Nothing wrong with getting offended at something...the problem comes when you want your offense to become a rallying cry. A tv show offends you? Don't watch it. A comedian tells jokes you find too offensive to be funny? don't watch them. Its this "I don't like it so no one should..." mentality that is the issue. |

Nothing wrong with getting offended at something...the problem comes when you want your offense to become a rallying cry. A tv show offends you? Don't watch it. A comedian tells jokes you find too offensive to be funny? don't watch them. Its this "I don't like it so no one should..." mentality that is the issue.
Exactly. The rolly eyes did make it clear I was being sarcastic right? Speaking of comedians people might find too offensive, have you guys seen Tom Segura? He's ruthless and currently my favorite stand up. I highly recommend his three Netflix specials. |

True. I had it out with a former prestigious member of this forum. She had it in her mind that I was "offensive, rude and opinionated". I shocked her by agreeing. I said that I truly believed that if one is going to have opinions to be opinionated. Believe that what you believe is right, and don't easily change your mind because someone else's opinion differs. I love this because it sparks lively debate. Convince me to see things differently, don't just say I'm wrong and call me a big dooty head. We got along a lot better after that confrontation.  HA! Now I have to give bB a point.
You have to admit, the look on Ackbar's face is perfectly priceless. |

Speaking on an individual level. Many times I have had to tell someone that I meant no offense but nor would I change my opinion. That leads into another gripe...don't get angry if someone doesn't change their opinion. If you present your argument, they consider and decide that their opinion is still valid....leave it at a Agree to Disagree.
