Don't duel a thick walled blade against a thin walled.... The thin walled blade will not hold up lol!

Surprisingly not that badly... the blade is actually salvageable. The end kind of shattered and the tip flew off obviously. All I need to do is cut down the broken area and glue the tip back on...

I've been feeling a little left out though honestly, all these people talking about breaking blades all the time, I've been dueling 3/4'' blades most of my saber career and I hadn't broken one blade.

Hmm. Good to know. I'd done a little light dueling with my Initiate Mid Grade against a Full Length Heavy and noticed it scuffed up real fast compared to normal Heavy on Heavy, but I didn't think much of it. I'll be careful in future, since with that blade I don't get to do much Form II but have to rely on some close quarters Form V. Wouldn't want to snap a blade off that close in. LOL

But anyways, congrats on blowing your first blade! I haven't busted one yet, but I broke a bokken once and that was awesome. Smiley Scared the crap outta me when we did that though. XD

Doesn't the blade have a little indent on top so the tip fits in?

No, the tip went right in, that may be the diffuser material inside that you're seeing as the indent.

On a long enough timeline everything breaks... At least this is true for me.

After reading this I thought to myself "I can't even imagine how hard that hit had to be to crack a blade" then...

I'm cursed.  :-/

Nope.  I was doing a jury rigged practice exercise, at work, and accidentally smacked the blade (initiate sized) into some large metal shelving.  The tip went flying.  I glued it back on as is because I lack the facilities to cut it down, but don't plan to use this blade for anything more than spinning until I can hack off the broken bit.

Goto a hobby store and get a fine saw X-acto makes one will make short clean work of the blade. Smiley
