So my dad is in another state on a business trip, eating breakfast with his coworkers, and some FREKING JACKALOPE (words are censored and other similarrily same worded words are put in place for the children) SON OF A WHITCH stole all the stuff he brought (clothes, work laptop, work stuff, phone [deactivated now] etc.) except the clothes on his back, work phone, and wallet. So this is the second robbery our family has had in the last 4 months. Why the heck are people such freaking terrible people? I have no answer, and nobody else does either. So that's what I'm venting about.

Wow, that sucks. I've been robbed more recently myself, so I know how you feel.

This is probably very wrong of me but I am about to explode if I don't get this out.  I have a neighbor who has been a major D.B. since the day my family moved into the neighborhood.  Without delving too deep, he just doesn't like my religion and has gone out of his way to make every effort to make me feel unwelcomed.

Well, his mouth (or should I say keyboard) just got the best of him.  He has admitted via the neighborhood Facebook account that he has been killing neighborhood pets for the past 13 years and failed to realize that he posted it publicly rather than on his own Facebook page where it would only viewable by his friends.  The neighborhood is in an uproar to the point his wife has left him and taken his daughter with her.

I am actually happy to see him get this treatment even though I have been scolded by others for being happy.  I just cannot help myself as I have been a huge believer in Karma.

So, this is nothing like as serious as some folks, but still. I've been looking for a new job for a while now. I'm happy to have a job, of course, and am not going to lose sight of how lucky I am in comparison to so many others. Nonetheless, the pay isn't what it could be and I have a long commute. I thought I found the ideal job in my home town - a much shorter commute, a 10%+ pay rise and seemingly quite a bit less work too. It seemed ideal... unfortunately I was one of several dozen who thought so (and I work in quite a specialised field, so that's unusual). Long story short, I haven't even got an interview.

It's my own fault for anticipating I'd at least get that far, but I never imagined there'd be anything like the level of interest in the job that there was. I'd allowed myself to make plans for the extra money (you can probably guess what...), even if I should have known better.

There are more important things in the world... I'm just annoyed about it. Jobs in my field in my area don't come up very often, and now seemed like a good time to move on. Oh well...

I sure hope he enjoys the taste of his own knee, given that's how far he's stuck his foot into his mouth. I assume that the police will be notified about this and he will be prosecuted under multiple counts of cruelty to animals. It's a felony in every state except North and South Dakota (where they are top tier misdemeanors).

Sorry to hear that.  It is very rough looking for jobs these days especially in specialized fields.  I hope that this leads you to a path that will be better than the one you didn't get.  Best wishes to you.

@Jev:  I am pretty sure they will be reporting him as one of the neighborhood board members is a LEO.  As for me, I am simply staying away from it.  I don't want to give him any outs at all.  If I get involved, I am sure he will have an attorney that will try to say it was me trying to seek revenge on him.  The less involved I am, the more likely the charges will hopefully stick.  I was just shocked to here that his wife grew a backbone and actually left him.  I never though that would have happened.

That's just horrible. He's getting what he deserves IMO, so you shouldn't feel too bad about being happy to see that. As far as I'm concerned, he did it to himself when he decided to kill neighborhood pets. Does anyone know what reasons he had for doing that? Does he not like animals? Or was it some sort of revenge against their owners?

I've been there a few times myself. In fact the interview I had recently, I did that. It sucks, but luckily it's fairly harmless, as it just means I can't make that stupid purchase I planned on yet. Cheesy It's pretty natural to be highly(sometimes overly) optimistic about your chances of getting a job you apply/interview for.

Everybody's got their breaking point, man. It's no secret that people who torture and kill animals for fun can move on to humans relatively easily. She is most likely trying to protect her daughter.

People who get easily offended at others' kindness are usually just jealous and incapable of kindness themselves. At least that's been the case with the major DBs I've put up with... Yay for justice, though! Thanks for sharing, Blue. I always like to read that animal killers get theirs, though I admit that I would prefer to hear that nobody's killin animals! At least this story sounds like it will end favorably.

@TJ, He is a little bit of the neighborhood vigilante.  He likes to do the "I have my rights under the Constitution" bit whenever anyone from the enforcement committee pays him a visit yet he is the first to make a stink about how others need to obey the rules when it suits his purposes.  There were complaints about some dogs barking at 3 a.m. about three years back that came missing.  Then there was the issue with a guy keeping poisonous snakes in his garage.  One gets out and it is found shot on the side of the road.  Not a bad thing overall but it was done in the middle of the neighborhood and no one heard or saw anything at the time.  A man recently adopted three river otters and was keeping them as pets and two mysterious died by being "run over" perfectly in the middle like they were lain in from of a set of tires.  When our local animal wildlife professor ask to take a closer look, he found that they had been shot.  If I had to guess, revenge and self righteousness honestly.  In all of the above named incidents, he was the one screaming loudest that something needed to be done to them.

@Jev, That is the weird thing about her.  I have seen her child running into traffic while she sat on the front porch reading a book.  Her daughter has also walked outside of the neighborhood and was found about 3 miles away from our front entrance by neighbors.  She never knew she was gone.  We recently had a neighbor pull her from walking on thin ice at one of the local lakes.  Neither parent knew she was missing.  She literally watched her husband kiss another woman at a block party and laughed it off while everyone else was very weirded out by it.  Just struck me as super unusual as she would stand up for him no matter the situation.

@Ed, the neighborhood's forum is linked to several media sites and you can post through a variety of means.  The girl that created it is a former software developer turned stay at home mom and she set it where only the administrators can remove the posts.  His post is there permanently.  He has no way to remove it.  He has done stupid stuff like this before such as making a comment about a pet pot bellied pig that the owner refused to keep in a fence and how he would like to eat some home made bacon.  I am pretty sure that the admins are going through all of his posts to see what they can piece together.  I had one of the board members approach me tonight in Kempo class and state that two of the five members had already decided to press charges and thought a third would be on board as soon as he got off work.  My only request to Bill was that he not add my list of complaints to this particular situation so that R.P. could not make this into a religious battle.  I figure animal cruelty alone would be enough to take the guy down.

@EE, I certainly hope it ends favorably.  I am often amazed at the stupidity of some people.

Boy they are certainly raising the bar for parent of the year eh?

It certainly looks like he can go down for animal cruelty. How heavy of a sentence does that carry your way Blue?

Like I said, everyone's got their breaking point. Maybe this incident wasn't the cause, but perhaps it was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. Perhaps she saw no way out before, and now that he is most certainly facing felony charges, she realized that this was her chance to save her and her daughter.

From Jev's chart, it appears the most he would face would be 5 years or $10,000 fine.  According to the ASPCA website, I live in a state that ranks in the top 5 worst for prosecuting animal cruelty offenders.  From past experience with personally dealing with issues with this guy, I am not totally hopeful.  My joy came from seeing his happy little existence being destroyed and his standing in the community drop so low.
