Hey all just started my lil experiment to my Dom v3 today drilling some emitter holes and I love the way it turned out! Next step will be weathering and I'm still on the fence about putting a leather grip on the boy ... It'll probably happen Smiley lemme know what you guys think!

that's a nice subtle addition to your lightsaber.  I like it.  I also think if you weather the black anodizing, that can look absolutely gorgeous.  There are a couple others on here that have done that, and it's definitely made me want to get the black finish on most of my lightsabers now Cheesy

I also like the leather too personally.  Ever since Rham Kota's lightsaber, I've been a fan of something that almost seems to obvious to do.  I do like my leather wrapped hilts in everything else I do Cheesy

It's a number 2 center punch... At least I think it's called a center punch haha! Worked like a dream, only one of the holes is a little off from where I'd have liked it but it really is a minor detail. Gonna do a mock up of the leather wrap tonight I think I'll post pictures later if I can sneak to the garage for a bit Smiley

looking forward to seeing how you choose to apply the leather.  There's actually quite a few different options out there

Didn't get to the leather wrapping but I did weather it! I Love how it turned out! I feel like a jedi now not just a padawan! Pics don't do it full justice but here's a few anywho!

And for comparison here is it per weathering

Very easy just took a fine grain sand paper held it in my hand put the saber in my "palm" and twisted the saber on the sandpaper for varying degrees of time to get the effect. later today I can maybe do a lil tutorial slide show thing to really illustrate it but yeah that's all it took. Bout an hour over all so it's a quick mod too!

Sweet Cheesy I've done my fair share of "force perspective realism" and I was hoping it was that easy.  So much easier than doing the paint layer by layer lol.  Although, I've yet to see a blaster muzzle look good any other way Wink

Thought I'd post a few more pics in day light so you can see the subtletys better.

Love it so much more now! I think that customization is what the aeons, doms, and initiates were made for! So awesome!

Nice job weathering your saber, looked good on you desk, in the natural light it looks stunning!

Would love to try this on one of mine at some point but no idea where I would start, and don't wanna balls up one of my lightsabers lol

How did you protect the switch while you sanded the rest of the hilt?
