasabers_small.bmp" bitmap image in the installation folder. The converter requires that image, but it is not in the correct folder for it to find it, so I merely copied/pasted the bitmap into the "downloads" folder where the converter was looking for it.

I'll experiment a little more but I suspect the converter is a 'standalone" application, and that it merely looks for that particular image to be in whatever folder the converter application is itself located.

I'll start chopping up .wav files and trying my hand at soundfont engineering!!

That's awesome news! Font making is fun stuff! I would suggest patience and allow yourself to experiment, make some mistakes and just have fun with it. That's just coming from personal experience Cheesy
