This is a thread for anyone interested in attending Star Wars Celebration in Chicago from April 11th to the 15th in 2019. This can also serve as a place to make plans for meetups, who will be going when, etc. I'm still trying to figure out how I would be able to go and afford the hotel and such.
As a hypothetical scenario, is there anyone here who would want to share a hotel room to cut the cost down?

Logos and I are planning on getting tickets. Any plans beyond that haven't even been thought of... Still stuck on OMG Star Wars Celebration is close to home!  ::)

Someone was kind enough to offer me a free vendor pass in exchange for helping out at his booth. I still have to come up with the hotel plan, food, and gas, but it looks like I'll at least be able to go this time.

well, you did offer to some of us heading you end for something...think this would be perfect!

Yeah, this is a good reason to get everyone to IL. Just remember I don't actually live in Chicago and despise the place, so I'm not the best tour guide   :P

Yeah, definatelly want to go, won't be able to put money into this till probably fall, so have to hope they are still avail, and can find someone to share hotel room with, cause we know they are going to be sold out by then...

Would love to go to a Star Wars Celebration... but will not go to Chicago.
I've been to Chicago, I hate Chicago, I hate the suburbs around Chicago. 
In fact, 99% of Illinois can suck it.
The only part of Illinois I will willingly enter is the corridor of Interstate 70 that passes through to Indiana,  110 miles, I can cross the state in 90 minutes, and I will NOT stop within those borders.

I'm not crazy about Chicago either. And to be honest, I'm not sure if I'll be going at all. My wife and I are planning a trip to Florida in Christmas 2019 to do research in preparation for moving in about 2-3 years and I need to save up for that. Depending on ticket and hotel prices, I may still be going, but will probably definitely have to share a hotel room with some people to lower the cost of that. I should know for sure whether I'm going or not within the first week of June when the prices drop.

like we're actually going there to see the city.  :D
we all know we're there for the celebration...no fluff needed.

I'm considering going on a day pass on the Sunday, but haven't decided yet.
But following this thread for news, meets, events, etc. 

With the Saturday tickets sold out, I'm kinda stuck about it. I've never been to a con or anything. I have no one I know to go with. So, to just go for Sunday or Thursday and Friday just doesn't have certainty for me to be worth driving all that way.

Am I reading the site wrong? Is there still a way to get in Saturday?

I may do so but need to talk to the wife about it first just to make sure that no other plans are being made or have been made.  Keep me posted and I don't mind sharing a room with someone to keep cost down either.  I'll do either the Thursday or Friday one but rather not do the Sunday one if I can help it. 

Just was able to secure a 5-Day pass today! I had a conflict so I wasn't going, but the conflict cancelled! ^_^

Wish I could go, but finances and other factors will be preventing it. I'll have to catch it another time.

Some other time then! Maybe we can plan a meet up if you do your Florida 2019.

Oh, I imagine it would have to be in order to fit the whole thing. I believe the SaberGuild performances are Saturday though, so I know I’m going to be there for at least part of it. Should know by mid February if Dagobah Temple’s script is selected.

All who are going, be sure to get in a position where I can see y'all when I watch the stream. :D

There's a "Star Wars Celebration" hosted every couple years. If not this one, then perhaps the next.

usually every other yr. last was in Fl. 2017, prior was 2015. so next will be 2021...but I don't need to start planning cons for THAT yr yet...got enough THIS yr.

Yeah.... pretty sure a) it's sold out months ago and b) No way I"m driving to Chicago and back, and I couldn't afford a flight on top of hotels and all that.

Not sure where the next will be, but I have a feeling Europe. Or is that a separate thing entirely? I could always apply for a crew position. :P

I thought it was every year, so when they didn't do it in 2018 I couldn't figure out what happened. If this is the case than that makes sense. I thought we had one in 2016 though.

Last one I know of was Orlando 2017, so I'm not sure what to tell you. I know they did it another time in Orlando a few years before that though. Kind of hoping it comes back, TBH. Then I'm nice and close XD

It's a bi-yearly event, so 2021 will be next.

yes. I happen to collect the star wars funko pops and the exclusive celebration ones were 2015 and 2017, no peek at this yr's yet.

Takes planning :( If it weren't for the other people from my Guild Temple going, I wouldn't. I was able to get the 5 day pass at the original price when one couldn't use it because he and his wife are having a baby around that time, and was able to get the hotel super reduced because of sharing with Guild. Same with flights because one of them works for an airline.

Maybe the next one will be close to you! Or you can start saving to try to go to one and/or try to make connections to cut costs.

The next one should be in Pittsburgh. Calling it.

Next to me? Pfft. That's a good joke. The closest it would possibly ever be is over 300 miles away. And the chance of even that is extremely slim.

FINE! When I'm rich and famous, I will to go to a SWC.

I shall be attending SW Celebration this year with a friend who has never been to any big convention and her 2 children. Should be interesting.
We're able to afford it only because we are staying in a hotel in Rosemont, about 30 minutes drive away, but it makes 3 nights more manageable price wise lol - 450 for 3 nights as opposed to insanity IN Chicago proper.

I haven't been able to locate this, but does anyone know if Ultra Sabers is going to be there? I did not see them on the Exhibitors listing but... Knowing they're going to be at Chicago Comic Con nearby, I am hopeful?

Will I see anyone else with their awesome Ultra Sabers there?

Attending an SWC would be an unwise move for a vendor who technically makes unlicensed "copies" of Disney owned objects... a good way to be slapped with a C&D from The Mouse.

That is true, though technically, they are not "lightsabers" they are "ultrasabers", and they are "inspired by" not "copies" or "replicas" of Disney property.

funny enough. Disney knows US is out there. a part to make you laugh is Disney parks use them for everyone at Jedi academy experience and saw them in videos on youtube.

That is kinda hilarious, actually. I wasn't aware of the Disney Parks thing, that's pretty cool.

it really is, but I think they just got tired of the Disney ones breaking on stage for their crew. lol

With the way some of those kids swing them around, I don't blame them! lol.

I definitely wont make it to Anaheim. I will probably need to finish college before I can go (or else get a role in a SW movie/tv show, that would be the preferred way, but it is less likely)

You were there all 5 days?! Impressive :) I think I'd have to actually devise a training program to have been there all 5 days Lol.

I was there all day Friday and Saturday.

It was a reminder how massive an event it was and how many people were there. I knew several people who reported being there on the same days I was and I never even saw them.

Friday I was in the Saber Guild parade, so if you was it you saw me (even if you don’t know it) lol. Saturday I ended up meeting with Kath and Logos. I was Bastila for a couple hours at work the beginning of the day both days and then Revan for the rest. I also ran Sound for the first Saber Guild performance on the Galactic senate stage on Friday. That was while people were just getting out of the IX panel though. I was Bastila then, Revan in the parade.
