First, my honorables.
Con-Air (1997) Scream (1996) Back to the Future III (1990)
11- My Girl (1991) 10- As Good As It Gets (1997) 9- Terminator 2 (1991) 8- From Dusk Til Dawn (1996) 7- Silence of the Lambs (1991) 6- Pulp Fiction (1994) Be cool b*tch! Yes, 6! 5- Friday (1995) 4- Rudy (1993) 3- Life is Beautiful (1997) 2- American History X (1998) 1- Fight Club (1999)
Some great picks there and some....interesting picks too (My Girl). Also, I am contractually bound to always be against As Good As It Gets as Jack Nicholson stole Best Actor that year from Denzel Washington. Scratch that. Got my years mixed up. (Alternative facts and fake news. My total bad)

Which one were you thinking? My Girl is in there cuz damn that movie pulled at me so young. Shouldn't have even be so emotionally drawn to it, but little Vada crying for Thomas Jay tears me up.

I thought Jack beat Denzel for his performance in The Hurricane. But The Hurricane came out in 1999. My Girl is in there cuz damn that movie pulled at me so young. Shouldn't have even be so emotionally drawn to it, but little Vada crying for Thomas Jay tears me up.
For me I found it "meh" but I would never disparage anyone for liking a movie that drove them to tears. Mine is the ending to Malcolm X with the narration by Ossie Davies. Always gives me the feels and the tears.

Oh snaps! Malcolm X! 1992 I liked young Denzel films, I'm not a huge Denzel fan though. I respect his work, but gosh he just can't play a normal guy anymore

Have you not seen Fences? A powerful performance, that is Oscar nominated and he plays a "normal" guy in that (depending on your definition of normal). Plus, as an actor with range, I like that he mixes up what he does, so we don't get the same thing over and over (that ways leads to a parody caricature). However, as a card carrying chocolate brother, it is required to like Denzel in order to continue my membership.

Especially loving the Robin Williams twofer (I still miss him)

Yea, I actually am not a fan of Denzel at all. I always get looks like I have 2 heads when I say that, but he just isn't a good actor to me.

I'm curious as to who you do consider to be a good actor?

My mom salivates at the site of Denzel so I gotta watch my food when I go over for dinner at her house and drop heaters like that

I think it would be easier to say why I think Denzel isn't a good actor than to list all the actors I think are good. Plain and simple...he's flat. I don't believe him in any role he plays, its the same way I feel about Affleck.

Well I didn't want a "complete" list, just a handful of names. You say you find his performances flat. Have you seen Malcolm X, which is in my opinion, one of his greatest performances ever as he plays the character at so many different points in his life. As for Affleck, I have never thought he was a good actor. When you look back at Good Will Hunting, you can see the talent that Matt Damon had (and even Casey Affleck had) but Ben was bad. He has gotten better, especially since he started directing. He's still not amazing, but much better than he was. GREAT director though. And he was a great Batman.
