Forgive me for bringing back some old subject but I wanted to give my opinion on it: math I remember some rather dumb problems to solve but at least the right answer usually was sound, at least as far as the math is concerned. That being said, filling up a leaking bath tub got me to answer "I patch it up, fill it up, save water and it takes less time to fill". I was the kind of kid who always tries to find a better, more practical solution  I did however write how much time it would take to fll. My teacher didn't give me all the points for it because I "hadn't done what I was asked to do", but still gave me half the points for "a smart and sound answer". I won't say anything about public education save that I don't know how it works in your different states. I went through public education back in my country and it was good but we're not all as lucky. Again, sorry for bringing the subject back up. |

Really good idea that you used to solve that math problem, Crue. Lol. I've been in public education from two different states, and four different schools, one in California and three high schools in Texas. Texas has standardized testing which has gotten harder and harder throughout the years since I graduated and even if you had all As year round, if you failed the standardized tests for your grade, you repeat the grade the following year. No exceptions California didn't have that when I was living there and I was only in school until 9th grade so things may have changed since then. My older sisters went to a private school for high school and they both have a four year degree which is great for them; however, even after the military, I make more money than they do. My sisters had to study for hours on hours and still get Cs to Bs when I NEVER studied and got As. They were rather upset with me claiming that I cheated and what not. I know people who's gone to private schools and hardly learned anything or weren't as smart as those in public schools. To me, it all depends on the individual and how they are raised as far as being smart and being able to complete your education. Any how that's just my take on education so just like Crue, I'm digressing. Happy Friday!!! |

Then north again and then home. If I ever have the inclination to visit CA, I'll stop out and see you. Be aware that is highly unlikely to happen tho. |
