I have used Audacity to cut a song I have recently converted to wav.  I tried to use the Lsu converter on it and it said that only mono files that are 48 kHz and 16 bit can be converted, so I converted it to those settings and went back to convert it and I got the same message, did I miss something?

Yes and I also made it 16 bit and 48kHz

Booo! How big are the files in size? Is it the CRC error? Usually, that points to a file size that's too big. Audacity might be able to further compress the audio. Take a look at the export settings. Audacity is a great program for this!
