The journey continues ... A few days ago I really went after those blue filters cutting out another 12 shades/variations. I have proof - of course this isn't all of them Why? The blue filters are like the red ones; one is a tad too washed out and using 2 makes it too dark. So I did some more looking around to find a single blue that's a DARK blue but still bright. Results - fail You can tell the darker blues have potential but they get too dim to be effective unless that's how you're willing to role. What blue filters DO work good? The ones meant to be light blue - like AB, Sky Blue, Caribbean Blue (not a thing, but I can tell you can picture it ). Also, filters that are Teal/SRD are quality. Here's a decent example of a good light blue, with the second pic focused on the blade so you get a good idea of the actual colour. Bright Blue #141 x 1

Excellent Haz. OOO - Caribbean blue! Yes please. I was just thinking to myself a day or two ago, that other that the "electric" or "lightning" shades of blue, we're kind of done there...lol I myself would REALLY like to see a good, bright, deep blue. Like twilight. Another spectacular round though, so another big ol' +1. (I notice that your circles aren't perfectly round. What are you using to cut them out?)

I can definitely see where the dark blues might run into troubles. Again, thanks for sharing

Thanks gents (I notice that your circles aren't perfectly round. What are you using to cut them out?)
I'm using an US plastic filter as a template to trace then just using scissors to cut them out. The ones that are really out of shape is me trying to squeeze a third filter off of a swatch

LOL I use a blade plug to trace a circle on the gel and then cut it out by hand. :-)
I've had the same problem with any gel that's supposed to be a truly dark color. Dark blue is the worst, but dark green and dark red, dark purple... They all dim to far to be really good. But there are dozens of lighter colors that work well. The filters really shine, though, with teals and yellows/oranges, and light lavendar colors or pinks. The red-end of the spectrum works better, I think, and "mixed" colors, colors that are a mix of red, green and blue somehow, filter better because you're letting more of the spectrum through the filter in the first place. When you go for blue or red or green, you're automatically screening out 2/3 of the spectrum from a white light. From my Emerald, it seems that a brilliang, vibrant yellow is red + green + a little bit of blue. So a yellow filter is only screening out part of the blue and letting everything else through. Hence its the best, brightest color to filter.
OK, science lesson done for the day. :-)

We interrupt your regularly scheduled broadcast with this unimportant announcement: So I finally got my lee filters and have a suggestion, Artic blue with 767, 768, or 769 for those of the corrosive sith persuasion. We now return to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.
