I'm not a germaphobe, but I wash my hands for everything. If the dog licks my hand, oh hell no! Handles at the stores, bathrooms, yuck! I've seen men piss them just go walk out. Feck no! Wash your hands man! In your own house, whatever..But the bacteria that flies in public? *shudders* picking their noses and ears later too! Some sick fecks out there!
And about donations, one charity I usually always give to is St. Jude's children's hospital. That's as 100% as 100% gets.
Agreed, St. Jude's is the main charity I give money too. Otherwise I give to food, clothes and toy drives

A very worthwhile charity the I encountered a few year ago (one charity I worked with was contemplating doing a partnered fundraising event with them). They are one of the good ones (but they too pay their staff. But they do allocate lots more of their income towards research and help than some charities I have encountered).

I have a ton of clothes that I plan to donate soon. Just as soon as I get my wardrobe switched over to opposite gender, some poor teenager is going to look like he's in a 90's grunge band.....

Yup same. Doing it this weekend with the toys. Kids are going to give their Xmas toys away. Might take them to St. Jude's, or do something for them to show it's more than just a give away. That it means something to someone else.

It's great that you guys donate toys and clothes to charity (it is an essential resource for many charities). Just curious, do you ever donate money? Either as a one off or on a monthly basis?

That was one of the strategies I always implemented. While the major donors teams focussed on getting large donations from wealthy individuals, I would look to get peope to donate anything from £1-£10 per month. Multiply that by 50 people and it all adds up. So part and my team concentrated on retention of existing donors and the other part concentrated on getting new donors.

How would the bulb end up getting damaged?
Did you seriously just ask, in a forum for people who buy, and frequently swing, fling, and otherwise use, aluminum hilted, polycarbonate bladed lightsabers, how a light bulb could end up getting damaged?!?!? That's like asking the losing paintball team how they got paint on them.

Yeah. Like I've said, to St. Jude's, I will. $1 here, $2 there. Seems like twice a month, when I go to the store, I get asked at checkout "would you like to donate blah blah blah" if it's St. Jude's yes, questionable cancer research, depends. Women's cancer research, and it's a female cashier and a lady behind me, have too! But there's so much money wasted on "studies" and "research" that is just fecking pointless. I always hear on the radio "the Cleveland clinic research shows people who ate 2 donuts instead of one......" OMG are you freaking serious!!! You researched that???

I did ask that just to see how long it would take before someone mentioned that. Took longer than I expected.

Defend or contest the value of pity? What the heck doe that mean!? Use Aristotle and Nietzsche to defend your stance. How can I have a stance when I don't even understand the question?! I mean really, I hate philosophy. Screw this crap!

"What is your job?" "Standup Philosopher." As for the question, what value does the emotion of "pity" have in society? Does it have value because people feel pity for those less fortunate than they are, and help them? Does it hinder society, as those who may be eliminated from the gene pool due to circumstances are helped by others to survive? Think of the question this way: if it were possible, would the human species be better of if it did not feel the emotion of pity? Then use Aristotle and Nietzsche to support your view. I disagree with your view of philosophy, but I'm not going to argue it with you because you can think whatever you want.
