Title: Minor paint job for Sentinel le v4
Post by: Solstice Lacer on January 02, 2019, 12:06:55 AM
I decided to use some hammer finish metallic paint to make it my own. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I had to do it twice because I wasn't happy the first time. It's not completely perfect but I figure it will get some marks from use anyway

It looks great, SL!!!  I say get a black pommel for it to match with the hammer black switch section.

Hey! That’s a great start to a cool Customization of a cool saber! Every little touch makes it more, and more yours. Paint is hard. It takes a lot of practice to get it “perfect”. And to most painters, it never REALLY perfect anyway.

Yeah painting is a pain; especially if you mess up and need to strip it and repaint. I've done many projects where I come back and find a fly dried to it or something. Whatever, the fly is part of the project now.

Cool look! Is that textured as well? Looks like it adds some grip too

Thanks Gumby and deevee. The texture is mostly visual, but it does have a slightly different hand feel to the unpainted aluminum.

Nice and simple, but works very well with that hilt

Very nice SL! I may have to do that to my Sentinel, especially if it ads a bit of grip. -1

It's amazing how a little touch of color makes such a simple saber pop. -1

Very nice! Just the right place to put it.

I was wondering how well hammertone paint would adhere to machined aluminum. I'm considering doing something of the same to my Prophecy v3. As I've only had it for three days, I can wait a little longer.

Thanks. The paint seems to stick pretty well. The machining process on the saber apparently leaves enough texture, and I did a clear coat afterwards.

Somehow, I missed this before. I like it, just that little added bit of color makes the hilt even better looking. Nice work. :)

I'm really hoping to do this mod. Too bad they don't sell this hilt with this emitter anymore.
